@strapwood Okay so as you know black isnt actually a color since it does not reflect any light with a wavelength between 390-720 nanometers it absorbs them all. What I'm trying to explain is that the reason your laser burns black stuff better is because it absorbs your lasers photons and does not reflect almost any of it. This causes the object that you are pointing the laser at to gain energy. Since energy cannot be lost but can only be converted the energy that the object has releases as heat

I know that but the driver that comes with the module isn´t enought to power the new LD. I´m pretty sure that he didn´t use any type of resistor ( like a new driver in side ) acording to kipkay´s set up.

but darker items absorb the light and gain the heat much faster. and htus burn faster.

you can get 300mw lasers that will burn lighter colors.

dorcy has nothing to do with the laser it's just a housing for it. you don't need a driver ether. and by the sounds of most of you people you should stay away from any kind of laser you will end up blind for sure.and yea an 18x will work the higher the number the better. no a cd burner wont work has to be at least a 16x dvd burner.

actually human skin reflects most red light and won't be burned by this unless you draw on yourself with a black marker. believe my i have one and it doesn't do anything to me.

Can you build this useing 2 lights instead of one? One light is a dark color and hits the skin the same time the laser hits the skin causeing the skin to burn.

it wont work for long unless you have a driver. There is a different mod from the mini mag call a dorcy Jr. There are videos on youtube about if and laserpointer forums is a great site for help on making a dorcy laser
