  • ¡Excelente!

  • Just a few steps away from the holodeck =D

  • This is a great idea but way too far ahead of its time. This is the sort of thing that would appeal more to casual gamers and there's no way enough casual gamers will pay for something that will clearly be expensive. As for the hardcore gamers, they're likely to tire out fast trying to play Halo with this so not many will buy it. Still, I absolutely love the concept! Perhaps after the military and other private/high profile buyers, costs may drop low enough for major gaming companies.

  • how neat would it be if say you were to play a new halo or killzone in this thing that would be AMAZING

  • Only 1 super cheap ass game i've only seen people play for demos..

  • The sphere is too small. if they are able to walk or run fast enough to catch up to the curvature, its too small. give it motors to make the ball move effortlessly. just my input, very interesting though. people might not ever give up the conventional controller until it is completely realistic feeling.

  • what the price oh only 50 billion thats on clearance wahoo

  • where do i get one

  • One step closer to my holodeck.

  • from seeing the experience from the first person shooter, i noticed that he aims using his head and not his gun, which is kinda bad coz u need to turn ur WHOLE head to actually shoot something that u are holding in your hand, my idea is to put one of those position sensing devices on the gun itself and not only on the headgear, more programming would be needed as the gun can move in a different direction as what one is seeing but it would be better

  • @shawnaw2 i noticed that as well, but there are already complete simulator guys for computers. so they would probably just integrate with another company for the weapon simulation. i hope so at least :D

  • LMFAO at 3:00 the guys like 'uhum you can turn it off now' lol.

  • that beast must nom one helluva lot of electricity

  • MW2 should come with this. No more knife runners.

  • They should make the Sims... but where your the Sim. See how you like it!

  • Looks like it's hard to get back up after a fall

  • can you step sideways? Since it's very important in a shooter you need this movement

  • can u jump inside that thing?

  • Monkey ball would be realy cool on this :D

  • It would end like this: /watch?v=TfxPION4xlA

  • HAHAHA... Sooo funny to watch right after seing this vid.. heheh!!

  • Seems kind of clumsy. I'd like to try playing a horror game in it though.

  • Looks interesting, though many aspects are not covered yet. As many as I can tell you right now: 1) Making this kind of sphere for the "big" people can be tricky, by "big" I mean really big, 120 kilos+ .This also goes to tall people. 2) As been mentioned, being able to jump... Well, even if this sphere is big enough for me to jump... Jumping while running in a spinning sphere can result into injury, I guess. But as far as I can tell... This is pretty much next-gen as we call it.

  • Look up "omnidirectional treadmill." It allows for completely natural walking, rather than the somewhat awkward walking within the VirtuSphere. It also allows for jumping and even flight with the harness. If they add the ability to tilt the treadmill, it could even simulate incline changes.

  • all i care about is strafing and dodging bullets.. which you can't do with this

it's an arcadey gimmick at best.

it really bothers me that bright guys are reduced to producing these dead end implementations, then having to look directly into the camera and lie their asses off about applications , , and

  • @part2themovie After reading their website, their implementing full body control into it.

  • ima work for one of these people one day lol, watch the boom comming. It's going to be a big industry.

  • i feel the same.

  • what happens when you stop!

  • Use Segway type sensors to compensate for the shifting rotational direction in the structure. Same old shoot 'em up eh? Perhaps the running imerative of a ball leads to pursute and retreat type games. A virtual sailing world would not need a ball, just some hoses with cold salt water occasionally aimed down the collar and some sick making drugs to give full virtual sailing.

  • the only two problems they really have right now, is getting better quality games for it, and when u are playing those games, u wouldnt be able to jump

  • playin fear 2 in there! omg

  • VR will never become a reality until we start experimenting with touch cranial sensory technology, these out dated hamster toys is embarrassing to even look at, you can't tell me that you can place that big hunk of junk into every bedroom or living room of America

  • how do tou think we will get the space needed to walk trough the virtual areas with your legs motion?

  • no in touch cranial technology your brain will think its walking much like the matrix

  • thats interesting :O

  • the biggest issue to solve now is changing directions promptly. and more precise aiming, but the aiming issue is an easy fix.

  • lol i thought about exact the same thing some years ago -.-

  • :D...honestly..me too!!

  • Comment removed

  • amazing!

  • Use this to play the left4dead game.Sure it will feel very exciting!!!!!!!!!!

  • Who cares about the exercise aspect? Ive been waiting for something like this since i Figured out what video games were. They need to make something more suitable for the home environment. Probably something like a track ball that you can walk on.

  • I would get cracked on so much if i used that thing lol.

  • i think this concept will be more aimed at the arcades.....its too big for a home living room....but i like the creativity of it.

  • what if he falls ha

  • California and the other broke states wont be having this. This is not going to last. INventors have to remember that they need to target all audiences. like myself for you all in 2012

  • Parece un viral, pero ¡hey! el camara y el productor son gallegos xDDD

  • HOW to jump over something ?!

  • i think it has something to do with preur, when your legs arent touchg the ball it means you jumped, dont know the calculation how high u jump though

  • He sucks at FPS. lol

  • And the fanboys continue to argue on something that is completely irrelevant to the video.

  • OMG i need THIS NAO!

  • i hope i life long enough to play some day this cool thing.

  • great idea but how they did it with whatever that thing is a fail. i want integration between PS-eye, PS-motion control and those 3D glasses (goggles) it be play a true virtual reality game. and ill be very happy

  • IMO running in place is stupid.

  • I really don't think this will be accessible, only people with more money than they know what to do with will buy this, it just isn't very practical, a giant ball taking up a bunch of space, it's very loud, the goggles look dorky... It just won't catch on, possibly the military could use it for training, but I really doubt it

  • but for arcades its good

  • look at the post below this one!

  • look at the bright side, youll get to play with it at your local video arcade room or huge ass shop, afcourse itll cost 20$ for 5 minutes, or itll be somewhat close to paintball

  • But seriously, unless you live in a big city are there even big arcades with enough money to buy these things? I doubt it, even in a big city!

  • with that pesimit thinking youde better go start finding rich frineds :D

  • No, that's the truth, those can't be cheap, they're noisy, in the 5 different town and cities I've lived in, none of them have had arcades! So unless you live in a big city odds are good you don't even have an arcade! I DON'T WANT ONE, OR SEE THE POINT! I think it would be a waste! I don't need rich friends because I don't fantasize about owning overly expensive toys that don't provide entertainment!!!!!

Moving on, how are you? How's the weather? how bout the wife? How's your job?

  • somehow im imaginating that there will stand arround 16 ball like those and youll get transported to the virtual world and there you play extreme future paintball or smth... anyway it could be something like that lazer paintball-style game if you heard about it.

Im good thnx. Its rainy and foggy. Wife left with another woman and i got fired from my job... ok...... so... antything new?

  • I got a fancy new laptop... Sorry to hear about the weather and wife...

and the paintball thing sounds cool, but once more expensive XD

  • the lazer paintbal thing doesnt cost much, in my country its a few dollars cheaper then normal paintball

  • But the giants spheres that can read your movement input? 16 of them?

  • There can't be pain, too realistic. If there was pain, someone would figure out how to mod this, and turn it into some kind of sick, twisted, torture machine (Alex Rider, anyone?).

Also, Natal (Xbox) is kind of, meh... You have to actually "walk" to walk in the game right (as I understand it from that "monster game" video clip), so what if you walk really close, into the TV. o_O

Maybe walking will be like that relay race game for Mario and Sonic @ the Olympics for the Wii (walk in place).

  • Dude xbox is coming your with something like this but its wayy better u dont move around witht the hamster ball but its cool look up xbox360 project natal

  • this is fucking tuff. i can't wait for it to come out and if i can afford it

  • I have a place to put it the question is if I could afford it. It's a great invention any gamer would love to get their hands on, but will they be able to get there hands on it?

  • No. It's not an original idea. It's the application of an idea all gamers have had at at least one point in their life. I don't see why everyone is so down on this; there is a LOT of potential. Yes, it may be too big to fit into one's home, but shit; think of the arcade possibilities! I'm not entirely impressed with the current "model" (I guess that would be the proper term?), but it's just the possibilities and potential this concept has... ... Fuck yeah, Nazi Zombies in this!

  • The biggest problems with tech like this is that people DONT want to move when playing games.

The only exception I can think of is dancing. Like dance revolution arcade etc, but other move games are not that successful.

I remember there was a cop game where you moved your body do dodge instead of just pressing a button. It was a good game, but people got tired playing it.

Similar with treadmill and bicycle games.

Its similar on Wii. Most play sitting down, even if its a game like bowling.

  • This is crap. It's not an original idea, and it's a terrible application of virtual physical control. Running around in a giant hamster ball to simulate running in a game? It's almost an incentive not to play. There needs to be some kind of comfortable, compact platform you walk around on, because the giant ball, Wii-mote, and cyber-glasses just don't cut it.

  • but wut if u cant fit through that hole to get in the ball. or is that another motivation to lose weight :D? lol many physical benefits!

  • looks more like an arcade game that they have at theme parks

  • too much noise and there are hole! ??????

  • True virtual reality goes far beyond just seeing in 360 degrees in game virtual world. There is the sense of touch and smell and hearing as well and even taste. Star Trek

    hollow deck-Now thats virtual reality.

  • but how far will it be taken?

    Will there be pain too?

  • True virtual reality is unknown until it is here. Until then its just a word, truth96130. A fake show does not determine what the meaning of a word is either.

  • And all the dirt and whatever was on the bottom of your shoes is now going over your head possibly falling on you. Dos not seem to brilliant to me. Why would I really want to run in a game? I do enough work at work. Just use the head set in the video with a controller in your hand, thats all you need.

  • There are small holes along the ball's constuction.

  • So, let me get this straight. That giant hamster ball that looks like a cage is the controller for this thing? That is some strange imagination they got.

  • The hamster ball is the "movement" stick

While your self and your body is the "Camera" stick.

  • Nazi zombies in that would be awesome!

  • imagine playing assassin's creed

  • They should project the sceen onto the sphere so you dont need the headgear

  • talk about no life's escaping the reality of them being a loser......

  • anyone else seeing this company going bankrupt as soon as this piece of shit get put into production?

  • what happens if you trip?

does your character fall as well?

i would imagine it'd be pretty hard to stand back up with that ball moving around

  • How the fuck am I going to fit that into my double wide? :0

  • Only if it produced electricity. :D

  • It is mayby too big for in house, but for an arcade it would be perfect.

  • I tell you this is a good start but it's not practical to be used as an entertainment tool ... they still have a lot of issues to solve but good start.

  • It's scary isn't it.

In the 1940s, people thought TV could never replace radio. Now we have live tv, interactive TV, multi-screen TV. When Mobile phones came out, only business men used them and even then, just for business. Now, I see kids, having full conversations through text. This, maybe 5 years ago, would have been a joke. This will be big.

  • this looks good for soccer games :D

  • And just how much is this gonna cost? It would require everyone to have at least 100sqr ft space in there houses for it.

I think its the best idea yet, however, it simply no where near what it needs to be.

  • yeah it would be pretty crappy to play racing gaems with it, and yes y agree with dude under my its perfect for fps

  • Hope they can make racing games to play inside this sphere.

  • To make it realistic is almost impossible i think because in racing games there are sooooo much G force involved... for FPS its perfect and for MPRPG games

immagine playing sonic 3d :D you get to run a bit :D

  • not the wii

but the 360's project natal surpass this!

  • Only poor niggers think this is fail. This is the fucking future. Win.

  • very big, very loud and probly expencive ! I say this is a fail

  • dont judge it until u try it

  • Think back 10 years - what did mobile phones look like then? Bulky, slow, and people thought absolute shit of them. And where are they now? In everyones' pocket.

  • if I were you I would use the web

  • BORAT :D

  • This will fail, because people are lazy.

  • Hmm, Wii?!

  • yea but it dosnt make u run that mutch, and u can sit on the chair while playing wii, witch most ppl do.

  • what's mutch?

  • the game they test it on is that their own made game or is it a game from the shelf?

  • VR Goggles has been abandoned simply because having tv screens that close to your eyes causes eye strain , end of . The future of VR will be the Wii '360 Total Body Motion Capture'

  • if they can make this flow like WAW and the many other FPS shooters out their then this will be AWESOME

  • Yes, imagine using this to play left4dead.

  • oooo this is a woauuuuuuuuuuuuuuu jejejeje I want play in this lol

  • Anyways, weather its MotionPlus or Sonys Motion Wand and THIS together would be a great idea

  • OK this is a great idea, but the technology for their games is terrible...The way the gun moves/camera and graphics ect...,it all seems and moves so artificial and looks and play dated...NOW imagine Metroid Prime 3 with Wii IR/Curser Controls, as if your arm is Samu's IN these sphere walking or running....these guys clearly dont know what the hell they're doing with games, but the hamster ball itself is great, yet noisy....

  • Pretty sure they are legally required to use a game they made themselves at THIS stage. No doubt that even an amateur programmer could get the sphere to act like an analog stick.

  • This is noisy and you could stop in an instant because the ball will just keep rolling and for that you can't change direction in an instant too... and its huge

  • OMFG I had this in mind when I first started out gaming then I was a lil kid, why didn't someone make a device whereby it seem like we were walking in it. And there we have it.

For those who are saying that natal is better and all that shit remember this is a prototype and that it hasn't showcase it's true potential. Besides Microsoft made the Natal cause they knew that the 360 won't make it in the near future. Therefore they made Natal to extend the 360 capability.

  • 360aint for the future everybodyu knows they working on some new xbox and sony working on some new playstation...

  • thats pretty incredible, iva always dreamed of beeing able to move in something like that and play like a paintball match but all virtually, thats sick

  • This thing would only work in malls because you need a lot of money and room to put this into your house.

  • at least its resurrected and making progress :)

  • Only thing u need is a gaming room, and dats not that much of space...

  • When all work is automated, this will be a good exercise source.

  • i'd hurt my self in that ball. real nice technology, however.

  • i think both this n natal are good but i bet this more expensive

  • natal is better

  • damn, this would be sweet with half life

  • so fucking agree

  • vai tomar no cú, ñ entendi porra nenhuma!!!!!

  • it seems pretty cool but that HUGE sphere is not gonna fit in my room xD

  • Amazing technology!

  • FUCK THIS SHIT

  • This is a cool idea and all, but I think holograms are the future. The only place the Virtue Sphere might stand a chance is in arcades, who knows maybe technology will make arcades popular again.

  • This thing is great. In 10 years it would be super. It's like repeating computer history. Hope it'll be a success.

  • it looks real cool

  • this actually looks worth while but why cant it be a plastic ball of something that doesn't look so chuncky and huge or they need that for sensors.....i would buy this xD haha looks sweet up!?!

  • You can fit that anywere! - .-

  • waste of moneyyyyyyyyyyy

  • dam think about ut3 as well in that thing. its like wii and virtual reality....

  • I dont like it because you have to move all your body to play....But, how to play CoD2 or WoW or racing in that sphere?!?!

  • well you wont be racing in a sphere there will not be CoD2 it will prolly just be a online world or something

  • fox blender animação 3d

  • so how much is virtusphere if i buy it?

  • problem.. it is too loud when in motion. Also problem with mass of the sphere. When you make an abrupt position change, you have innertia. A bit big too for a home environment too.

  • yeah well, it's just a project, they're developing it; i hope they can fix that kind of problems.

  • honestly when it comes to close to the reality.. the game is not a game anymore..

specially in war game, or horror game, when u have to run and be aware of the ennemies... the game wont last more than an hour. (maybe its good). and u will get tired as hell.

  • what if u fall or u roll from a side of a mountain.. will u roll in real life and break ur neck.

  • virtual boy got nothing on this

  • I WANT 1

  • how abouth few and play some UT =)

  • FUCK YEAH TETRIS

  • Well be funn play world of warcraft in that =)

  • lol if ppl played warcraft from lvl 1-30 in that they wud find themselves being phisicaly fit cuz all u do 2 move is run. of course selecting targets wud be a problem as well as macros fighting ect.

  • Just think to play a BG... some AV in that =)

  • It looks cool!!!!!!!!!

  • how much is the real qn?

  • ....itss a bit loud....i wud wait some more time til they fix the bugs

  • super cool !! even when it never fit my house and i probably need an sphere chair after a few minutes but imagen yourself conected to internet serching for information yourself very exhausting...

  • I WANNA PLAY IT!!!

  • cool

  • you won't be seeing this thing in homes...unless we all have mansion

  • It could be that in the future this device becomes so important for humans, that homes are design with a special room for a virtusphere alone.

  • lol they put subtitles for that guy and for the other no lol

  • If you combine this technolagy with moution detectors you look at future gaming :D

  • I'm not listening to someone who thinks iniquity is a word, and I'm not sure I want to follow in the footsteps of someone who tries to scare me into joining their religion.

  • iniquity

    Noun

    pl -ties

    1. injustice or wickedness

    2. a wicked act [Latin iniquus unfair]

    iniquitous adj

  • Will work for fps games without jumping... though I suppose they could make like a jumping button thing or something...

will not work for basically anything thats not fps

  • weight shoes, when you jump it can tell your not standing on them ;)

  • Why is everyone assuming people would use it INDOOR?

  • So that you'll have the comfort of privacy, and not looking like an idiot in front of others in case you are a neophyte. And for it to not get stolen and you man handled while being too busy in your own little world.

    Does that answer your question?

  • seem like an early version of the matrix :p

  • the main problem i can see with that is the space you wil need.

  • It would be fun if it had a MMORPG! we can even date people!

  • xD

i wont play games for many hours with this thing

    totally exhausted...hahha

  • this is silly, put yourself in a noisy hamsster cage.

try project natal its much creative and better
