  • love it

  • Classic Sexy Amazing Bolan was a genius

  • Marc Bolan's voice makes me melt like a popsicle on the 4th of July... =')

  • @CookieMischief8 Tumblr much?! haha

  • @94blondebimbo yes =D

  • Hey! This guy ripped off the black keys!!! For shame you time-traveling hack, for shame!!!!!

No seriously, both are great songs. Let it be.

  • @DesmondPono This "guy" was around before The Black Keys, so they stole from this "guy."

  • @MisterTibTib even so man, "inspired" is the word, and thats ok in my books, peace man.

  • @JakyRedEyes right you are

  • @MisterTibTib i think he was taking the piss, as hinted at by the bit where he called him a time traveler.

    jus sayin

  • ultimate rock star , looks cool as fuck , is cool as fuck , genius , died young , real superstar

  • I came here because people kept saying the black key's everlasting light sounds like this song.

  • Awesome song. Also, for those who are criticizing the Black Keys for basing Everlasting Light on this song... If you notice, some of the official videos for songs from Brothers feature a t-rex puppet (most noticeably in "Next Girl"). I wouldn't be surprised if the Black Keys knew what they were doing, subtly paying homage to the great sound of a predecessor.

  • intense

  • Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So I guess the black keys are pretty lame any which way you look at it

  • @JamesTSinclair The Black Keys have been called many things, but lame? You, sir, are incredibly ignorant and uninformed.

  • @JamesTSinclair holy mother of fuck it's one song who actually cares........... get over it

  • We still listen. I'm 60. I have the old Albums, then I got em on Tape and now CD. I still got em all.

  • no one like Marc. Thanks for the 70's.

  • All of you people saying that The Black Keys "ripped off" this song are ignorant as fuck. Did they "rip off" R.L. Burnside in the song Busted? What about Gangstarr in Next Girl? No, it's called an influence, and there's nothing wrong with basing a song off of a previous song. You obviously know nothing about The Black Keys if you think they would just rip off a song. Oh, and they're not THAT similar.

  • @PCFilth92 being influenced by a certain group or artist is just that...an influence. To blatantly rip off the song is called plagiarism. Look it up....

  • @PCFilth92 Totally agree. They also have a really bad ear

  • didn't marc only know 4 or 5 chords?..........thats why they can sound so similar.

  • @shiltondipper He wrote some classic songs with just 4 or 5 chords. If that's what you believe.......

  • @shiltondipper Maybe it was because the 'sound' worked?

  • @Factnotfictionpeople yeah it worked, that's why we're still listening to it today..........he is without a doubt an icon of the 1970's..........he wasn't a musical genius but a sex symbol........a lot of the chart music of that time had nothing clever about it...........but us 'girls' were so inlove with the performers ☺

  • @shiltondipper LOL :-)

  • I'm a hungry GIRL for You!

  • the bongo player in the band used to put the extra mayo on the drum head [the same mayo that got him kicked out of holland ] to deaden the sound it was like the oppisite of a cry baby if you played gi---tar[for you hillbillies], now go the fuck to sleep and wake up to your boring robotic intelectually void mentally unemployed thing that youy do,.......hey ..have a great day !!!!!!

  • first cool music for me ..thank you Marc

  • Mark you are still with us and we love you!

  • In the early '80s my friend & I were listening to all the pop/punk/metal/funk stuff on the radio and we thought it couldn't get any better, then, we found his mom's LP of 'Electric Warrior', blew the dust off of it, put it on the player, and were never the same again...

  • RayL, I absolutely agree with you. Marc never managed to capture this level of magic again in his career.

  • @SidV1977 Why do you think that was ? Fame ? I mean yeah there was still great stuff, but the pixie dust was definitely blowing in the wind - still settling every now and then - when you could feel - wow yeah that's the stuff .

Perhaps it was just the time - that coming out of the sixties hitting a new decade - like landing on a different planet maybe?

  • @DesdomonaChild I know this is a little late in coming, but I just figured out that I can actually see when people respond to things I post on here. : > I think that Marc just had one really great album in him. I'm not saying that his other stuff wasn't really good, it just didn't come close to the magic of Electric Warrior. I think it was partly because Marc hadn't started on the downward spiral of fame, booze and drugs yet.

  • @SidV1977 Sure Marc Bolan' s slide into egomania, cocaine and brandy affected his writing and performing but just one great album?! Listen to Unicorn, A Beard of Stars, T.Rex, The Slider and Tanx...all (in my opinion) brilliant. Throw in at least another album's worth of original singles and B-sides and the man's musical legacy is established. However, your opinion is valid and at least you acknowledge Electric Warrior as a classic. Keep enjoying the music.

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • washed my car today , it was a beautiful day, the way bolan plays the licks on this song is real tight , he holds the pick close so it almost deadens the note as its played ...thats it for now ......the rev

  • the difference between music and Music

  • Bolan=God Xxxx

  • Let me tell ya somethin, Marc Bolan hands down was the frigin premier artist, I mean his writing, well his poetry which he was able to put to kick ass fuckin guitar playing {I wonder if he used a guitar baby}.That sums it up ,hasta hasta la vista

  • marc bolan was thrown out of holland for not putting mayonnaise on his french fries.,as o.j. would say '' yeah, go figya!''

  • Who the hell would dislike this?

    Fool.

  • @jimbopumbapigsticks Yeah, a right damn fool that doesn't know good music when they hear it!

  • @jimbopumbapigsticks

thanks god i'm not a fool.. i just love it fourty years and four months.. would you beat me?

  • There was something special about this album. He never did it again unfortunately.

  • mark is greats !!!!!!!

  • 1 dislike i bet they smoked a elves dick !!!!

  • @wdmounger Disco??? Clean your ears out- that's Rock-folky music for elves.

  • Marvelously sexy.

  • great fucking tune kicks ass'' love this music;

  • Who is everlasting life? or is that black keys?

  • Who is everlasting life?

  • best tune ever...

  • my wig's all pooped for you

  • 1 idiot who dislike this

  • Definite similarity between Everlasting Life and this but I really doubt its similar enough for a judge to decide the Keys need to open their checkbook up. Regardless, I dig both songs.

  • @GranDrJ dumbass its everlasting light not life

  • @nopvictor didnt realize a typo on youtube comments bothered you so much. Need a life?

  • AWWW YEAH!!

  • I like...in Hungary :)

  • Marc is actually a better guitarist than he gets credit for -fucking excellent actually-This line up is my personal fav.I wonder how he would have changed/evolved musically if he hadn't been wasted so long ago-the weather was shitty that year I recall back in 1977

  • @wdmounger For some reason that comment makes sense in my mind...

  • Brilliant in 70s, Brilliant now.

  • a real very good song......i heard it first 1972, a long long time ago and since this time i never forgot "my" marc

  • this is good muzik i just got into it but now im hooked my girl thinks im crazy but im an artist musician poet writer all kinds of $%#% so i feel this type of muzik

  • shut up with the everlasting light comparisons both songs kick ass

  • This is and was some kickass stoner rythum,Right on!

  • i was going to say the same thing about "everlasting light". i was just going to post this so my girlfriend could see that very similarity.

  • this tune was good then as it is now in 2011 t.rex

  • Bloody brilliant!

  • As long as we are talking about rhythm guitar what about Keith Richards?

  • uh, does anyone else see a similarity between this song and the black keys "everlasting light" thats who should be sending the royalty checks

  • @whostommy1 The similarity is INTENTIONAL.

  • @whostommy1 Thankyou, I've been thinking that since the first day that album came out. Not criticizing the Black keys by any means though. Might as well take your inspiration from good music

  • @whostommy1

Dude! Someone just sent me that video and I was like 'this sounds just like Mambo Sun'.

  • @whostommy1 LCD Soundsystem: Dance yrself clean. A lot of bands do this sort of sound. Plus, Marc Bolan would have a bit difficult time demanding royalties being dead and all.

  • @whostommy1 does it matter? Blues (and hip hop) are two forms of music that only get better through the innovation and personalization of a sound. The Black Keys have never been shy of realizing that potential. I mean, the album cover is already a blues rip off! der.

  • @whostommy1 the black who?

  • @whostommy1 Haha true

  • @whostommy1 wow are you so right holy shit just sitting on ym computer i played both side by side and they stayed in perfect time and sounded identical until the black keys song went ahead in time a bit

  • @whostommy1 I think the Black Keys had already CHECKED out this song and should be sending royalty CHEQUES. OMG the yoof of to-day.......

  • @whostommy1 It's such a crime having good musical influences.

  • Comment removed

  • @whostommy1 Just checked that one out. You're absolutely right! Coincidentally, the final track on the T.Rex album is called 'Rip Off'. Killer toon.

  • @whostommy1 Wow, It's true!

  • @whostommy1 Everyone is inspired and has influences. Alot of songs have similarities. Who cares?

  • Ive read all these really good comments but i feel all the people mentioned are legends in there own right. The edge Hendrix Bolan we should all be so proud that we were around to listen to these fantastic people. Ok you may think Bolan took some of his riffs off other artists but that has been going on for decades its called influenced. So rather than argue about it chill and enjoy it. x

  • Jack White should be sending royalty checks to Bolan's estate, get real.

  • fucking real rock superstar BORN TO BOOGIE cool

  • @enisorian hendrix excelled at rhythm guitar, considering he played both lead and rhythm. marc bolan just rehashed old chuck berry and eddie cochran riffs

  • The Edge was and is fuck all - the most over-rated guitarist of the last 30 years. Bolan was primarily a song-writer but had enough know-how as a player to do what he liked and wanted.

  • @JoeStunner u2's music isn't my cup of tea, however over-rated the edge may or may not have been, but that doesn't change the fact that he took a guitar, an amp and a delay pedal and played excellent rhythm guitar. hell, jack white is more creative rhythmically than bolan

  • This song is waaaaay before it's time!!!

  • @enisorian greatest rhythm guitarist in history? i highly doubt it. the edge played circles around bolan. and what about people like hetfield? hendrix, for godsakes, was a better rhythm guitarist than marc. the list could go on...townsend...etc. bolan could groove, though, no doubt about it

  • enisorian you know what's up <3 Bolan

  • Mambo sun as it is on Electric Warrior - not mucked about with (no offense to those who have tried) you can't improve on prefect - know what I mean - this track is brilliant - Tony Visconti produced Bolan, Finn, Currie and Legend others too worked on this great track which opens Electric warrior in many ways bringing the past into the future this track has the magical Lyrics which Bolan had been known for mixed with the brilliant Rock sound that defined T.REX for the next few seasons - wonderful
