Germans lost 80% (that information you can check, it is in Germans archives) of their army in USSR, so 20 % of their army would not make a difference for Russians. But that 20% of German army were a big deal for Americans and British!

If Stalingrad had fallen to the 6th Army, we might all be speaking German. The Panorama Museum in Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad) has the recognition of an America President honoring the defenders of this epic City. I am greatful to the Russian army who defeated the Nazis.

@mrgeebaby86 As for Hitler wanting to invade Britain, this is something he could have done relatively easily if he had set the whole might of the German war machine to it.As the British situation was much more desperate than Churchill ever admitted in public.I even read that secret talks were taking place for cease fire which included an even exchange of the German mark to the pound which the British did not want to accept.

In relation to Berlin, the Soviet army faced legions of desperate German soldiers and civilians as they pushed through Germany towards the capital city. The Nazi hierarchy had to transfer its veteran soldiers from East to West in a bid to stop Russia reaching Berlin before the Allies. Russia played a bigger part in ending WWII

The Germans outnumbered the Russians 8 to 1 in the opening stages were never outnumbered by the Russians in the city it's self. With shovels guns and anything that could kill the Russians were fighting for their very exsistance. God bless them all. Had Barbarossa began 1 May 1941 rather than 22 June the Germans would have taken Moscow...the Winter stopped them. Hitler had to put off his invasion by 7 weeks to bail out Il Duce after his failed invasion of Greece. Incidentally there is no snow in the Summer. I guess you imply there was never any Fritz VS Ivan fighting in the Winter??? The German soldier was the best of any Army in WW2. George Patton said the best division of any Army was the Hermann Goering Panzer Division. Check the fact.

If Stalingrad had fallen to the 6th Army, we might all be speaking German. The Panorama Museum in Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad) has the recognition of an America President honoring the defenders of this epic City. I am greatful to the Russian army who defeated the Nazis.

Their deaths had nothing to do with their actions. They died because Hitler considered slavic people inferior race not worthy to be treated as humans.

For a start count the number of Europeans and the number of Russian, and then count one more and one less. Do not forget that the Nazis controlled virtually the whole of Europe. You fought against men, children, women and the elderly. They were defending their homeland and its people, resulting in you losing this war.

@peterhaak83 Ok, you want to go technical. Russia won because Hitler was stupid enough to start a two front war. He pushed his generals aside and commanded with his amateur skills. Dividing his troops into two in the east, one of which pushed to Stalingrad. After a devastating fight there, Russian army smashed through the German line and outflanked the Germans in Stalingrad. Hitler refused to retreat, just like Napoleon had done, and resulted in the turn of the battle and the war.

We should add that the Allies opened a second front in the summer of 1944. 85% of German losses are on the eastern front.

the russians did not win with tactics they won becasue of the hasrsh russian winter that the germans just wernt prepared for thats why they won other wise germany would have wiped the floor with russia as it did in the summer as the bigginning of the operation
