I will go on the record as saying this is the greatest production engine of all time. Not too large in size, nice six cylinder engine not, perfect V6 displacement to get the most bang for your buck! (many bucks) I fucking love this 4.0
@519Garage This is a flat six, and a v6 is by no means perfect. It is simply used for weight distribution in a front engined car. A both a flat six or straight six are superior to a v6 in sound and torque.
@jcadlols Sound is purely subjective to an individual. It cannot be made as a concrete term. Do keep in mind a flat six is also used for weight distribution as it lowers the center of gravity in the car. I agree with you about the torque results though.
@tripleheshy Sure, but about the only v6's that recieved praise for their sound are probably the ferarri v6 in the dino or stratos, the nsx v6 or the alfa v6. I might have missed a couple, but in general a straight 6 or flat 6 is said to sound better. :)
@jcadlols Agreed. My neighbor has an old Chevy 292 straight six on an engine stand with some sort of fashioned long tube headers and an improvised fuel injection on it. The sound..............oh the glorious sound!!!!!! Takes me back thirty five years.
@jcadlols that's true, I just heard a 240 Z race engine on triple race carbs today and it sounded way better and throatier than this and it's a 40 year old Datsun!!!!

GT3 RS 4.0 , R8 GT , M3 GTS , M3 CSL ... It's so stressing such cool cars have limited production . Revs up if you want them unlimited , so the car makers see this !
Funny to see someone driving so sedately but still bashing the car over the berms in 3rd gear with the engine gone silent for lack of rpm.
The 4.0 sounds good and throaty, but that shiny plastic steering wheel is completely out of place. Didn't Porsche notice people were paying extra for the thick Alcantara wheel with the black hub?
