um on a geo storm if you put a hose in the return gas line in the engine bay and put the end in a gas can and with the end at gound level it will drain it's self about 15 min per 1 ot 2 gallon i think

The cable you show looks like the clutch cable. It connects to the clutch lever.

The fuel sender is the rheostat (variable resistor) which controls the gas gauge on the dash.
You learn something new every day. :) I might actually keep that then, could be fun to play with.
