This train is MOAY. It is a joint venture Intermodal train that runs from Mohawk Yard NY to Ayer MA. Pan Am and Norfolk Southern completed this joint venture splitting the cost 50/50. NS paid for track work to allow greater speeds. The sister train of this, AYMO, runs from Ayer MA to Mohawk Yard NY. From there is goes on the D&H and then to chicago and points west -jmano33
Thanks so much for the information. I hope to make it back to either one or both portals this summer and hopefully see another train there. I'll also try to catch some of the train that run along the Connecticut River near where I live.
Usually, the locomotive on the head represents what railroad is operating that train. It would make sense that this is a Norfolk Southern train, since they and Pan Am Railways own that trackage through there. Go to Wikipedia and look up "Pan Am Southern". Someone who's really savvy might even be able to tell you what train number it is.
