In the manga, the real reason why Sabato helps is because Sakura giving her food from the marketplace, but he was disguised as a "stranger". Later, when Sabato tries to thank the "stranger", she accidently zaps Sakura and realizes he helped her all along. The events are also put in different times, but who cares?

And he never showed signs of liking Dokuro, only being flushed when she makes perverted poses or her clothes fall off!

@Pikachu26550 Excluding the impaling and angel part, it still makes sense. I've had relationships that developed from a girl just being around a lot and teasing or playing rough. Its just an accidentally fall in love thing from your end but just her way of getting his attention. That's how the whole courage theme comes into play. Just giving them a push in the right direction and waiting for them to make the move. He likes Dokuro, just hadn't really noticed her through the distracions.
