@phunnyplace Just search for the organ piece (which can be found in numerous places online) and take out what you want or if you're more advanced and would like to play the entire organ piece, go for it. Obviously there will be some parts you'll need to change, but for the most part it's easy enough to arrange it for your marimba. =]
Well, as long as your getting crusified, I really liked it. I couldn't find any flaws in your performance. I'm astounded that anyone could play ANYTHING by Bach on the marimba. Kudos to you!
@railers60 So would a ripple roll be better for this piece than double vertical? I wasn't sure and it is definately not too hard to change to ripple at this point.
what's with all the crazy rubato? Just play it in time with a little rubato....you're just taking the most comfortable speed for whatever passage you happen to be playing. you either speed up or lower down through every phrase....get a clue, dude. or a metronome.....
Well now, everyone has different interpretations of different pieces. I myself tend to lean on the faster side of rubato, but I can understand where he is coming from. The maestoso he adds works well with this particular piece. It gives the piece a full sound, reminiscent of the original organ piece.
thank you, i am definitely more of a musical person when i play, as opposed to a technical player... i care more about expression then technical ability, which does not translate well to DCI I&E...
i must say though, i disagree with some of your stickings, you should try to utalize your outer mallets with phrases that don't involve chords. it looks cooler and is a bit easier in my opinion. when i played this i played that constant low 'a' section up an ctive to help it pronounce itself better so to speak.
Watch your phrasing, some of it bleeds and doesn't know when to stop, course the recording plays a part in that. Your technique is great, it looks like stevens, my favorite. Love the rolls at the end, very strong. What mallets are you using?
That worked surprisingly well, considering it wasn't a pipe organ being played. (And very well played too, I should add. :) But what's this bit about 'I want to bear your children' in the tags?? That will confuse the search engine! ;) )
Sheet music????

i want to learn this on marimba.
i recently bought a 4.3 octave after playing one in college for the past 3 years.
2 questions. where did you get the music for this and does it fit on a 4.3 or is the range too big?
