See, in the US we have large Hispanic populations, many Mexican Americans. Many of them stay in special ethnic neighborhoods and speak Spanish among another. Recent immigrants or people who immigrated as adults may speak Spanish only and live in a bubble, but people who grew up in America learn English, even if they live in predominately Spanish speaking 'hoods.

First I want to say that I find all these teachings to be disturbing and appalling. That being said, do people think that Muslims in general are just blind followers that do everything they are told? I was taught many things growing up in religious schools and churches, but it seems to me that most people disregard much of what they are taught.

First I want to say that I find all these teachings to be disturbing and appalling. That being said, do people think that Muslims in general are just blind followers that do everything they are told? I was taught many things growing up in religious schools and churches, but it seems to me that most people disregard much of what they are taught.

The trouble is that any non-Orthodox Muslim can be brow-beaten by one who is. Did you read the verses of the Qu'ran or did you not? Anyone who tries to be moderate or liberal is accused of being un-scriptural, and that's where things end. Al-Qaida rules the roost since they can say they practice the "purest" Islam, that is to say of reaving and killing every other person who's not a Muslim.

For example, can this promised Heaven even exist and be enjoyed? I mean, we KNOW how the brain works now: neurons like bits in a computer. I needed to reply to your question , where Catholics have practiced conversion by the sword... mexico,i am a mexican,and when the spanish came to conquer this country by the sword and to take all the riches of the natives , they also brought Catholic monks who forced the natives to convert , even though many of them lied and just played along, the religion imposed made these people less free.I would like to ask if you can practice your faith or lack of it in the country you live in.
