@AJollyGoodFelon The MakerBot doesn't use weedeater line, that stuff is made out of nylon, the Makerbot uses plastic filament that is made out of ABS, PLA or HDPE which is completely different. It's not something you just buy off the shelf, you need to find a manufacturer willing to extrude the plastic into filament which you would have a hard time doing unless you were to place an order for a few hundred pounds of the stuff. Also MakerBot sell it for $10 a pound and not $80 as you suggest.

I am amazed that they have the gall to try to sell weedeater refills for $80 a pound. The end product looks like crap, that's probably why he keeps moving it, so you can't see what a piece of shit it is. There's holes down the side of his head, because that's the nature of melted plastic, it's not controllable. I have yet to see anything worthwhile come out of one of these, just stupid worthless crap like models, and salt shaker. Back to the drawing board with you.

the makerbot does seem a tad useless though. we need a machine cheap enough for the masses but able to do useful things. like a wood or alu mill with a larger work area.
