  • Youre absolutely right. When asked where Im from I say I am a Zonian.Though I was born in Chiriqui since my first schooling in the old Amador area nursery school to graduating from BHS, saluting to the American flag every morning( I know the Stars abd Stripes better than Alcanzamos por Fin La Victoria!!)What can I say.I am a bizarre animal, a Zonian.

  • FYI, Pizzeria Napoli is still there!!, same owner...same great Pizza!

  • A classic!!

  • Fellow Zonians..... That is if you scream parada to signal the bus its time to stop.... join us on Face book.....

  • My dad is a Zonian. Jerry Dare Jr. He and I wwatched this and he was telling me about all the places he grew up.

  • Classic, loved it!! Thanks for putting Spagnito in your Video!!

  • man so good

  • Rremembrance of the Napoli pizza place. All the owners are old geezers now and duly well endowed economically. I used to sell newspapers at the Balboa Clubhouse and Post office, also I picked coke bottles at the ball stadium. I had a Zonian chum named James Wilber who died quite early. I lived in Panamá but liked to wander over there where I learned English.

  • Wow! Born and raised there for 15 yrs. 1956-1970. I have often felt like I don't have any "roots" this video made me feel like I do . . . thanks.

  • I am a Canal Zonian!! I lived in Fort Clayton, danced at the Teen Club, attended church on the base, graduated from Balboa High School, I graduated with Chipi Azcarraga, the son of the famous Lucho, ate mondongo, rode chivas, hung out at the Clubhouse, shopped at the commissary and received my early musical training at El Conservatorio Nacional de Panamá.

  • @jlutheyCA

Greetings fellow Zonian... Yes we scream Parada !!! ....Join us on Face Book......

  • Thank You for the clarification.

  • Some of us were born in the Canal Zone to Panamanian parents, doesn't this mean we are Zonians. Well not according to the definition in the video. Maybe it was a type o, or not.....

  • @Panahec I am sorry...I guess I was trying to be specific in the Zonian description, I think anyone fortunate to have lived in the Zone regardless of nationality is a Zonian!!

  • I am a not a zonian. I had a good time with them. It was a zonian who help me with my career. I a a Panama Canal Pilot now.

  • My husband was born in the Canal Zone (Ancon), and lived there for five years. He really enjoyed this!!

  • I like this. Retire in Panama my option.

  • Oh, my goodness!! This sure brought tears to my eyes. This is when PTY was the true PTY!!

  • Stationed at Albrook for 4 years as a teenager. Ah the wonderful memories - I still tell people about Napoli!

  • Brought tears to my eyes. I lived there for 5 years. I attended the elementary school near Big Tree for 2nd and 3rd grade. My favorite house in the whole world was the substandard one in Big Tree (demolished) When we moved to better housing, I went to 4th and 5th grade at Ft. Kobbe. I miss it till my heart aches. Thanks for posting the video.

  • Nicely edited. I just met a Zonian and she seems, well, almost normal. Note I said almost.

  • LOVE THIS!!!! Yes, I have this CD and have heard the song many times, but with the photos, it is total. Thank you.

  • Just Great!

  • That was my Yellow Jeep in the video! Was great but had to end colonialism was wrong.

  • I guess some people actually like apartheid. I´m glad this culture went to extinction

  • Super !!!!! great memories and tremendous collection of fotos and momentos. !!!! Great Calypso, TuRass man

  • Very fun video, I wasn't a Zonian, but I was stationed there. I miss Panama, it's my second country. The video brought back a lot of memories. Especially the lone about that crappy train, it spent more time in the dirt than on the rails when I was there in the 80's.

  • You guys did a great job. I loved it. You so de Rainbow City (Arco Iris now). An went to Cristobal.

  • wow my memories make me cry. thanks for putting together the video. i miss the old days

  • Comment removed

  • Salao, raspao con doble leche, mamones etc etc .. Se he agua la bocaaaaa !!!!

  • I'm sitting here crying like a baby after watching this video. OMY it was so great to see everything that was the CANAL ZONE. We we're sooo luckey to grow up there. And only those of us that grew up there can truly understand this video. Thanks guys!!!

  • it brought back a lot of memories... like napoli..

  • Hey, I love this video, but the picture of the tamales is not of Panamanian tamales, which are normally wrapped in a (green) banana leaf. Bollos (snacks made of ground corn) are usually wrapped in corn husks. This video is really amazing, though, and I want to say thank you for making it. Brought back a lot of memories.

  • I love all of Shorty and Slim's music, I just wish there was a way I could get it with closed caption on it as well. I know a few Zonians that are hearing impaired that would love to be able to feel the rhythm while reading the Closed caption and watching the beautiful videos of Panama and the Canal Zone.
