  • Damn. I have been looking for this. Thx for posting. Love me some EWF!!!!!!!!

  • I have a need to watch this on a daily basis...it makes me smile.

  • Wow. Earth, Wind and Fire without costumes lol. Its this wonderful. May be lip syncing, but they did it darn well

  • Wow. Earth, Wind and Fire without costumes lol. Its this wonderful.

  • Oh my goodness, that was awesome. I love this band, my my!

  • Yes ... even tho they are lip syc ... Its still them singing ..

Hell--eerrr... Not like the other group who sung behind somebody else voice....:-)

  • i don't care if they are lip syiching as long as it's them that are on the tracks.....love it

  • they had alot of members in that group. i know that was norm for the day but i'm looking like whoa!

  • This was hot

  • THIS IS REAL TALENT!! ALL DAY LONG

  • MY AUNT INTRODUCE ME TO THESE GREAT ARTIST RIP AUNTEE.

  • Yes, they are lip syncing. But, to a live track recorded earlier specifically for this performance. It's not like their singing to a studio album like they used to do on American Bandstand.

  • One of my favorite all time groups. They can sure can swing ;-).

  • I'd never seen this before. This was AWESOME!!!! Thanks for sharing.

  • A great BIG THANK YOU for posting this lost, lost segment to the "Natalie" show that was on the air in the late '70's...featuring my most favorite group of all time, EARTH, WIND & FIRE!! Great performance it was!

  • Wow!!!! I remember this show! Got a lil jealous too from the kiss. Thanks so much for the post!

  • @lancetop I believe they could've played live if they choose to do so, and still sounded great!!! Unlike today's so called artists!!!!

  • @Chrthom92 I agree, they could have played live, but wouldn't have been able to include the costume changes.

  • @Chrthom92 this live medley is actually a pre recorded track that was recently added onto the remastered Gratitude CD. It sounds like this except for the talking parts. But, you're right they could've played the music live, but it sounds better like this.

  • @Chrthom92 For a good artist to sound great on TV has more to do with the skill of the sound technicians, and EWF -with so many musicians and instruments to equalize and put in the same balance as their albums - was a challenge above the heads of most TV studio sound techs in those days. Their sound quality would have come out a lot poorer, affecting their record sales, and maybe their morale.

That's the way of the world!

  • Lame ass lip sync.

  • @lancetop whatever.....even lip syncing, they are STILL the Elements, they forgot things about music that most of these so called artists today could ever know....Peace L.

  • @lancetop Why do so many people trip about lip-synching on old TV shows when 90% of all music videos are lip-synched even today? The only time anyone should be offended by it is if you are at a live show and paid to see a live performance.

  • @emmettk That's the feeling I got when I saw Madonna live and figured out she was lip syncing about 20 years ago in Oakland.

  • @mrmerrick, dam sure is

  • Maurice could seduce u with his moves...Sexy

  • @sexsavannah43 Maurice is sooooo sexy baby

  • OMG!!! That was hot. I wish I can go back...I miss those days so much

  • oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah!!!!!!!

  • These guys are all high on music and entertaining, so good see and hear.

  • :) good video :))))

  • Ahi ahi!! ....Tierra Viento y Fuego y Nathaly que buenoooooooo alli va

  • incomparable la voz de Philip Bayley...el mejor ...y lejos

  • maurice mackin' natalie down! she can't handle it!

  • WOW... Where can we get the whole show?

  • Heard Maurice state that the Serpentine Fire referred to the Kundalini concept, and simplified it to say "good shall overcome evil".

  • EW&F is by far the one of the greatest bands of Pop, Rhythm and Soul. Every single one of their songs are positive and uplifting. Pure talent in vocal and instrumental. Its almost hard to place them in any category of music because they blend so many influences. Not doubt ranking next to the beatles as song writers and fantastic performers. EW&F is simply the best!

  • EPIC!!! CLASS!! FLY!!! put that strut on em' Maurice!!! whats cool is that even though they are lip-syncing is that they remixed their songs just for the special!!!

  • Thx 4 sharing

  • That kills !!

  • this is brilliant. wish the medley were longer; they could've sung more songs like september and in the stone, etc...

this is some powerhouse singing, holy shit. this is what musical art is.

  • @TheGenre "September" and "In the Stone" hadn't been recorded yet. Besides this was only an hour long TV special.

  • What a GEM to see!!

  • briliant too good, ive been listening to them since they came out still fresh and some of the best alway feel happy when i see them

  • Damn I love Earth Wind & Fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love you nova

  • this here is some ICE COLD shit. Maurice with the outfit change staring at Natalie straight vamping. then Natalie coming on the mIc? is youtube somekinda dreamcatcher technology shit. WTF. (appreciate you posting this)

  • Who ever owns the rights to this show need to have it released on DVD. Natalie was on fire for this show (And still is on fire to this day). I'm sure her show tonight in NYC for her 60th birthday will be SLAMIN'..........

  • I remember seeing this special when It was on too...

  • Right now I am on a you tube EW&F journey (as I have been in the past)! This video right here is truly a treasure and its so funny because I don't recall seeing this show back in '78(even though I was just 10) I KNOW I would have rememberd it bcuz NATALIE COLE was my absolute fav. singer at that time and I have ALWAYS loved EW&F. But anyway seeing them together is so sentimental to me for so many reasons mainly becuz of the memories and the positive messages that we got from music back then.

  • What a real joy to see this video again. I

remember watcing this special with my sister in 1980. So nice to see it again.

  • Now this music here...Is actually when peoples actually WROTE their own sonhgs and PLAYED instruments.

  • The Professor remembers this video with a great deal of nostalgia.. NTA 2 Channel 5.. all of those funky videos 1982 - 86.. Wow (bring back those good times)!

  • Unbelievable this brought tears to my eyes .. good times indeed!!!

  • Did we really dress like this back in the day and think it was cool? lol... Awesome. Loved matching Natalie with my very favorite band of all time, Earth Wind and Fire! Great post.

  • Yes we did @ BigJoeTupuOLima; and we looked awesome! I rocked my Ditto jeans and my Lili Anne polyester tops. Kids don't have the style we had, we were off the hook, nor do they have the fun! The house parties, lol I could go on and on!

  • ihateyounatalie[.]com/?id=1836986

  • I remember when this came on. It was such a big deal because Maurice and Natalie shared a kiss in the middle. I remember it was choreographed by George Faison.

  • yea i have a pic of them praticing the kiss

  • Sorry, but that's all I have. I wish I had saved the whole thing back then. Glad you enjoyed.

  • This is one hell of a video gem. How often did EWF appear on TV. And Maurice singing to Natalie Cole..that's crazy. Did he get his grind on too!!! I hope they invent the time machine before I die. I'm just going back to a EWF concert in Detroit in 1979 that was just incredible.

  • EWF is my all time favorite. And, I'm pretty territorial when it comes to them. I know, sounds nuts. Anyway, I usually hate when others do EWF tunes. It just ruins the song. However, Natalie pulled it off. She sounded great & appeared to have a great time with the brilliant cats. She should have recorded some material w/ them. Like the emotions did. Bet it would have been real nice.

  • its good to see maurice and phillip singing side by side....the original line up. this is the shit

  • I nver seen this before untill tonight. ewf is my all time fav group....I nver seen them perform when i was young.....i had their albums.....cable was not around then.....they were like a mystery to me .....only time i seen them is Jet Magazine....and not untill their HBO in 82 did i first seem o t V hahah

  • I saw then when I was 3 years old on HBO in December of 1981.

  • yeah i seen them on HBO yeah in 81......i was 20yrs old......damn u remeber them at 3 years old...cool.....

  • Yeah I have a good memory plus EWF was a big deal in those days. They were all over the place and they were the first music group I was exposed too. What a time to be alive!!! I feel for the young kids who don't have good music like we did in the 80s and before.

  • fujigeneral u are agree!!!!!!!i love music of this era!!!!!!

  • they dont make them like that today a real diva go natalie you rock these pop tarts today sucks

  • Amen!

  • What happened to music this creative and performers this talented? Am I getting old or is music today the shits, compared to what it in the 70's and 80's?

  • It's not you. I'm 16. "Music" they pump out today is ****.

  • Anytime I saw EWF on television during the 70's on television, I was so excited for them and the exposure they received. If I did not see them, my parents told me what show they were on the night before. EWF was always an innovative group of entertainers and I will always love them no matter. All the memories of love and life, I would like to thank The Most High for bringing music into my life and being able to walk this journey.

  • i would like to see her doing all the hits she also did one with steven bishop ....on and on ....

  • does any body have more on this show ....

  • This is incredible, a fun slice of 70s cool and funk. I had the biggest crush on Natalie Cole. Maurice White is a musical genius. This was the hotness.

  • great! :)
