No doubt Madan Mohan gave innumerable beautiful songs to Lata - but it remains that as far ar ghazals are concerned, his best were undoubtedly for Talat - as this one proves !
By the way in the last stanza Talat sings "Ai dil itna BETAB na ho..."
@Coucoutchicou You are right. Talat Mahmood was Madan Mohan's favorite male singer. They met in Lucknow in 1946 and remained friends till the end. Regards.
talat sabaap ki to baat hikuch aur thi .don't;know from where you got so much of pathos in your so --so-- so much silky voice each and every song or ghazal is a gem in itself words simply can not express the feel simply ghazab
Thanks your previous.I am a great fan of Talaji too.His songs reflect the philosophy of life (Most of our lives our spent undergoing suffering, sadness and the pain associated thereof. If you don't live in the real world then it's like living in a fantasy (virtual real world) which is expensive fantasy.Talatji's songs coupled with his golden voice (with a tinge with sadness) make up of everything.
super-like!

Kyaa baat hai kalandar sahib, yeh gaana mujhe bahut pasand hai. Talat Sahib was one of the finest of the ghazal singers, probably even the best.

armaan hai jo nikle hi nahi
kuchh aansu hai jo bahe nahi
kuchh aise bhi apsane hai
jo hamne kisi se kahe nahi
kuchh hansi mein badle hai
aur apna dard chhupaya hai...
aisa lagta hai kaifi ifrani sahab ne meri kahani bayan kar di ho...
pta nahi ham mein se kitno ki
aisi dastan ho ..
