  • today wwe/wrestling sucks period. I dont care what anyone says wwe is a sell out today. there will NEVER real wrestling ever again. this pay per view is a prime example that it was awesome at the time and didnt need stupid acting and stupid story lines

  • @iLuVMeTaL4LiFe i meant to say there will NEVER be real wrestling ever again

  • funny how like half the people in this royal rumble.. are dead... :(

  • @joku54567 only 9 are dead, dick

  • @jgdgr81 you felt the need to count and correct me? did you do alot of googleing?

  • @jgdgr81 you felt the need to correct me? did you google all of the wrestlers to check? it is just a comment man no need to get hostile.

  • I was there and probably was the only kid pulling for 'the model'

  • I remember watching this event as a 10 year old kid back in 1991 on a cold wintery Saturday Night.. and on that very day I made sure that I finished all of my chores early and also my parents ordered Chinese Food for us on that memorable Saturday Night...and I could also remember my friends calling me on the phone around 9.30pm that nite to tell me that Warrior lost the title and as kids we were all pissed off..Great memories as a kid that can never be duplicated again.

  • @ateammember6 We always ordered pizza! Very cool to know there are memories out like this as well...oh to be able to go back just for a night!

  • Bushwhacker Luke was the funniest one of all.

  • the PPV INTRO COUNTDOWN WAS THE MOST EXCITING THING EVER WHEN YOUR MOM ACTUALLY LET YOU ORDER THE EVENT!!! likeeeeee she spent $30 on this eeeeeeeee.

  • @domotime2eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!! lol

  • snuka looked like xpac at 3:32

  • ahhman this is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This PPV is one of the most underrated PPVs in the history of wrestling!!!!

  • HAKUUUUUUUUUUU!

  • Not sure how Sgt. Slaughter is #1 contender. He was eliminated from the Survivor Series in his only other PPV since returning, and he only beat up on jobbers.

  • class class class!

  • WWE needs to have a throwback Royal Rumble just like when they had a Raw Old School in 2010

  • This is a very underrated pay-per-view and the Miami crowd was insane for the whole show with the exception of the Koko B. Ware-Mountie match.

  • I swear every japanese wrestler n da 90s came out 2 dat music

  • Vince McMahon makes any event exciting. He'd make even today's substandard programming sound decent.

  • Suprisingly Rowdy Rody Piper is not dead

  • man, Shaun Michales was young

  • This is awesome. Do they even do national anthems at events anymore? It is so refreshing to see everyone standing at attention paying homage to the flag and country and not see 10,000 dimwits afterwards waving cardboard neon signs in the air turning the crowd into a sea of oak tag. I would give absolutely anything to turn back the clock and live this moment in time over again. Does my car go to 88 MPH? I'm sure as hell still trying McFly.

  • @Maideneer ...LOL. They started off with the national anthem for exploitative reasons. Nothing more. The WWF was trying to get over their Slaughter/Hogan program which was exploiting the Gulf War. They never did it before or again...

  • @flipgood89 Mohammad Hassan says hello.

  • at least the mountie vs koko b ware made the dvd anthology to bad it didnt make the CHV

  • @stone85 --what is CHV?

  • @ThisJustin123 Coliseum Home Video

  • @stone85 --Thanks

  • 19 former champions in this event. I like 92 as my personal favorite rumble but 19 champs is impressive

  • @GLazz85 Do you mean former WWF Champions in this rumble? Because I only counted 4.

  • @therealphlatlyne No I meant IC and tag champs as well. The IC title used to be a big title

  • @GLazz85 Yeah it USED to be a huge title, now it means nothing.

  • @therealphlatlyne Should get rid of US title and World Heavyweight title...........that would make the IC champion big again. Before being the IC champ almost promised you would be wwf champ or atleast get a match

  • You can tell that Gorilla Monsoon and Roddy Piper, God Bless them, these two had a hell of a time working together at Survivor Series 90 and Royal Rumble 91. Throw in Bobby Heenan at SummerSlam 91 and what you've got is one of the greatest commentary teams of all time.

  • Max Moon was Conan from WCW, he said the gig only lasted a few months, bc he was young and immature, he would miss tv tapings, so vince let him go.

  • @roundface55 You're right Konnan was originally Max Moon, he only had a few matches though, none of which aired on TV. When he left they gave the gimmick to Paul Diamond.

  • Koko B. Ware faced the mountie, at this event, but it's a rare find, because coliseum video cut it on their official home video release.

  • Sad fact . . . several guys from the Rumble match (Hawk, Dino Bravo, Mr Perfect, Earthquake, British Bulldog, Hercules, Crush, Kerry Von Erich) are dead :(

  • @DukeofColumbia yes hard to believe so many of the wrestlers of the past are dead

  • Rowdy roddy piper does a great job of distancing the orient express form fuji who he dislikes. This is what helps the match. Rowdy gives credit to the orient express whilst refusing fuji. Very good work on all parties.

  • My f... god... what a lineup...

  • is that masked guy none other than the lethal weapon steve blackman?

  • @macparty311 Its actually not Steve Blackman its a wrestler called Paul Diamond, who also wrestled in the WWF as Max Moon.

  • I WOULD VOUCHER THIS THEME FOR THE RUMBLE TO BE USED EVERY YEAR AND THE SUMMERSLAM THEME FROM 91' EVERY PPV YEAR! I WENT 2 SUMMERSLAM 09 And Going Again This Year (With FLR Seats this time around) BUT IN MY MIND SHOULD'VE KEPT THOSE THEME They are AWSOME

AND For WWE 24/7 and the DVD To Screw This Theme and Survivor Series and Summerslam and have Vince removed the Voice Over Pissed me off

  • I remember sgt. slaughter got the biggest boo ever when he won the title the good ol' days.

  • On the Rumble anthology box set DVD they edited the music or some and you couldn't here Gorilla's "Hello ev'ryone..." commentary intro. They started exactly at 5:03 when Roddy says: "It's a jungle baby..." I was expecting the usual uncut broadcast but what the hell.

  • @cycobern : That's why I don't mess with recently produced WWE compilations. It's ridiculous all the editing that has taken place. If it doesn't say Coliseum Home Video on it I leave it alone. The 'Tagged Classics' are also very good.

  • I think Janetty once said that this was his favorite match...makes sense, this was one HELL of a match...perfect way to start off a pay per view, just let 4 great workers go out there and do what they do best

  • One of the best Royal Rumble match even to this day! My first WWE experience, it introduced me to the Hitman Bret Hat, who is second billed right after Hulk Hogan! He was already special!

  • one of the best wwfs pay per views well booked

  • Macho King did not wrestle at the previous Survivor Series either. The Rockers theme is similar to the Ultimate Warriors

  • This was the first PPV I got to watch LIVE as a kid. Still remember the Saturday night like it was yesterday. Good times.

  • Good time to be in Miami given that the month was January.

  • I remember this event on PPV. Those days where great!

  • I remember being there at the old Miami Arena for this...

  • This was my first ppv!! =]

  • sweet intro!

  • YOUTUBE RULES!!

  • is it just me or does the rockers theme sound similar to the ultimate warrior's?

  • The WWF, ooppps I mean WWE will never recapture the glory of the early 90s.

All my favorite old school wrestlers and personalities are dead! Gorilla Monsoon, Big Bossman, Earthquake, Mr. Perfect, Hawk, Texas Tornado, Hercules, Dino Bravo, Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith...and others.

RIP all of them. If baseball players were dropping like that, there'd be a goddamn Congressional hearing.

  • Did the Rockers ever become tag team champions?

  • well ya but the rope detached so they never aired it so in history , no.

  • They did at one time for a few hours but the decision was reversed because of some bull---! It was never made known or seen on television or even mentioned or highlighted.I read it in the Wrestler Magazine! Now that you bought it up I will try and get the facts!!!

  • Officially NO but they did win the belts. It was never acknowledged as a title win in history.

  • They did beat the Hart Foundation in what was supposed to be a match aired on SNME. If I remember correctly, it was about 30 minutes since it was a best of 3 falls. NBC told McMahon that he was only going to get a 60 minute slot on Friday for "The Main Event" (he usually got 90 minutes for Saturday Night's Main Event". They decided to cut the 30 minute match out of the broadcast to meet time constraints, and then made up a BS reason (rope detachment) to justify why the titles did not change.

  • another reason the match was not aired...the top rope broke during the match, Neidhart was leaving WWE at the time and was finishing up by helping put the Rockers over. After the taping...WWE and Neidhart reached an agreement. WWE decided to keep the belts on the Hart Foundation but a couple wrestling magazines announced the Rockers as champs so WWE put out a press release saying due to the top rope breaking, the match was thrown out. This was just to cover the fact that WWE changed their minds

  • Rowdy Piper as the color commentated, doesnt get any better than that.

  • Why were they so patriotic over a war that was obviously about oil and gaining a foothold in the region? Was there one "jaded cynic" in that building that buy into all of this USA crap?

  • i have this on tape, i dont like the royal rumble anthology because they edited alot of stuff which wasnt right. and another thing i didnt like is how randy savage was number 18 he came half way out then went back. what was that about?

  • Savage through himself out so therefore, was allowed back in!

  • no, that was royal rumble 92. im talking about this one. he came half way out then he went back. this was the time he cost warrior the wwf title to sgt slaughter

  • Well it was played off that an irate Ultimate Warrior chased Randy Savage out of the build after Savage cost the Warrior the WWF title. The second official screw-job ending to a WWF title match. The first being February 5th 1988 Hogan/Andre.

This is my favorite Royal Rumble BTW. '92 was probably the greatest collection of wrestling talent in one ring in wrestling history, but this one was hot all night long. entertaining. This Rockers/Orient Express match was one of the best ever.

  • that still doesnt explain why he didnt show up to the rumble

  • Sure it does. The Ultimate Warrior is already insane. After what Savage did if I was Savage I would have been on the next flight outta town! But seriously, that is the way they wanted the angle to play out in order to build more heat for their epic "Career Ending" match at Wrestlemania VII. Who knows? Maybe Savage had a injury to which he couldn't compete for awhile. Savage didn't really wrestle that much in late 1990 through early 1991 when you really think about it.

  • They would edit a lot of stuff from a WWF original tape, what kinda stuff did they edit?

  • re: Savage...i have to believe that was the coke at work. LOL. the angle was supposed to be that warrior ran him outta the building, but they never built on. it was odd indeed.

  • Did he actually come out? I dont remember seeing him come out at all.

  • i like the music when they were counting down to the royal rumble they should use it for royal rumble 2009, :)

  • I still remember this like it was yesterday...the rockers got one of the biggest pops maybe the biggest ovation in that event...u think girls go crazy for cena? u should have been around when the rockers were around..often u could not hear their music haha.AMAZING MATCH!!!

  • nice! like the pre countdown footage! This must have been taped during the actual ppv live event

  • You win at most ignorant post of the.........4 months?

  • get a sense of humour

  • get a job and provide your own wrestling footage chump

  • You are so slow it takes you 4 months to reply to me? Oh please I have a good job and don't bother to provide any wrestling footage on here as I don't need to pander to the masses.

  • I don't go on here as you can tell and just stumbled upon your gay comments. Seriously, I've been reading them for the most part of wrestling videos on here, you need to stfu and appreciate what's here for you. Moron.

  • It is easy to tell someone to shut the fuck up knowing that you are never going to meet then in person and tell them to their face.

I also detect homophobia on your part.

  • Yeah, I take people with english accents seriously, like you would pose some sort of a threat.

  • Who said I have an english accent? I dont because Im not english. You assume all sorts.
