  • Damn I never knew anyone other than myself to own one of these good review though :D

  • Wow that was the best game device review! So that's how come Europe stopped doing E-readers. That's how you get an Eon ticket! Well I guess there is only one thing left to do to earn my own Eon ticket and that's to hack. lol I feel so upset now that I have to hack my game into it so much to get it. :'( I wonder if there are any cheats for E-reader trainer battles?

  • Have you reviewed the gameshark sp yet?

I think it would be a great review.

  • @mrduckandBubbles I'm trying to see if I can gather some more cheating devices first, I don't actually have my Gameshark SP or my Action Replay SP anymore so I'd have to shell out some cash to replace them.

  • You know how many times i have heard "What's an E-reader". They make themselves sound so stupid and naive.

  • @DragonX7777 I don't think that's entirely fair. Given the complete failure of the E-Reader, not many people even heard of it. Not knowing about it doesn't make them stupid, it just makes them ignorant.

  • ...and here I thought the last failure Nintendo had was the Virtual Boy thanks for the info bonita señorita

  • I have 2cables, for i lost the first so i bought another, and after it came, i found it in my sisters room, im not supposed to go in there though :L

  • in the name of The Ultimate Sorcerer is it a chick who plays videogames? unbelievable

  • i remember that! :D

  • Great review, the e-reader is great it combines 2 of the things i love, trading cards & videogames. It's a huge shame that nintendo didn't support it a bit more as it really was a nice add on. I managed to get a lot of the japanese cards but missed out on a few series & now i regret it as i can't find them anywhere. Now that the 3DS has augmented reality & it uses cards i wonder if they could make it work like the ereader did. You show the camera a card & it scans it to your game.

  • @importaku Interesting... well knowing Nintendo, failure doesn't discourage them. The Power Glove didn't work out, but they tried again with the Wiimote. If you got cards on one handheld, try try again with the other!

  • I have an e-Reader, but I haven't used it in YEARS, mostly because the only scannable things I had were lost. >> I might sell it, but I have no idea who'd want one. o~o

  • @xNightstars Well they seem to go for about $20 on eBay! Theres a buyer for everything.

  • @xNightstars I Probably want It!

  • I want that mini tv, its super special awesome :D

  • @PikolUploader Yeah, its portable to some extent :D

Though its really old and its starting to die out, so I'm gonna shop for a cheap little TV since they don't make TVs that aren't flat screen anymore D:

  • @HirokaTamashii Yeah, crt have their charm. My home is LCD-lish, but i keep one crt for ps2 gamecube and couple other, old consoles ;)

  • @PikolUploader I just want one because for some reason its difficult for me to watch the LCD TVs. They usually only look right from one angle, and the colors tend to look over-saturated to me.

  • i used to have one but it got messed up

  • Holy crap! I have to thanks you Tamashii for something kinda unrelated to the video. When watching, I remembered the first video game I ever played (Mario Kart Super Circuit) that I had forgotten and I was trying to remember. for a really long time! Thank you, and I have to find my copy of that game.

  • @alanb9 Gosh o.o I'm glad I helped you remember, though I'm not sure I see the connection myself.

  • I need a e reader i has a eon ticket but i never got a e reader to scan it on my ruby or sapphire :( no were i can get one?

  • @FlyingGurtBoy eBay, but honestly its a bit of a waste of money. Even now they go for about $30 a pop.

  • @HirokaTamashii ok then

  • I still have this floating around, somewhere.

Didn't really use it for much, but I do have some Pokémon cards with the E compatibility.

  • I think I heard the E-reader unlocked a special gift in a japanese version of emerald. But I'm not entirely sure if I'm accurate on that one...

  • @Pokeeeveegirl Well, Japanese cards and games aren't compatible with the American e-Reader, so I can't look into it. I know the battle e-card series was in Japan too though, so its probably just referring to the enigma berries.

  • @HirokaTamashii There's a video I remember seeing a long time ago on youtube about it. I'll try to find it for you if you like.

  • @Pokeeeveegirl Hmm sure! I didn't see anything about it when I was looking stuff up for this review but if you can find it go ahead.

  • @HirokaTamashii Ok I've done some digging. It's not available in the english version since for the release of the game to come out on time, The had to get rid of the feature to make the deadline. Something like that. It was the old mans house in sootapolis city where the old man says he enjoys watching trainers battle. Anyway, apparently there's some hiker dude and he gives you stuff in the japanese version. However, in english, his textbox was change to ??? and he then corrups your game.

  • @Pokeeeveegirl Well, somehow I doubt that. None of the trainers even give you EXP, let alone a gift, and on top of that the data is stored on the cards, not within the game itself. There would be no reason for "running out of time" to implement the feature in the English version. And on top of that, you cannot scan Japanese cards on the NA e-Reader, and like I said the data is NOT STORED WITHIN THE GAME, just the cards, so there'd be no reason for anything to corrupt anything. D:

  • @HirokaTamashii No, no. Really you're not even allowed in at all. The people who manage to hack their way in, then talk to the hiker and get this text box;

    ??? ??? ???

    ??? ??? ???

Then the game is corrupted. The original video I found seems to have been removed. But I remember it so vividly. I even remember a few of the comments made. One person asking since he had a japanese version of emerald, that if he used the E-Reader, would he get in without hacking.

  • @Pokeeeveegirl No no I'm saying theres absolutely no way anyone could get that hiker's data in their game without scanning his card. Even if they were a hacker. There's nothing to hack to get to the data if the data isn't there in the first place. If its not an American card, it can't be used on American games and therefore nothing would happen. The data for the e-reader trainers isn't stored within the game itself in any way. I'm serious. They're not in the game at all. They're in the cards.

  • @HirokaTamashii Ok I don't even know anymore. All I know about the E-reader is from your video. Whether that room has anything to do with it, I'm not sure.

Although It funny, the room is there, it was just moved to Sootapolis in Emerald, while it's in Mossdeep in R/S and it's not so much a door as it is some stairs blocked by trees. People just hack the game by moving the stairs or make another door in the game an entrance point into the room. But hey, at this point, I'm don't even know.

  • @Pokeeeveegirl Yes I know you can get in the room without an e-Reader if you hack it, but theres no data for whats in the room stored within the game. Its like hacking to get into the room for a link cable battle.

  • 3:10 IT'S ALIVE! Or at least it just looks like a mad scientist experiment with all the stuff attached to it.

I had two or three Pokemon cards that made up a music box game, but I think that was about it. Everything else came with the e-Reader itself.

  • @VSHDVideos Yeah, thats about all I have in terms of Pokemon TCG e-Reader cards. I have one melody and one sound for the Construction Melody game and thats it.

  • poor jizg, his wild limey got away

  • couldent that thing get hacked to unlock all the games on it.

  • @RollandsGhost No, because the data for the games is stored on the card, not the device itself.

  • Another awesome review. Only thing I'd say would be turn up your mic volume a bit or turn the music down. Your voice is a bit...Higher-pitched and soft (if you catch my drift ^^'), so sometimes it can be hard to hear. Either that, or I'm just deaf.

  • @WolfyOneeSama I tried something different with Camtasia this time ("Even out volume levels") and it didn't work very well. Next time I'll go back to the way I did it before, which was manually.

  • @HirokaTamashii Ah, alright. And I've been meaning to ask this (Youtube wouldn't let me comment at the time), but why don't you want people to know your real name (probably a stupid question *cough*).

  • @WolfyOneeSama Well originally it was because I wanted to be like a super hero XD

So and so by day, INTERNET SENSATION BY NIGHT!

But now its just because Ive kept it up this long it would be a shame to let it go now.

  • @HirokaTamashii Lol. xD Super Tamashii, the Woman of Hacks.

Yeah, I can see what you mean by that, lol.

  • Great review.

  • What for? Get well soon. Damn the E-Reader was a gip

  • @Kefkaownsall It's a very minor surgery, really nbd =)

  • @HirokaTamashii Good luck. Also I count the gameboy player as an add on so I guess that was successful

  • @Kefkaownsall Hm I suppose so D:

  • @HirokaTamashii can't think of anything else

  • @Kefkaownsall There was also the Super Gameboy for the SNES which was basically the same thing, but thats about all I can remember.

  • @HirokaTamashii That I think did well

  • @BlizzaroiPheniox Hmm well in that case, I'll have to look at prices for the 64DD itself. I can't imagine it'll be cheap though

  • @BlizzaroiPheniox Really now? Many of the games are add ons to other games though. You couldn't play an American game with Japanese added content could you? O.o

  • can u review that n64 thing u mentioned it looked interesting and i never seen/heard of one of those before ( the addon not the console )

  • @draagon9900 I would if I could! Sadly it was only released in Japan and will only work with Japanese consoles. It would cost an arm and a leg to buy both a Japanese N64 and the 64DD. There were very few games released for it anyway, so try finding out what you can from Google if you're interested =)

  • @HirokaTamashii hmm i will thx i kinda see why the e-reader wasnt popluar cause of all the money it would take do do anything gd with it

  • I. . Learn so much my Tamichi . . I can now brag to all my awesome buddies about new things I've learn xD <3 great review I'll be waiting for more =].

  • I feel smarter about the nintendo stuff :) this review is cool, since I never got a e-reader and all other YouTube videos on this subject get boring :P you got humor and knowledge in your reviews. Keep doing them please n_n

  • @SutoomiJFox Thanks! I'm glad you like them. I'm actually surprised now in the related videos just how many other e-Reader reviews there are, since its a pretty obscure attachment o.o
