thunderball was originally to be called Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, then the song. Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was made. I wouldn't call it recycled, its apart of Bond lore now

Actually broccoli was trying to re-negotiate the rights to Casino royale just before production of this movie - but the plans never solidified. I stand by my original post.

Garbage's is much better! It had a recognisable theme, it used fantastic orchestral arrangements, and it didn't commit the unspeakable faux pas of directly referencing past Bond themes (kiss kiss, bang bang).

Garbage, easy. Their sound morphed a lot easier from alternative rock/pop to the orchestration of a Bond theme better than anyone else at that time, and Shirley's vocals are perfect for the Bond world.

Garbage is better simply because it sounds more "Bondish". This is a great song, don't get me wrong. However the one they used in the movie had the strings, the brass, the sounds of an orchestra that tell me it's a true James Bond movie.

Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is an Italian & Japanese nickname (I forget exactly which) for Bond; it's also the name of a track (alternate theme) on the Thundarball soundtrack.
