Siri runs on the cloud (that is, on mainframe) rather than running on your iPhone's CPU. That's why you need to connect to Apple server in order to use it.

Just think, the first computer took up about the same size as watson. Maybe, in 80 years time, we'll have computers as smart as watson sitting on our desks or even in our ovens. A whole world of information, wherever you are. The internet could become obsolete...

OMG, this is exactly what my thesis is about. except it's geared towards the web. I'm currently building a web search engine that has natural language processing. I've working on it since 2008. I guess it sucks to be poor. :( D**n IBM!!

gotta say the presentation was great too would be great to see watson evolve to the point where it can not just answer a question but also give thorough explanations on complex issues like this introspective "science of how it answers questions" these kind of infographic presentations should be the status quo of information consumption in the future like qwiki meets watson on steroids
