  • I just realized I have replayed this clip almost twenty times in a row. Aw what the hell, one more...

  • I can keep this song on replay and never get tired.

  • A great post.

  • I was there that night and it was magic! The fact that he had just turned 60 and he and the band can deliver moments like this is amazing. That's why we love the Boss!

  • I was there that night and it was magic! One of those moments that Bruce can still come up with and keeps me coming back again and again!

  • agree with the poster right before me - if you can watch this w/o smiling, there is seriously something wrong w/you.

    quintessential bruce. freaking love it!

  • simply makes you smile :D

  • The mighty sax, clarence putting the soul in soul train, all aboard now, gotta love it.

  • The Spectrum was such an awesome arena. What a waste.

  • That security guard up front, how in the world does he hold himself back from singing?!? lol

  • Love this, as a soul lover from the 60's, I look on this a real homage, as someone else said it's apparent he just loves being able to pay tribute to this legendary song.

    Thanks.

  • I think this is live rock 'n' roll perfection - The Boss is just a master of his craft and has been for decades - a true legend.

  • Thanks for posting. What sheer joy I feel ... the power of Rock n Roll and the E Street band!

  • This is not singing... this is making fun, and joy, with the crew, with the other mucisians, with the people.. unbelievable... how is he doing that?? again and again... thanks Bruce...

  • Bruce could move the Statue of Liberty without any special "ooze"

  • He's so fucking loose on stage, you can tell he is there to have fun, not just to sing and entertain.

  • It is no suprise that the Rock n Roll HOF concert nights concluded with Bruce and ESB singing this song.

" I know it's only Rock n Roll. But it feels a lot like love."

  • This is just fuckin awesome. I saw him twice during the european leg of the WOAD tour and, man, it was so fuckin great. But this is soooo fuckin fantastic. Reminds me of some wild nites at the Spectrum in the early eighties. Viva Philly.

  • such a great song!

  • ghostbusters 2!!

  • I love 6:30. Bruce & Soozie were really jigging... hahahaha.

  • amazing the greatest band in rock and roll histroy

  • Woo Hoo I was there back in '73 to see Bruce and then again at the end

  • Springsteen is amazing. But, that feels like an understatement. Anyone who thinks he sucks is a moron..

  • @KleWdSide seriously dude i know! how could he suck? his music is so easy to listen too and unbelievable to see live. I can see people diggin' other music, but to say he sucks must be deaf.

  • @smartman43 Seeing Springsteen live is like a 3 hour roller coaster ride, but better. :-)

  • @KleWdSide Yeah at least after seeing Springsteen you're not nacious

  • @smartman43 BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

  • You will not find anyone with more stage presence or having as much fun as Bruce.

  • The whole song is a big PARTY! You can nothing but dance, dance and dance!!:-)

  • As Bruce is supposed to record all his shows this could and should be released as a single. Its just amazing that he should reach a peak like this after 30 years! Easily the best Springsteen live performance ever!!!

  • Bruce giving props to the GREAT Jackie Wilson. Good job.

  • If this song doesn't get you on your feet, your declared dead!

  • All hail the Big Man..and the Big Ramm. May the dynamic duo stay together for the next tour.

  • killer vid! *****! clarence

  • pff I never want to be a security guy in front of the Pit at a Bruce Springsteen concert.

I would go nuts when I can't sing/move during a Bruce Springsteen concert. The energy is just unbelievable!

  • come faremo due anni senza di loro..... :-(

  • The most insane singalong that I was ever part of. Everyone in the building was in the band by the end of the song.

  • The tightest band in the history of Rock n Roll, The BOSS & The Mighty E. STREET BAND!!!!

  • @calvers72 ....it's a brotherhood. luv em

  • the song did become the show closer after this, but the philly version was never topped. bruce had the backup singers take a verse and that killed the crowd and momentum of the song.

  • Well, Curtis and Cindy never had quite enough to do during shows, so I think he wanted to give 'em a chance to shine.

Because they are good singers; I hope he brings them back on the next tour. But you're right - this is the BEST version

  • And so a true set-closer for the last shows of the Working on a Dream Tour was found off a simple request.

Bruce and his fans need to be shaking the hand of whoever asked for this one, 'cause they had it right.

  • thaaaaaanks!

  • I'm so impressed with your video!! Thanks for sharing!

  • fantastic freaking footage. many thanks!

  • the idiot with the

    "for you

    for me"

    sign is killing it

  • I was at this show with my nine year old daughter. I have seen a lot of great live shows, but this may have been the best!

  • Pure Joy

  • Let me correct myself. Just found the Boston 77 version. Still what great night that was. Who's that down the end of the alley?

  • It just amazes me how the band can play a song for the first time and it sounds like they have played it forever. I took my ten year old son to this show and he fell in love with this song. He plays the sax part around the house pretending he is the big man.

  • Have you read this Big Man's book? There's a part in it where a kid about 10 years old hopes on stage with him and rocks out. And I agree with you, I was at the Chicago concert when they played mony mony for the first time and it was fantastic seeing the band go to work

  • @currierjmar

Cool. I started playing sax cause I thought the same at age 12!

  • this is fantastic! thank you

  • I have been a Bruce Springsteen fan for almost 25 years and have seen him some 70 odd times in concert. However, at this show, which I attended, the Philadelphia Spectrum's last Bruce show, I have never seen Bruce enjoying himself more onstage then during this version of Higher and Higher. (The first time the song had... been performed by Bruce and the Band since 1978). It is pure unbridled joy of a man doing a job he loves more than life itself. We should all be so lucky.

  • Well said.

  • This is amazing. I love how they've been coming up with these great covers, seemingly impromptu, from fan suggestions.

  • Thanks, this movie makes bad days never come.Just have this near you..

  • That was awesome. I loved the set list we had in Fla but I look at the ones that came after and wished we had a few of the rarities like this.

  • there switch up to D is unbelievable.. E Street doing great work

  • this is such a good song!

he should definitely play this more often.

  • ONLY IN PHILADELPHIA!!!!!!

  • This video is still amazing... and I've seen it numerous times... still an unreal performance... when he turns it up right around the 6 minute mark... damn

  • No doubt about who the BOSS is......Have you seen him dancing with his mum....!!!!OMFG!!!!!!Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You gotta love the new dimension Curt adds to the band.

And also, just look how loose Bruce is in this, it's fantastic to see him, as well as the band having so much fun.

  • After that Boston version of March 77, to see again H&H live was one of my best dream! unbelievable...rise to the D..no words!

  • As always. The best.

  • Look at the ad signs behind the stage. Philadelphia Daily News, Chickies and Petes, MAB Paints. If you're in your 40's like me and have seen the Band in that building lots of times, this video really hits home you. Thanks soooooo much for posting. Great job from the floor. I'm one of those faces behind the stage... we had a blast that night.

  • Thanks for posting! Now I can relive the night with video, not just in my mind! :-)

  • Awesome! Thanks MagicRat!

  • Incredible performance!! I think this was the first time they'd played this song in 28 years, what other band around could pull it off like that?? I saw Bruce at the RDS in July and wish I could see him in a more intimate environment like this, sounds like it was one of the shows of the tour

  • This is the 8th time I've seen The Boss. I was at the historic Spectrum concert the night he turned 50, ten years ago. This time I brought my 13 year-old daughter and she is now a Springsteen fan for life. How could you not be?!!! He and the E Street Band were so amazing this night, I am still flying from it. Thanks so much for posting this terrific song.

  • Wow, amazing!

  • Definately a highlight of this show! Thanks for posting.

  • bruce, thanks to exist!

  • Put down the fucking signs while he's playing!!! What, you think he's going to stop what he's playing mid-song to honor your request, you selfish asshole?

  • thank you Bruuuuce

  • I was at the show...it was my 113th Bruce show....I can say, without a doubt, it was the single greatest performance of a song, by the e street band, that I ever witnessed....it was transformative and joyous.....and every song played after that sounded even more intense and inspired......rosalita, for example, which I've seen countless times never was more exhilirating

  • I was at the show too...unbelievable performance, and the video, great as it is, doesn't even do it justice!

  • This is exactly why I keep returning again and again to see The Boss. Wish I'd been in Philly this night! Meadowlands was GREAT but this night seems like the best of the whole tour!!!

  • Fantastic!!! Thanks, MajikRat!!!

  • Another amazing video and another amazing performance. Thanks for all your hard work.

  • How many bands can do this on basically a moments notice? Just amazing.

  • This one of my favorite moments from this incredible concert the other night. I never considered this song to be anything special when Jackie Wilson sang it in the 60s or Rita Coolidge in the 70s, but once it got "Bossified" - well, just incredible. Great, great version! Bruce is the best!

  • Amazing version of this classic

  • Does not getter any better than that

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This concert was awesome, highlighted by this great song. The electricity in the arena was tremendous. I seen Bruce 40 times and this show was top 5

  • This is why i'm flying overseas to see Bruce and the band at the Madison Square Garden in November :) This is exactly why!!!

  • this brought tears to my eyes remembering endless night playing the boot Forced to confess. Thanks for sharing

  • Excellent vantage and capture...everything is terrific...wonderful video...you have captured some of the excitment of seeing him live...I have one last at bat...MSG in November...

    Can't wait...thanks for posting...

    H H H

  • I've been to probably 80+ Bruce Springsteen concerts, and this song was definitely one of the high points. He always puts so much into his music, but this was just exhilirating!

  • What a fantastic video!! Bruce sings this song perfectly; one of my favorites!! You did a fabulous job filming this!! Wish I could have been there!!

    BRUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCEEEEEEEE!!!!

  • Thanx for all the Philly vids! They have been fantastic! You've been tweeted and posted all over the web!

  • This video truly is remarkable... very well done... Just gotta love the energy in this

  • OH MY GOD!!! This song/video makes you dance and dance and dance and smile and smile and smile.....!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! FUN!!! TRUE BRUCE HYSTERIA!!! It's what it's all about!!! Can't wait to see them AGAIN!

  • Thanks so much for this post. I officially cast my vote for TheMagikRat to shoot the next live Springsteen DVD! The videos from this Philly stand have been amazing!

  • Love this song! Love Bruce!

  • I love it to see him having so much fun during his concerts at his age and with his experience. One of a kind!
