I'm sorry, but what does it matter how you eat an oyster? Maybe some people don't like the shell touching their mouth, maybe some people don't like slurping the oyster. Get over yourself, it's like saying eating pasta should only be done with a fork when it can be done with a spoon if need be.
Never seen those types of condiments in the US for raw oysters. Usually it's crackers and a bit of cocktail or mignette...'course I like them with just a squeeze of lemon. Were you in Thailand or the PI when you filmed this? I know Thais eat theirs with raw garlic, chili sauces, and various herbage.
