This was so popular when I was in college, we would ride around in my friends car and crank up the volume!!!! This is not only a great song but the whole album was fantastic.
Whoever dislikes this song should be ashamed of themselves. This song (and songs from the 60's to the 90's) are a lot better than today's shitty music.
got grounded from their concert in nebraska back in the 80's finally saw them with april wine in des moines this summer...had a blast! they're great live.
...bring a good feeling ain't had in such a long time! LOVE HEAD EAST. I graduated HS in 1979! This song was raging all over the radio waves! What a great time to be a youngster!!!!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!
This is some bogus shit! This is not Head East on the video and posting somebodies' high school band on the video with Head East playing from the album is just freakin' sad! What do I know? I played the Illinois circuit back in the day at the same clubs as Head East , Cheap Trick and many others and this is a sham.
FInallly!! I wanted to find out who sang this song for the longest time, have always loved it, it would be on the radio once in a blue moon and the fuckers would never say who sung it! heard a live band at a casino rock the socks off this jam the other night and i was like god-dammit, im gona find it! hell yeeeah, thank God for the YouTube time machine! Gratitude for the post
Can somebody, anybody, put "Specialty" by this group on here...I think it was the first song on the album after this one....it's another great song by these guys that never got it's due.
Reminds of the good ol days road tripping, partying and working in the oilfields. Life was simple and fun . You could still have bon fires and party like rock stars until the sun come up. Great song...
Im only 22 but thankfully my parents raised me on "the good shit". Stuff like this will never die. I might also add that I am building a time machine. Yes, you heard me right, a time machine. Who wants in??
Winter 79. Gonzo and I "Headed East" down US 90 New Orleans to Biloxi. Outlaws headlining, we are southern boys...walk in middle of opening act - Head East. Nice sound, though we were clueless. They played this at the end of their set...Fairly close to the stage, Gonzo and I looked at each other when the lights came on and said, "WHAT THE FORK WAS THAT!" This is an incredible rock and roll song!
God, good times. I remember partying to this song, and thinking midnight was still "early." Now I can barely make it up past 9:00 pm. Oh, to go back and live some of those days over.
I remember listening to this song and telling my daughter in the late 90's...this song has one of the best screams of all time! She loves is and she is gen Y. 27 now and still appreciates the older, great stuff. :)
I was sitting at a table in a bar, and the band was playing this song. Suddenly someone grabbed my hand and pulled me onto the dance floor. We have been married 27 years this month.
@deborelli Hey, that is a great story. Not to be crude but this song got me wonderfully laid by someone I still know and love. One Hit Wonders Rock!!! My 19 year old son and his gf went to town with me the other day, he says as we were listenin to a classic rock station on the radio, " I wish I was around in dad's era of music, it so rocks, my generation so sucks" funny thing, I tried to tell all of them that for years, 3 of the 4 got it, the other can hiphop his rappen ass out the door
I was thinking of this song last night. Remember Head East performing at the Lost C nightclub longgggg time ago...They rocked the house..best song I ever listened to growing up and still I think of them and this song....You guys deserve an award for real!
it's time guys. It's time to put this song into rock n roll history perspective. What do I mean by that? For much too long, this classic rocker hasn't received the critical and mass acclaim it greatly deserves. In my humble opinion, this is the greatest rock n roll song ever recorder.
@harvbanger Although I hesitate to call anything the "greatest" in rock, I agree with the spirit of your post wholeheartedly and confess to having similar thoughts everytime I listen to this tune.
OK, so maybe I went overboard just a tad....it's difficult naming ANY song the greatest of all time. Let's just make this easier by saying this song should be considered one of the greatest rock n roll songs of all time. Is that fair?
@harvbanger i half agree! not the GREATEST ever recorded, because that number one spot soesnt exist, seriously! too many greats to determine that!!! but this is def in the top 50 for sure, cant place it properly though....hmmm, dude its just to hard to put a number on the classics!
wow, I'm 51 and it only seems like yesterday when I heard this. PARRRRTY ON!

"Flat as a Pancake".......One of those "staple" albums kinda like "Frampton Comes Alive"....that EVERYONE had in their collection back in the day.
Every generation has it's dominant soundtrack, and the 70's was THEE dominant decade for exellence in Rock music.

it's time guys. It's time to put this song into rock n roll history perspective. What do I mean by that? For much too long, this classic rocker hasn't received the critical and mass acclaim it greatly deserves. In my humble opinion, this is the greatest rock n roll song ever recorder.

@harvbanger They certainly deserve to be on next years R&R Hall of Fame ballot list. ;)

Is that fair?
harvbanger 1 year ago
@cohenfs Of course it's fair!
