But where that point becomes nullified is that the only time we've ever seen Cotto lose or come close is when he was forced backwards (Margarito and Close call with Clottey). No man who wasnt able to force him backwards was able to withstand that type of power and pressure when he is able to come forward. That's what makes this an intriguing fight. Honestly, I see Cotto winning this fight, maybe even easily. Pacquiao is an all-time great and i absolutely adore his fight game. Easily my fave to watch in the post-Mayweather era (which is not over) but that being said, there comes a point when all water runs dry. I have watched fight footage (approx 4 1/2 hours worth and im not done) but i just see so many things that point to his size and power here. That 142lb request was his best option. he failed to get that, and lost his chance to win
Floyd did beat the odds...not the betting odds, but him winning was no sure thing. Some still felt he lost, but those were the guys wanting to see a KO. Relative to punch stats, they aren't an exact science, but they're the most accurate measure we have. give or take a few punches, and you still have a landslide, infused w/speed, defense, and counterpunching from Floyd. and by the way, just like MP used his speed and footwork to defeat ODH, he could do that against MCotto

I'm going 4 MC, now I respect MP skills. He's the top dog in TODAYs boxing, that's the truth. I do give MC a better chance to win that many people cause I know people close to his camp & he's extremely motivated for this fight. I believe that MC size, jab & boxing skills will prevail. Now I'll not underestimate Manny skill and possibilities, that's what Hatton did & everybody saw what happen. I know MC beat SSM, I'm just saying, styles makes fight & SSM is more apposite to Manny's than Cotto's

gerryboy101 you are 100% right 6 world titles in 6 different weight classes is a heck of an achievement. The comments that I made b4 is related to Manny wanting that 7th title. If the title is not an issue here manny doesn't need Cotto nor anybody else, he is in the top of the food change in regards to boxing. Now if he wants the 7th title, TODAY, nobody will bring the cash plus the title recognition that Cotto brings to the table. !!!

manny already made history. 6 titles in 6 divisions while skipping a division 115lb super flyweight. the only other person to have 6 titles in 6divisions is odlh. manny also is the first boxer to win the lineal championship in four different weight classes. he is being compared to the alltime greats. floyd hasn't achieved this level...yet

Even if Mosley agrees to put the title @143 will bring 3 big issues. 1) a BIG as * next to the W (if Manny wins) for fighting a 38 old guy that hasn't there in + than 10 yrs, that will be the same as DLH issue, fought a drain man. 2) Arum will have to deal w/ GBP, he REALLY DOESN'T WANT TO DO THAT. 3) This will void Cotto's 2 yrs extension w/ Top Ranks..and Arum really doesn't want that to happen, specially this might be Manny's last fight. They want to get PBF next if not that's it for Manny.

I have told people that. Mosley is mos def not a great matchup for him. Arum and Roach have both said that. Cotto isn't a walk in the park, but Mosley would be murder.

Well MC Team knows that MP needs Cotto more than people think, if he wants to make history. Mosley said that he'll fight Manny @ 140 4 Manny's jrWW belt or he'll go to 143 no belt. Mosley is NOT a good match 4 Pacman, if you know boxing you know that. Berto won't bring the same cash + don't posses the status yet. So is Cotto or wait for Floyd to beat JMM (tough fight) fight 4 a belt & then fight Manny. Today, who else will bring the cash and the title that Pacquiao wants other that Cotto? 0!!

MeRuffus, you could be right. I heard earlier as well that Cotto said the strap was NO WHERE IN THE PAPERWORK...If that's true, Arum may have some answering to do. Maybe that's why Arum is agreeing to pay the fee, but for Cotto, it's not about the fee, it's about the principle. He was told the exact opposite. Now he's being told he has to put the strap up. WTF?

I think this fight is a NO-GO. Just read in a puertorican newspaper that Cotto is very heated w/ the WBO trying penalizing him for not fighting 4 the title. He was very clear he will pay the $150k fee for not fighting for the title as stipulated in the documents that he & his lawyer agreed on @ 145 or he will put the belt if the fight is @ 147. I know Pac Team wont agree on that so I think it will be Pacquiao Mosley @ the end of the day!!!

He won't get the same cotto that fought clottey, and besides, he isnt big enough to do what clottey did to cotto. cotto is coming in w/a chip on his shoulder. he has everyone talking about history and all this crap like he's surrendering his strap at the negotiating table. it's hilarious. this will be an ultimate test for manny pacquiao. i love the guy but this could be the fight where it all comes tumbling down. i just really have that gut feeling

my dude you said hes better fighting cotto and not ssm cuz mosley will match his speed and power? ok didnt cotto show he is just as fst or faster than ssm in that fight? i may say ssm might have a bit more power but in my opinion cotto will time pac to be able to counter and slow him at the body and eventually land a shot on pac that he has never felt b4 in his whole time in boxing! i see cotto takin this fight by ko! around rounds 6-8!

Honestly, I see Cotto winning this fight, maybe even easily. Pacquiao is an all-time great and i absolutely adore his fight game. Easily my fave to watch in the post-Mayweather era (which is not over) but that being said, there comes a point when all water runs dry. I have watched fight footage (approx 4 1/2 hours worth and im not done) but i just see so many things that point to his size and power here. That 142lb request was his best option. he failed to get that, and lost his chance to win

There is no way Cotto can get down to 142.
I'd be scared if he did. What if he went into a coma? LaLonde looked like he was gonna die after Leonard knocked him out.
I'm thinking Cotto by UD too. Pac might get banged to the body earyly then will fight on survival mode.
But, at the back of my head says Pac went to see Cotto-Clottey. He must have seen something too he liked.

Floyd did beat the odds...not the betting odds, but him winning was no sure thing. Some still felt he lost, but those were the guys wanting to see a KO. Relative to punch stats, they aren't an exact science, but they're the most accurate measure we have. give or take a few punches, and you still have a landslide, infused w/speed, defense, and counterpunching from Floyd. and by the way, just like MP used his speed and footwork to defeat ODH, he could do that against MCotto

Cotto is a different animal. He doesn't fight all that well on his toes but he can really hurt Pac in the body if Pac stays in that pocket too long.
He better not trade hooks with Cotto or plant his head on Cotto's shoulder.

Floyd was the betting favorite in that fight.
Also, punch stats do lie.
People push that button. They make mistakes.
Also Pac did let Oscar come to the ring bigger ( he tried ). Pac weighed-in at 142. It's not his fault Oscar was too lazy to work his weight down instead of going Atkins' diet.
We really should start a movement to erase Ray Leonard's win over Hagler. And his super middle and lt heavy belts should be erased.

Yeah Joey....Sounds funny, but strategically, a smaller ring means less room to run - which is why ODH demanded a smaller than typical ring for his fight against Mayweather. Another psychological stimulator that meant nothing in the end.

i understand if u want pac to concede... but dont compare it to floyd vs DLH. bcuz when DLH fought floyd... DLH was the cash cow and whoever is the biggest draw gets to call the shots. i dont agree with it but thats how money affects boxing. in the pac vs cotto situation... pac is the cash cow so he gets to call the shots bcuz he is the bigger draw. floyd HAD TO concede to DLH for the money. same way as cotto has to concede to pac for the money.

You took that point out of context dude. My ONLY point in bringin' ODH into the argument was the fact that Floyd did what Pacquiao has been a bit reluctant to do. Which was allow his skills to compensate for losses in other areas, (size, money, etc). Floyd let ODH come in2 the ring bigger, and used speed, defense, and skills to defeat him. Pacquiao has the speed, (maybe not the defense), but if he fights a smart fight, he can win. At 145 or 147, on fight night, Pac will be smaller regardless

u cant compare them that way bcuz they are in 2 different positions. floyd didnt concede to prove a point... he HAD TO concede to DLH bcuz floyd wasnt the bigger draw. but pac IS the bigger draw vs cotto. he gets to call the shots vs cotto jus like DLH called the shots vs floyd. i dont agree with how that works... but thats the business of boxing. on fight night, cotto is gona way 10 lbs more than pac ANYWAY. isnt that enough of a disadvantage? i dont recall DLH being 10 lbs heavier than floyd.

Yea but its not a welterweight sanctioned fight because 145 is not the limit. IF pacquaio is such a great great great fighter like you are saying, why dont he beat Cotto at his best? I didnt see Roberto Duran going up in weight and telling people to come in 2 or 3 pounds under their weight divisions limit, give me a break, pacquiao is a bully... trying to get all the advantages.

My logic is whether Cotto weighs in at 145 or 147, Pacman will have to beat a man who outweighs him by more than 10lbs come fight night anyhow, so why not give Cotto the two pounds, and use speed and defense with his power to beat him (if he can) like Floyd did against Oscar.

I dont get why a lot of people are complaning about the catchweight. Cotto only need to go down 2 lbs, he only need to lose that on one day during the weight in and Cotto has one day to eat as much as he wants for the fight to gain back his enery. Good take on this one sir... as a PACMAN fan, I want him to win, but as a boxing fan, I want him to win and silence his critiques by fighting COTTO at 147 lbs. I know he got a hell of a chance in winning that fight even at 147. In my POV, maybe roach doesn't want another DLH/HOP scenario, so he keep on squeezing the fruit for some extra juice... Can't blame him though 'cause that's what a good, loving trainer should do... PEACE^^
