The guy that I was replying to obviously did not know anything about how Japan builds their cars, and I replied that they are built to attack corners as opposed to American Muscle (except the Corvette), which focuses on quarter mile times. The ZR1 actually has the same time as the 2010 R35 GT-R in the Nurbugring. Considering the HP difference, it is wise to think that the GT-R is well over superior.
i`ve seen comparisons on you tube where the zr1 out handles the gtr through a tight slalom circuit where speeds dont exceed 75mph . also creates more g`s roung corners. 1.1 i believe . this is where the gtr should convincingly win .... and doesn`t !
That's only in the slalom area. The weight of the ZR1 combined with it's power makes up for a pretty good car. GM yet again succeeds. And that is the reason why it has the same time as the GT-R, which wasn't even intended to match higher leagues the likes of the ZR1. It was meant to battle the Carrera GT, which is in the same HP league, 500HP.

Because the GT-R got the same exact time as the ZR1, considering that advantage in HP, the GT-R was equally superior on the track. All I'm saying is that the ZR1 should be competing with competition with the same HP league. The GT-R competes with the Porsche at 500HP or less.
Just because it has more horsepower means nothing. Take away the GTRs awd traction control and all the other bs computer handling crap the zr1 doesn't have and see how it handles.
First of all the GT-R comes with all those features as a whole. In other words, every added traction control and computer "bullshit" is essential for the car to run as it does. The car wasn't built without those features so obviously in order to for the car to work at it's max performance it has to have those features. It would be illogical to take off the most essential features the car needs.
I know what you're trying to say. The ZR1 is built the way it is. It performs it's maximum without any computer peripherals, as opposed to the GT-R, which relies on computer peripherals. Two different types of cars. Regardless of how they're made or what they need in order to run at their peak, both cars are magic and I love both the ZR1 and the GT-R.
Although I do give Chevy much credit for the ZR1, everything I've read about it's handling was not so good, I'm not talking about numbers here as the numbers are world class yet they only tell part of the story. From what I've read (many articles) only a professional/experienced driver can get maximum performance from the ZR1 as the car is quite a handful. The GTR on the other hand is much easier to drive as even a novice can fully exploit its capabilities.
it's weird how peple would say that the handling on the ZR1 isn't good, when in fact, it outclasses both the Porsche and the GT-R in the Nurbugring. Check the lap times yourself. If the handling on the car wasn't so good, then why does it have a lesser time than both the Porsche and the GT-R? Ask yourself.
I don't think you understand my point. To make it a bit easier for you, the GTR is an easier car to drive fast whereas the ZR1 is much more difficult. Any car can make good numbers but there is more to performance than numbers. I'm fairly sure a driver with a medium level of track experience would turn much better lap times in the GTR vs the ZR1 because of the high level of skill required to extract maximum performance from the ZR1.
@blkguynlex nah dude the zr1 doesnt use that much skill its harder to get a cobra /mustang around a track because of the set up but the corvette is made for this it is so even yea the awd maybe easyer for the first 5 mins but once you get the hang of it in the next 5 the zr1 will win
Of course a heavy AWD car is going to be easier for the average driver, but when people are going for bragging rights about a race inspired (C6R) car, they car about performance.

Because that's not drag racing. You're talking about "fastest" and the video is talking about "quickest". This HKS car has dynoed at 1450whp. By the way, the London run was done with an RB26 in that Supra. That's why most videos of the event have the EXVITERMINI stamp on them. You can go to the Top Secret site and click on the CARS tab for more proof.
The golden JZA80 that did 197 on the (I think) A1, was powered by an RB26 that had dynoed at 1001 hp. Are you referring to that clip? The one that had him arrested? Find the clip again and see if there is an EXVITERMINI stamp on it. EXVITERMINI didn't host the part of the clip where the Supra is pulled over but they did host the speed run and the magazine write up for it.

Why do you stray from the subject? That was informative. The guy that I was replying to obviously did not know anything about how Japan builds their cars, and I replied that they are built to attack corners as opposed to American Muscle (except the Corvette), which focuses on quarter mile times. The ZR1 actually has the same time as the 2010 R35 GT-R in the Nurbugring. Considering the HP difference, it is wise to think that the GT-R is well over superior.

i`ve seen comparisons on you tube where the zr1 out handles the gtr through a tight slalom circuit where speeds dont exceed 75mph . also creates more g`s roung corners. 1.1 i believe . this is where the gtr should convincingly win .... and doesn`t !

That's only in the slalom area. The weight of the ZR1 combined with it's power makes up for a pretty good car. GM yet again succeeds. And that is the reason why it has the same time as the GT-R, which wasn't even intended to match higher leagues the likes of the ZR1. It was meant to battle the Carrera GT, which is in the same HP league, 500HP.

Because the GT-R got the same exact time as the ZR1, considering that advantage in HP, the GT-R was equally superior on the track. All I'm saying is that the ZR1 should be competing with competition with the same HP league. The GT-R competes with the Porsche at 500HP or less.

First of all the GT-R comes with all those features as a whole. In other words, every added traction control and computer "bullshit" is essential for the car to run as it does. The car wasn't built without those features so obviously in order to for the car to work at it's max performance it has to have those features. It would be illogical to take off the most essential features the car needs.

I know what you're trying to say. The ZR1 is built the way it is. It performs it's maximum without any computer peripherals, as opposed to the GT-R, which relies on computer peripherals. Two different types of cars. Regardless of how they're made or what they need in order to run at their peak, both cars are magic and I love both the ZR1 and the GT-R.

Although I do give Chevy much credit for the ZR1, everything I've read about it's handling was not so good, I'm not talking about numbers here as the numbers are world class yet they only tell part of the story. From what I've read (many articles) only a professional/experienced driver can get maximum performance from the ZR1 as the car is quite a handful. The GTR on the other hand is much easier to drive as even a novice can fully exploit its capabilities.

it's weird how peple would say that the handling on the ZR1 isn't good, when in fact, it outclasses both the Porsche and the GT-R in the Nurbugring. Check the lap times yourself. If the handling on the car wasn't so good, then why does it have a lesser time than both the Porsche and the GT-R? Ask yourself.

I don't think you understand my point. To make it a bit easier for you, the GTR is an easier car to drive fast whereas the ZR1 is much more difficult. Any car can make good numbers but there is more to performance than numbers. I'm fairly sure a driver with a medium level of track experience would turn much better lap times in the GTR vs the ZR1 because of the high level of skill required to extract maximum performance from the ZR1.

Is this really the fastest? Smokey Nakata had a V12 powered beast of a Supra pushing out 1200whp before he upgraded it again. I believe it was all motor and i bet it has more torque than this car. It'd be a nice drag race. Maybe on a 1.5 or 2mile drag airstrip :)

Because that's not drag racing. You're talking about "fastest" and the video is talking about "quickest". This HKS car has dynoed at 1450whp. By the way, the London run was done with an RB26 in that Supra. That's why most videos of the event have the EXVITERMINI stamp on them. The golden JZA80 that did 197 on the (I think) A1, was powered by an RB26 that had dynoed at 1001 hp. Are you referring to that clip? The one that had him arrested? Find the clip again and see if there is an EXVITERMINI stamp on it. EXVITERMINI didn't host the part of the clip where the Supra is pulled over but they did host the speed run and the magazine write up for it.

yes its the same, i know that top alcohol funny cars have a pneumatically shifting lenco tranmission and there are two buttons on the steering wheel, one for second and one for third gear, it also has a clutch but the clutch is only used when it stops
