The commentators have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. They say Montoya uses 1st gear in 2 turns... When's the last time 1st gear was used on this track ?! They've got a gear ratio of about 5.5, they're not gonna use 1st gear, that's for sure. What a bunch if incompetents. They also complain about sound delay, but there isn't any. Idiots.
actually look at the shifter ... first in the hairpin and 1st in the turns after the short chute ... the rest of the track is in 2nd mostly, rarely 3rd after the eses in the last turn before the haripin
It is very bad for the sport which supposedly has so much 'parity'. I call bullshit. The rumor is that KB and his Toyota engine have a good 30BHP more than anyone else.. Whatever the issus I know KB is not better than guys like Gordo and Johnson. Those guys made him look bad when they were all on the same team. I hate all of them personally and any one team winning so much is a HUGE bore.
Tottally agreed. Toyota's are really leading at the moment. So KB has a good car. Guys like Jimmie or Jeff are better drivers then Kyle. And yeah it's ruining Nascar at the moment. I wish guys like Martin Truex Jr. win more. Kyle Busch just wins too much....
Agreed.. Having only a handful of guys winning (usually from only a few teams Hendrick, Roush, Gibbs) it makes it a snooze. Kyle Bush is just having a lucky year. Put him in Ganassi's car and see what happens.. jack squat
NASCAR should allow shifting on every track i love that sound! oh and add Road America into their schedule

No, never in 1st. But it depends on the ratio: they either use 2-3-4, or 1-2-3. The point is :they use a span of three gears, not four.

yeah but they use 4 speeds- 1 st goes up to 80 or 90 mph generally, meaning half of the turns will use 1st.
