thanks for another great exercise im going to try this. i love triceps they are my favourite muscle to work, i have also seen alot of progress in them since i started, it does my head in when people exagerate biceps, triceps are bigger muscles they make your arms look cool. :)
I think you should show it from the side next time too. I'll try this the upcoming monday, seems good. And also, if you do a wide bench press grip then you also work out your triceps a lot too, right?
Its all about rep range and muscle confusion. Anything below 10 reps is considered a slow twitch 'mass building' exercise. 10+ Reps hits more fast twitch fibers and is better for sculpting or endurance. Intensity matters. 10 easy reps arent going to build mass. No matter how you lift your last 3 reps should be somewhat difficult. Weight always should get higher when the last three reps of a common exercise become easy.
Eat for size as well, muscles need lots of fuel to repair.

I do this with dumbbells and it works perfect. Just keep your arms at almost 90 degrees from your chest and move your forearm. The lowering phase of this exercise is a killer:D. It isometrically trains your back a bit too but you are going to be using very little weigh. Anyway great video Scooby.

@Wattabattabingbang Nah, you also work your triceps when you bench press, just like you also use your biceps when doing back workouts like pull ups. With benching your target is your chest, but your triceps also do alot of work. Thats why people often do chest and triceps on the same day, so the triceps get like a total week of rest before working them again.
Hey Folks, I made a big mistake in the title of this video so I've changed it. This exercise is not a CGBP, its my version of a CGBP which is substantially different. Naming it that caused a lot of confusion and concern. This is a GREAT exercise but its nothing you will find in any book so I've called it the "Scooby Press". This exercise is done with far less weight than a CGBP
@scooby1961 yeah u neglected to cover it. Its no big deal it just looks very similar to skull crushers i would say the only difference is u bring the bar to your throat instead of your skull or behind your skull.

@nightrida07 you need to learn to be patient and give your muscles the time to recover... even when you feel like you can do more, take a day or so off. work out around 2-3 times per week weights and do some cardio in between.... go slow!
i've been watching a lot of your videos lately and am trying to build muscle, however sometimes when i use freeweights or some machines at the local gym i feel that i don't have enough strength in my wrist to maintain proper form, and sometimes the are really sore afterwards. do you have any suggestions or tips?
1) Not a CGBP - the movement he does appears to be a triceps extensions (skullcrushers) with elbows moving slightly downwards in the process (almost a California Press, but not quite). Maybe the shooting angle has fooled me, but the fact that he says to lower the weight to the neck supports my view.
2) Dangerous - every recommendation of CGBP form says thumbs should be at least 6-8 inches apart for ensuring that the forearm is in line with the hand.
what do you think of "Human Trainer the home workout system", the "TRX" or any Suspension Training String? do you think that I could get big as u guys if I use this methods? I mean of course, not using only this, but combining it width the "Iron gym" a nice pair of dumbels, a couple or bars and a bench, I could build a mini house gym right?
I always follow your advice Scooby, but this looks extremely dangerous. If anything slips or you cant find yourself able to push it back up you pose serious risk to damaging your trachea. Are you sure you shouldn't have a spotter? Even with low weights.
@aznpwnerp try the exercise with light weight first u will see if u need to set the bar down just drop your elbows down, and just be careful you dont let go of the bar ;) go ahead and go heavy but with good form

I searched Google and found hanging upside down naturally straightens the spine ( With a natural S shape of course). At first i felt blood rushing to my head, but now it just feels normal, and i was wonderin how u thought of this?

@pickledpacman Smith machine is the least productive. You should never do the smith cuz u won't see any growth AT ALL, well maybe some, but barely noticable.
if i got this right you need 1 gram of protein for 1 pound of body weight so if i was 150 pounds i wood need 150 grams of protein i have i got that right

@mirrorseye Scooby usually says to pick a weight that you can perform 8-16 reps with, but with body weight exercises you go till you totally give out!
@mirrorseye Failure sets are good, but they consume alot of energy. Sometimes u might wanna do all failure sets to change ur workout, but usually I only do like 4-5 failure sets for each of my workout, 1 for each exercise(last set of the exercise). Also, for the close grip bench press, ur supposed to do w/ a straight bar, not a ez curl bar.

Hi scooby, im 15 , 160lb, 6'4. Tall and play ball. I'm sort of slim but Ive been doing 100 push ups and 40 tricep dips per day, along with other excersizes, and im not getting the results i feel i need, im eating normal so i was wondering whether i should start using some sort of weights, please respond. big fan.
@9khabbo9k 100 push ups per day!? So when is the muscle repairing? It's not... Depending on your level of fitness and strength you only want this 1- 3 times a week. Once a week if you are more experienced. Pushups alone are OK, as long as you do varients of them, narrow grip, wide grip, feet raised etc. Weights are good also.
@9khabbo9k once you could do 15 - 20 good formed push ups in 1 set, and 5 - 10 good formed pullups in 1 set, then you should start hitting some weights if you would like, and just cause your doing a high number of reps does not mean your tearing enough muscle, you have to workout with more intensity if you really want results,
@nightrida07 Well the general rule is to give each muscle group about a weeks rest. So you can work out mostly every day as long as you break everything up...you know, like biceps/forearms one day and legs another day kind of thing.
very useful video, also for people wanting to commit suicide in style! Just load a shitload of weight on the bar, start lifting it until... u cant.......... no more......... and then drop it and you'll die with huge arms from the pump in style!

Scooby you may of changed the name but its still dangerous.
You need to change the posistion of your forearm and hand.
Try lifting your bodyweight x 1.25 with this grip you will suffer from permanent wrist damage in no time.

what do you think of "Human Trainer the home workout system", the "TRX" or any Suspension Training String? do you think that I could get big as u guys if I use this methods? I mean of course, not using only this, but combining it width the "Iron gym" a nice pair of dumbels, a couple or bars and a bench, I could build a mini house gym right?

I always follow your advice Scooby, but this looks extremely dangerous. If anything slips or you cant find yourself able to push it back up you pose serious risk to damaging your trachea. Are you sure you shouldn't have a spotter? Even with low weights.

Hey scooby, your videos help me out alot, but i was wondering if hanging upside down can help fix my bad neck posture? I used to have rounded shoulders, but i fixed it doing Pull Ups, Push Ups and other upper back workouts. Now i just have to fix my bad neck posture.
I searched Google and found hanging upside down naturally straightens the spine ( With a natural S shape of course). At first i felt blood rushing to my head, but now it just feels normal, and i was wonderin how u thought of this?

A response would be cool. Right now I need to work on my endurance before I go to basic for the military, but I'm unable to because of the snow and weather in the state of Ohio. I don't have access to a gym or recreation center either, just because there are none nearby. Is there any exercise that would help my endurance until spring-time?

Important question::: i was wondering if when you do your exorcises,,, do you go untill you absolutely cant life the weight anymore?? complete muscle failure?
or is that bad ??,, although i go every time untill i absolutly cant move., i notice im the only one in the gym who really does that,, i notice even the most advanced budy builders i see,seem stop before muscle failure,,,,, anyways great vid. imma try to do that with a perfectly straight bar, i dont have a curved bar like that yet

@mirrorseye Scooby usually says to pick a weight that you can perform 8-16 reps with, but with body weight exercises you go till you totally give out!

@mirrorseye Failure sets are good, but they consume alot of energy. Sometimes u might wanna do all failure sets to change ur workout, but usually I only do like 4-5 failure sets for each of my workout, 1 for each exercise(last set of the exercise). Also, for the close grip bench press, ur supposed to do w/ a straight bar, not a ez curl bar.

i dont think i ever commented on your videos but thanks to you i been working out just about everyday for three months now. over all im much stronger, my chest, arms, legs are developing real nice but my stomach still looks like a beer belly. i do run or use a exercise bike like three times a week and do between four to six miles. im only 5'8" and still weight 184 pounds. can you tell me about how much time it takes to develop a nice abdomen? well this exercise was good, thanks for the videos.

Hi scooby, im 15 , 160lb, 6'4. Tall and play ball. I'm sort of slim but Ive been doing 100 push ups and 40 tricep dips per day, along with other excersizes, and im not getting the results i feel i need, im eating normal so i was wondering whether i should start using some sort of weights, please respond. big fan.

@9khabbo9k 100 push ups per day!? So when is the muscle repairing? It's not... Depending on your level of fitness and strength you only want this 1- 3 times a week. Once a week if you are more experienced. Pushups alone are OK, as long as you do varients of them, narrow grip, wide grip, feet raised etc. Weights are good also.

@9khabbo9k once you could do 15 - 20 good formed push ups in 1 set, and 5 - 10 good formed pullups in 1 set, then you should start hitting some weights if you would like, and just cause your doing a high number of reps does not mean your tearing enough muscle, you have to workout with more intensity if you really want results,

@nightrida07 Well the general rule is to give each muscle group about a weeks rest. So you can work out mostly every day as long as you break everything up...you know, like biceps/forearms one day and legs another day kind of thing.
