This is One Bad Jam!! I have this Album, been listening to it for years! Glad that others are able to listen and appericate it! This is the way we did it, back in the day! Do you Feel da Funk up in this? Timeless indeed!
This takes me back to my teen years in Baltimore, better times for sure, The newness of this sound, The straight ahead direction which reflected where we were headed in our community and our society as a whole. I'm proud to have lived to be a part of the movement. Gregg
Back in the day.... checking in from DC!!!! I remember, oh yea, when i was living in Boston this album was kicking it. Love her Smooth Jazz she brought to us all....
this really good music. im gonna go buy the album. byt the way if anyone reads this who likes good music with thought behind the words and depth to the tale click on my name and check out wat i am offering to the world
CHI-TOWN..... We Love You Bobbi. My son recently asked me about you. He loves your music, How are you? This is my JAM!! I played my flute along with you back then. Inspiring. ALL was Heaven on Earth! Thanks for the Blessed Memories / post
Because of a misprint on her greatest hits CD from Capitol/Blue Note, I thought this track was called 'Chicago Dawn'. Then when I saw the 45 I though the 'Damn' was a misprint! LOL! Eventually I figured it out that the Damn was the name and Dawn was the misprint.
YOU JUST DON'T KNOW HAPPY I AM TO HEAR THIS SONG!!! Right now I am smiling like crazy. Back in the day my dad would listen to Bobbi Humphrey, and that's how i got hooked. The album got away from the house years ago, and now I feel like a part of me has been given back. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!!
Man I will never forget the feeling of my first night home from the war. I heard this and truly felt the Peace music give. Especially that flute. She is all that and a soul full of sound. YEAH!
When I first heard this song in the fall of 1973 I was hooked on Bobbi Humphrey. I bought every album she released from 1973 - 1978. She truely is the "First Lady" of the flute. The combination of the Fonce & Larry Mizell's writing & arranging & Bobbi's flute were magic. This song & whole album will always remind me of my early times in the Army as a fresh young baby soldier & my time in the 'Nam. Thanx for posting.

I was four and I hoped I was in earshot! I love the soul/funk/jazz from the late 60s, early 70's.
It's my opinion 1977 was the pinnacle of human civilization. ;)
