do any of you people know what you are talking about! a hippo is killed with a 375 hard nose! it does not taste like pig or cat fish! nobody in there mind will kill a hippo with a 180 grain 303 winchester1 its totally unnecessary and inapropriate!
i dont like it but i take confort in the fact you killed it in one shot but in any case was it fun i dont hunt but that looked boreing as fuck shooting a hipo in water
oh and your a good hunter hats off to you and also when was this vid looks mid 80s to mid 90s camra and thats a hard guess

From Kaprivi and Kavango in the Northern Namibia Rivers, nobody here eats Hippos, besides some few Zambia tribes. Southern Africa contains the largest numbers of hippopotamus on the continent - some 99 000 animals. These estimates were based on questionnaires and information for several countries was unavailable, including Angola which was effected by the war.

far to be ...... is horrible smelly meet - is the only hippo that i kill - fortunately local village loved - in one night they strip meet to the bone - that is one of the reason way number of hippo decline so quickly -
One shot and is dead. No kidding there prolably using a 180 grain 303 winchester Power point bullet or a similar round. It can also kill an Elephant.. By the way why not wait till it jumped on land then get it ? would it not save hours of hassle ? 3000 pounds of hassles.
375 hard nose - i bout the license for hippo only once - during the day they are always in water in the worm wether - they come out at night i did try ...... is not so easy ..... and a wanted to kill this in particular that was charging all the boat in site .....
You cannot suppres the 4 millions + years of hunting instinct on Human just because nowaday we got grocery store and such. Human had to survive in a very cruel animal world to be where we are its part of our heritage to kill animals for food and hobby. Yeah it suck but go venture for fun in the wild in africa and see if any wildlife will think twice killing you for fun or food. Were 2 legged animals
have you ever been in a fight or in dangerous situation?
When animal attacks or is attacked adrenaline goes so high, it doesn't feel any pain (that's why antilope that is heavily injured by a wild cat can still fight back and very ofter predators leave it to die from bleeding rather than try to attack it again)
so for animal to suffer there must be extended time period from injury to death. (therefore bad marksmanship for hunters is one of the worst traits)
the near village eat for long time - they did cline up the meat during the night - i know my comment was not very clear - was the only hippo kill by me - the meat is very smelly and the test is not the best that i try -
The local villagers are greatful for American hunters, their dollars help the economy, and the meat is taken by local villages, whats wrong with that? the fact that someone is willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars to do this is at best agueable, but it is for the greater good of the people, and wildlife
Yes, we are more brutal than other creatures. We kill for fun. That's mighty different. By the way, i'm not against hunting. I'm against hunting for fun. But when it's nessecary to kill animals because of their sheer number, i'm not against. But killing brown bear or let's say a tiger, i see that as a major crime. They're almost extinct.
brown bear are no where near extinct. Tigers shouldn't be hunted I agree but I hunt I use all of the meat it saves me alot of money and its better than some cow which has been engineered with all kinds of chemicals.
I kinda agree. But dont agree with the chemical thing. But ppl now are so disconected. Meat work especially in america are not human. yes the animal dies fast but before that well do some research. these ppl hunt just like we have for 1000's of years. it part of being human/man. btw this isnt all directed at you lol. hunting killing eating is natural
Not true, most predatory animals would kill for the fun of it when the opportunity for it arose. Type "surplus klling" in google. There are many reports of hyenas and wolves killling dozens of gazelle fawns and elk calves when they caught a herd giving birth in the open. A pack of dingo would wipe out a whole herd of defenseless sheep and ate only the choicest part of each carcass. Nature is cruel, and it partly shaped us humans to the way we are today.
Rally challeging you dopes. How much did you pay to kill this animal whom became intrusted to seeing you and the boat. You put more effort into pulling the hippo on shore. I am a hunter. This is not hunting. Nut!
so these guys do not listen to the video sound ? that's really stupid - one entire village work in the night to clean to the bone and take all to smoke dry - i hunted all my life but i never kill if was not to be used - hunters are protector in a sense - have a go to poachers and nature destroyer i will help in the quest ....
toglimi una curiosità, come la conservano la carne al villaggio per durare. hai fatto un bel servizio ai locali, gli "animalisti" con le fette di salame sugli occhi non hanno colto l'utilità di questo tipo di caccia mirata...
k shut up your so ignorant to the fact where u make poor judgments on people's lifestyle this isn't poaching their hunting for meat so they "live" its their way of life so in fact your being a dick head by telling them to commit suicide -.- and plus these hippos are from extinction and they eat a shit load of resources
Hippo's kill more people than any other animal in Africa. There are too many. Check out the African Addio Hunts! Those are fun to watch and everything gets eaten!
Off to Safari tomorrow ---Zimbabwe and another Elephant and Cape Buffalo Hunt. Cheers!

No! The local villagers worked all night to recover all the usable meat. It says that on the narration, but no footage is available because it was night-time.
This was the first and last time I hunted Hippo (in around 1971) for the following reasons:
1) It takes a lot of work to recover the meat.
2) The meat is not exactly a delicacy (although useful)
3)It is in no way considered good "sport" in a hunting sense.
The only counter is it feeds a whole village for weeks.

I just watched a video by Ras Safaris on bowhunting hippos it was a terrible video. The animal suffered greatly and nearly killed them all.
This video is how to do it correctly. One shot, quick and painless death. Plus it helps the nearby village.
The film looks very old though, or maybe a old camera was used.

Yeah bullshit. Adrenaline only deadens pain slightly. Or else you wouldn't need shots at the dentist, dummy.
