  • i'm a 41 year old mexican,, i remember the mad dog,, my favorite wrestler of all times, thank you for the clip, brought back memories,, there has never been a wrestler like him,, r,i,p,,,,,the mad dog

  • @honoriochristina6970 Gotta love those furry boots! LOL! Sawyer was great! His fueds with Tommy Rich, Paul Ellering, were some of the greats!! I miss 'Mad Dog'!

  • the problem with the Sawyer's was not only with the bookers but with the fact of the back stage stuff. Rising stars like the Road Warriors had the charisma and the following whereas the Sawyers were decent regional players but on the national stage, not really. They were a throwback and given the political nature of wrestling and the fact that Brett and Buzz were not well liked and headaches for other players, it is understandable that bookers were wary of using them.

  • Brett Sawyer was a good aerial wrestler! Its too bad the Crocketts didn't give these brothers a push!

  • @XOtericate i agree 100%. i just knew jcp was gonna make a sawyers/andersons feud 2 culminate at SC 85 the gathering. if not then continue the slater/sawyer v andersons fight from the GAB 85. but by late 85 all 3 guys were gone. i dont know what happened but the sawyers & slater were WAY over in the georgia/mid atlantic area and were well known by the fans. and i know they woulda done very well v the horsemen as flair and slater have a well known history. maybe it was some dusty booking...???

  • @scimitar08 Thats a good theory! You hear stories about bookers having inflated egoes and making sure that they get over while certain talent feels neglected and looks for greener pastures in other promotions,

  • @XOtericate a lot of wrestlers have listed dusty as their reason 4 leaving jcp, like rick steamboat, billy jack haynes, etc. anybody who knows wrestling knows that sawyer & slater r money,PERIOD. and they proved it when they went 2 uwf. their track record in georgia/MA speaks 4 itself. and both guys r solid face OR heel! i would love 2 c a dick slater shoot if one exists. would have loved 2 seen a sawyer shoot as well.

  • @scimitar08 I'd love to see those shoot interviews too! I remember when Billy Jack Haynes shoot interview was up on You Tube. To say he had nothing positive to say about Dusty Rhodes would be an understatement.

  • @XOtericate i could def c virgil runnels abusing his power and sending these guys packing 2 bill watts. dont understand how brett bcame a jobber in uwf tho. he did very well in georgia. buzz did come back 2 uwf 4 about a week in 87. he was a face w/ dark journey. but at that time uwf was being sold 2 jcp and buzz wasnt part of it. maybe he didnt want 2 work under runnels or runnels didnt want him there. who knows.

  • U can tell where Rick Steiner got his in-ring style from when u watch buzz Sawyer. Steiner came up under Sawyer in uwf. Amazing how in Georgia Brett Wayne was a main eventer then in uwf he was a jobber

  • A lot of wrestlers copied Buzz sawyer's styke. The Bush wackers did and a bunch try to pull off the foaming at the mouth crazy routine but he had it down to a science. If he would have been an actor he would have won academy awards and shit! I think much of his craziness was fueled by his massive cocaine habit, which unfortunately did him in.According to one Dr. it's probable someone gave him a hot shot (Loaded something besides coke) in the syringe which immediately stopped his heart!

  • @scumgod13 well from what i know, the bushwackers(the kiwi sheepherders)started in 1964,so they were around a WHOLE lot longer than sawyer who debuted in 79. but ur right there r many in the business who came after sawyer who copied sawyer. the way he executed moves was reckless but controlled. he had 1 of the best powerslams in the sport.

  • @saracen3000 I had know idea those nuts the Bushwackers had been seen the sixties, I saw them early 90's I believe. They did a lil punk rock skank dance in a circle a lot like what Buzz does with his boots here. Ya know, for a career cut short, I would say Buzz influenced a lot of people. later when he went totally nuts (Some act but I really think coke was playing a role in his life) he started acting like the Joker from Batman and saying Get a load of me.

  • @scumgod13 if u like buzz then u woulda loved not the bushwackers, but their original namesake and concept the kiwi sheepherders. they were bloodthirsty and ruthless. just about every match they had was bloody. many ppl were disgusted 2 c them as the bushwackers bcuz they knew these guys 2 b much better wrestlers than the bushwacker gimmick. i 4 one HATED it. u can c them in action as the sheepherders on youtube 4 urself and u b the judge. i believe u will enjoy the herders

  • @saracen3000 Yea I watched that and remember them now. I really didn't remember the Bushwackers as being them, just that they ran in a circle like fools. What was that 90s? I always saw WCW and Georgia Championship wrestling as a kid and it was back in they day that at least kids still argued about whether it was real or scripted-Predetermined winners/losers.I mean no disrespect because it real,I couldn't do it.But you know, there was that real/fake thing that went on forever.

  • @scumgod13 sawyer was legit crazy it wasn't just a gimmick!

  • And I thought the Steiners only did that! Buzz was a great performer.

  • @lakecumberland actually i think that rick stiener did that 2 honor his former mentor(sawyer)
