there's places closing up in london as i look around too... it's much quieter in cafes, shops & bars & restaurants... it used to be full of tourists n shoppers on the pavements and the cafes used to be full of ppl, now it's very quiet walking around, which shows business is very bad, not what the media says about "improvements" to try n buy time n keep ppl mislead & stop protests & civil unrest.... one only has to look around. Its incredibly sad what's gone on out there. My husband lived there and was forced to move to Texas right when things started to go downhill and thankfully missed the larger part of the crash.

This could be a really good series that really showcases all the hardships the area has gone through, but all that is overshadowed by how judgmental both of the people in the video are being. Classism is not OK and doesn't solve anything.

@Begbucks We lucked up we were renting and came across this place for 32K its a trailer land deal. Trailler was damaged in Katrina/Rita cost 10K just to replace the roof and siding. We moved in 2002 and now we own it all. We are old school believe if you owe you pay as quickly as possible carry as little debt as possible. My intent is to build a dome home of concrete so disasters will be a thing of the past at our address. A 10K home would have to be built of earth filled bags labor intensive.

@cdltpx 10k homes are no dream, & very possible in less effluent areas like Mi, OH, the plains & so fourth eBay has a regular few (but save one for me) granted they are preowned NOT New, but being a traditionalist myself I wouldn't enjoy the OSB shitboxes nearly much as beholding a Art Deco Classic From an engineering standpoint however, In Europe many houses are constructed out off bricks with stucco, which resists wind & fire as well as enhancing aesthetics.

We are stuck in this area our economy here is not as bad as other places we have jobs here. My uncle went to Oh to live in a 10k house had to leave there was no work for him. I also look at what it cost to operate a home you can low ball but if it cost 5K year to heat/cool no deal. Place here not perfect but beats a box.

@cdltpx A trailer is not designed to last past 30 years ours is an 82 so we are on borrowed time they design them to fail so they can sell you another.. Reason I wanta dome is it will be something I can hand to my kid she to hers. Tornado hurricane wildfire lightening strike termite it will be here will not rot minimal maintence with low operating cost. Where we are located we have plenty of water the land can provide food if we have to live off of it. We will do ok here.

If we do a cost analysis of all the materials in any house it will probably come to a few thousands. How can the same house sell for hundreds of thousands? This is a huge fraud. House flippers are the main cause for the ridiculously high prices and the crash, with the help of irresponsible lendings from the greedy banks. This was so easy to foresee. There was even a show called " Flip the house " on H&G channel that showed people how to flip houses, in addtion to those late night no down payment house investing (flipping) infomercials. The crash was unavoidable, but the fall of the banks destroyed our economy.
