  • Thanks for your comment. FMA is my favorite. Have you heard people talking about which is better and more practical between FMA and krav maga? My choice is FMA but there's a strong krav maga following out there that says otherwise.

    Talk to you soon.

  • I love your video! Keep up the good work! Filipino martial arts is possibly the most practical and most functional fighting system in the world. No matter where you go you will always find objects that can be used like sticks, blades, and other FMA weapons. Canes, pipes, wood, crowbars, tire irons, assorted tools, even kitchen items can turned into weapons with FMA training. Awesome video!

  • Good skill but ... how will you use it for street defence as carrying sticks like that is impractical (and illegal in most countries)... enjoyable watch though .The music was APT as drums are normally played by hand ... or sticks.

  • When I teach self fense classes for women, I tell them, while walking along the street, path or out in the yard, you can usually find a stick or some object like a stick and its really about the motiion. the motion can be stick, knife, bottle, empty and or anything you have at you can get your hands on. If you are in the house, a broom stick or mop handle, kitchen knives, etc. can be used with the same motion. Thanks for your comment.

  • How can you say that carrying a stick is illegal? Is carrying a broom, a women's hair brush, an umbrella or a cane illegal?

  • Ask the Police about the sticks or canes (I have police officer training in my class)

    1) a broom is impractical to carry around

    2) a hair brush too tiny

    3) an umbrella too cumbersome and looks pretty odd when it`s hot outside ???

  • The laws concerningweapons will be different in each place, of course. In my country there is no law against them so I carry a knife.

You are right about some of them being impratical but remember that this kind of improvised weapon is laying around insuspiciously. IE: if you are in a bar, the meal knife cuts humans just as well as cows. The hair brush is not that tiny if you know how to use it against someone unarmed.

The filipino thinking is that any weapon is better than having no weapons.

  • It is pratical for defense, the invention of gunpowder made fighting with sticks and swords obsolete. That is not to say A person trained in the arts is not someone you would want on your side. Learning A weapon does increase the effectiveness of your empty hand combat. It also gets you off the couch and away from your detainment I mean entertainment device.

    Great skill by the way!

  • If fighting with sticks and swors were obsolete, the armed forces wouldn't still train and possess knives. Like I said before, being skilled fighting with impact and blade weapons means you can arm yourself with anything at hand, including kitchen knives or beer bottles.

  • some vids show that there is a modern style that teaches how to disarm a firearm from someone

  • Man, I've totally got shield envy now. Mine is only a foot tall. GREAT VIDEO!

  • how come on the shield the red side of the flag is in left. i means war right? if blue, it means peace.

  • I want a stick right now.

  • I want one of those BIG weapons sheilds you have in the back ground. Very nice

  • Very nice thanks, especially the clips of the San Miguel Masters. Very nice

  • Good stuff, loved the music.

  • why you cant come up with some good idea how to make it easier to play with, like rubber sticks so you dunt have to pretend that you are afraid to hit your sparring partner or PVC pipes with thinlayer.

  • hey guys...please watch the videos of ORO BALINTAWAK..real stick fighting no Choreograph..im sure you will lov it...

  • i didnt know that arnis can be combined with capoera! nice!! mabuhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

  • Actually, there's a Capoiera group in MI that does stuff with sticks, not completely FMA but similar. I wish I could remember their name. I saw them at a Renaissance Festival of all places last year!

  • Maculele

  • that filipino weapons plaque is huge!

  • thats so cool... i trying to learn to use sticks now...

  • I can dig it! Keep it going!
