  • can i use acrylic paint on the whole thing because my dad wont let me use spray paint?

  • @TheMegathehedgehog

It's a lot harder to do, but it's possible.

However, there are a few problems with this.

First of all, the paint is not very durable, so it will scrape off very easily. That's why I try to use it only on small, out-of-the-way pieces.

But also, doing it by hand will leave noticable brush marks, which won't look very good.

So to answer your question, yes it's possible, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have no choice.

    Hope that helps.

    And thanks for watching!

  • Do you find Krylon spray paints pretty decent for gundam model kits overall? And have you tried the Krylon fusion paints? Looking to try em out since they dont seem to be too expensive, but not 100% sure yet. And do you coat it after painting?

  • @Magiustor

Krylon's definitely good enough for me in most cases.

I've tried Krylon Fusion paints, and they're OK. The one can I got, though, doesn't spray properly, so I didn't get to use very much. It's only real "benefit" is that you supposedly don't need primer. Still I recommend adding primer to any part you're going to paint for the best results.

Top coating is always a good idea. Just be careful with how much you add; it's easy to go overboard.

    Thanks for watching!

  • @crapmunky99

Do you use the Krylon top coats or different ones? Trying to decide since they have em on sale this week lol!

  • @Magiustor

Never used any topcoats other than Krylon, but Krylon isn't the best.

It can be a little unpredictable, and tricky to use. I don't know for sure that other brands are any better, but Testors and Tamiya always make great paints, and I'd be willing to bet their top coat would be much better than Krylon's.

Still, Krylon is cheaper and you get a lot more, so it couldn't hurt to try it out for yourself and see how you like it.

  • ahhh i really hope you can get partnership someday 8D that thought just came to my head. lol. im thinking about picking this guy up. and you should get the HG

UC Nu gundam to go with it! good job man.

  • @00gundamreviews

Actually, I have a partnership offer on the table, but I'm undecided as to if I should go through with it.

If I do, I'll get to make longer videos, and I'll get paid for some of them, which would be nice.

However, I'll also lose any ability to add music or other media in my videos, which I often like to use.

So for now, I'm putting it off. But maybe I'll consider it someday.

Also, I actually do have the HGUC Nu Gundam already; it's great!

    Thanks for watching!

  • wat is d difference between primer & white base spray paint??

  • @celesthine

Primer is intended to help paint stick better and apply more smoothly to a surface.

Plus, primer comes in different shades and colors other than white.

If you watch the first of my Sazabi tutorial videos, I explain this in more detail.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks for the tip with the spray paint to brush!!

  • @GundamGuns

No problem! I picked up that tip from Danny Choo's website a few years ago, and I just remembered it as I was working on this project. It actually works pretty well, though you may need multiple thin coats to get the best results.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Alcoholic!)

Nice review , finally i know why i need primer.) Thanx.)

  • @77refined

    Who're U callin' an alcholllick, pal!? @_@

Oh great, now I'm arrested for typing under the influence... xD

Glad the tutorial was helpful. Thanks for watching!

  • Nice detail painting.

For extracting paint from the can I allways use a straw so that you can have the can more horizontally and to avoid haviing a paint cloud.

    Cheerio!

  • @lhasarus

A straw... Never would have thought of that.

The nozzles on these newer Krylon cans are pretty wierd though, so I don't know if I'd be able to make that work...

At any rate, I'll consider trying that; thanks for the tip. :)

And of course, thanks for watching!

(Now all I need are more spare bottles...)

  • did you use top coat?

  • @pattyboy1001

    On top of the primer?

    No.

First I prime the parts, then I add paint, and THEN the top coat.

I add the top coat as a protective layer for the paint; the primer doesn't need it.

    Thanks for watching!

  • @crapmunky99 no, I mean on the completed pieces.

  • @pattyboy1001

Well then, it's just as I explained it in my first tutorial, and in my last comment:

First I prime the parts, then I add paint, and lastly I add the top coat.

  • @crapmunky99 what brand is it?

  • @pattyboy1001

    Krylon.

  • @crapmunky99 which one? flat glossy or satin?

  • @pattyboy1001

I prefer glossy, in order to help make my own method of panel lining a little easier . But the other kinds should also work alright.

And again, the brand is Krylon for the primer, paint, and top-coat.

    Hope that answers your questions.

  • So far, this is looking like the work you would see on the the sides of the box.

    Nice job!

  • @WeissritterOG

    Thanks! That's what I strive for... :)

    Thanks for watching!
