wow it's so weird, all the americans are like AAH i wanna go to austria and Sound of Music is such a great movie and everything and here in austria nobody actually knows the movie or the story at all. seriously i'm the only one of my friends who knows it! and i only know it because i have lots of relatives in america and they were surprised we didn't know it.
oh my goodness, I would love to visit Salzburg, Austria! The sound of music is my alltime favorite movie. Anyone want to pay for my ticket?? I'll bake you cookies! jaja jk. :]
@blondbambi12 Lucky! I've always wanted to go there! I went to Poland and other coutries around there. So close but yet so far. what city do you live in?
Yes the scenery there is truly amazing on a warm summers day when the shine is sunning all over the hills but has anybody noiced when ever a film comes up about the war or around that period they always get English actors to play them it can be quite funny somtimes and cool.
My friend and I love Sound of Music so much, particularly the Austrian maid Frau Schmidt, that we made a parody of the musical told from Frau's perspective. It's a comedy that we both wrote. If you're interested in seeing it yourself, youtube "Sound of Frau" and click on the version with the best quality! :D
Great job! I am going to Salzburg next summer and will do The Sound of Music tour. Hopefully my mind will work just like this video while I am on it so I can picture the scenes while I am there. :-)
Only feeble minded fools who have not studied history willing celebrate this wildly wicked weird witchcraft holiday from the weathered old Roman religion of rapists. It's the beautiful side of evil? Well, evil, is still evil, no matter how it is served to you. God shall a put curse on all who celebrate this holiday of Hell. You and your children' s children shall suffer plague and disease. The Holy Bible explains this fact.
The move was re-released from October 2010. I heard about this movie. This could be an a kid movie, but.. Guess this movie is a world-wide popular franchise. What was this production by 20th Centruy Fox?? I could guess they flim to the US, and Europe only I guess.
Europe is the only place I know where buildings, parks, and landmarks are not destroyed by developers to put a strip shopping center, a parking lot, or a condo. You can go today, for example, to the center of Madrid, and see the same buildings that were there during the 30's. In the U.S. we save as priceless historical landmarks buildings from the 1800's. In Europe, buildings of the same age are mere apartment houses were people live.
7466309change....Oh I don't want to ever be 16 or 17.....give me 24...live got a lot better I never want to back to High School......but I understand. I love this movie....Julie is the best.
We did the musical in High School......don't ever want to do that again. LOL I was the rehearsal piano player.....I had to learn all of these songs in like a week...nothing like fakeing your way through a musical....but OMG.....it was harder than hell to read all that music.
7466309change....Oh I don't want to ever be 16 or 17.....give me 24...live got a lot better I never want to back to High School......but I understand. I love this movie....Julie is the best.

A week ago I did the Sound of Music Bus Tour with my best friend and twins in Salzburg, Austria. On our bus tour we had a whole group of people singing from every country possible. The tour was emotionally moving with the true story about the Von Trapp family. It is incredible having the expression of God smiling in those picture perfect mountains......Descendants of the Von Trapps live in Stowe, VT now. It is so encouraging for the rest of us to see those who stood up to those crazy Nazis.
Sound of Music is a loved Japanese movie. It loves the family by getting over wonderful nature and the hardship, and all like the highest singing voice etc. are yearnings. It was printed in the newspaper of Japan of today. Local opposed it though the residence where it had lived became a hotel. Recently, when it is reviewed, and it was restarted ..in the recession... This musical seems to be evaluated and not to exist in local. It is regrettable.
AGEST!!! I am not ready for the bottom drawer yet! So I'm 60, so what? In August I will be 61 I will have survived a major stroke for 6 years by then.
gracias por este tour virtual....esa pelicual es inolvidabel para todos los que la vimos siendo niños.....con el paso del tiempo mis hijos aprendieron conmigo a amra estapelicula,,,,estoy esperando a que mi nieta pueda entederla......
Just back from a vacation at Salzburg. Gives me a nice feeling at having seen those places in person, which I have been seeing in 'The Sound Of Music' for many years. Am sure to go back there once more.
@timepassguy I agree with you I've been to Vienna and Salzburg and other places in Austria it was really a very beautiful City and I'd like to go back there one of this days since I have seen this movie' THE SOUND OF MUSIC ' so many time it is really worthy to watch this over and over I would highly recommend it to young and old.
J'ai adore ce film...ce fut ma premiere comedie musicale au cinema. Il sera toujours dans mon coeur. Il m'aura donne le gout de la musique.et surtout de la belle musique
Thank you for this wonderful presentation. I 've never gotten to Austria, and your tour was very nice. Listening to these songs brings me back to when they showed this movie every holiday season.
I am staying in Salzburg three months for my law studies :) I already saw the pavillon, it's so beautiful and amazing to know that they made the movie in the exact same places. And it didn't change too much, the city kept the charm of the 60's. You should really come and visit Salzburg, people, it's worth it!
Went skiing did you? Bit touristy round there aint it? My family live in Kärnten. It's beautiful down there. No tourists at all. You should head down thete if you go to Austria again
Tirol is the most beautiful place of the world. I love it and go to Tirol as much as possible. I always play this sound drinving on the road to Austria.
Wow... It never occurred to me that I could actually visit the locations in the movie... That would be great to do some day... Thanks for putting this together!
I have been to Salzburg and everywhere you go you see signs about Julie Andrews and the gang from the sound of music and how much they were enjoyed. How could Austrians possibly not know about the film if everywhere you go in the city you see this kind of evdience of it.
@weenee10 As I told inkfish999 before, this only counts for Salzburg itself, but not for Austria in whole. Ever been to another city in austria? I can guarantee you that there are no signs concerning Julie Andrews or TSOM at ALL! People in Salzburg know and love the movie because it plays a big part in their tourism. The rest of austria either hates the movie or doesn't know it at all. That's a fact - believe the native austrian ;)
@produser I've been all over Austria and have not seen the signs either. But it's like I live in a prison town and everywhere you go in my state you do not see signs about my town but that does not mean that everyone in the state does not know about my town and what it is.
@inkfish999 Only few Austrians know the movie, but most of them don't like it. if you are not into the story or live in Salzburg, it is very difficult to get to know this movie, because they never played it on austrian television, and when the movie came out, austrians were still very sensitive about WW2, so they only showed a censored version, ending with the scene where Maria gets married, which makes the movie cheesy and incomplete. I am one of the very few austrians who love it ;)
So nice to see this - Not only because I am a fan of this since I was a young girl visiting England and being introduced to this kind of music.
Even better - I lived in Salzburg for a while and spent my lunchtime in " Mirabellgarten" (park underneath the fortress) . I still have siblings from my mothers side livin there. :-)
Hey, Emily and Haley here. We love every genre and music and we love singing together. Singing for us is kind of like an escape. We love it, it is our life. Please check out our channel and videos, and comment and subscribe! Thanks!
I did that tour too!! a year ago we went to Salzburg as member of a Choir representing our country and my fellows an me did the tour (for free on our own)... was the most idiotic thing we did and it was so stupidly fun jaja
I have done the sound of music tour and although very good you can go and visit all the places for free anyway. Wish i'd have know that before i booked.
It was nice to visit the original locations. But we were guided by a xenophobic inhabitant, who always mocked Americans for loving this movie. The Austrians judge it as Kitsch. Well, maybe it is, but it is great entertainment too and I'd wish, they would be a little bit more accomodating.
i went to salzburg on a class trip... before i first watched sound of music! and we took photos in front of the statues and on the bench maria and the children sat on and i wondered why there is that strange thing at the abbey wall. and two months later i've seen the film and i was like... i couldn't close my mouth i was like ... OMG i've been there! :D:D:D and everyone who wants to visit salzburg should go to vienna, paris, munich, berchtesgaden and venice too! :) :)
I did not know he was from navy just guessed. He was an official from an armed force, because sthg that impressed my father is that he had 2 sisters that lived in the communist Germany and he managed to bring his sisters to visit Brazil only giving his word that he would take his sisters back, which he did.
My father was impressed how they trusted the word of an Austrian official so much
You can check this monastery/school in Formiga MG if you want to know more
Can anyone the me about the location of "climb every mountain" at the end? I think it's near Eagles Nest but that is germany.

@produser I've been all over Austria and have not seen the signs either. But it's like I live in a prison town and everywhere you go in my state you do not see signs about my town but that does not mean that everyone in the state does not know about my town and what it is.

@produser If Austrians hate this film, then they r still Naziz

Do Austrians actually know the film? I heard they didn't
inkfish999 2 years ago
@inkfish999 Only few Austrians know the movie, but most of them don't like it. if you are not into the story or live in Salzburg, it is very difficult to get to know this movie, because they never played it on austrian television, and when the movie came out, austrians were still very sensitive about WW2, so they only showed a censored version, ending with the scene where Maria gets married, which makes the movie cheesy and incomplete. I am one of the very few austrians who love it ;)

Very nice - but you should add the place-names. What's that bridge called, for instance ?

So nice to see this - Not only because I am a fan of this since I was a young girl visiting England and being introduced to this kind of music.
Even better - I lived in Salzburg for a while and spent my lunchtime in " Mirabellgarten" (park underneath the fortress) . I still have siblings from my mothers side livin there. :-)
Thanks so much for the upload !!!

I would be interested to hear your thoughts on your Sound of Music tour....

It was nice to visit the original locations. But we were guided by a xenophobic inhabitant, who always mocked Americans for loving this movie. The Austrians judge it as Kitsch. Well, maybe it is, but it is great entertainment too and I'd wish, they would be a little bit more accomodating.
KnusperhexeRosmer 2 years ago
Most Austrians like the movie, even if it is kitschig.

My father had a math teacher who had been an Austrian navy official that left the country because he did not agree with de Hitler invasion.
This guy was also grandson of Schubert, the composer
This movie always reminded my father of this teacher, that was so akin to the von Trapp of the movie
We are Brazilians and my father studied in a catholic school in Formiga in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil
We have photos of the teacher

Austria had no navy at that time....
after the second world war it became a country without access to the sea...
what about learning history???
lillymountain 2 years ago
I did not know he was from navy just guessed. He was an official from an armed force, because sthg that impressed my father is that he had 2 sisters that lived in the communist Germany and he managed to bring his sisters to visit Brazil only giving his word that he would take his sisters back, which he did.
My father was impressed how they trusted the word of an Austrian official so much
You can check this monastery/school in Formiga MG if you want to know more
