I know he's The Boss, but guys.. this is a really hard song to sing. Dave Edmunds can sing in some weird keys... he's a unique freak, so give Mr S some slack. He's still the Boss
Boy, he really does force his voice on those higher notes. Any bets on when his voice gives out? At the very least, he'll soon be lowering these songs a full tone so he can still sing them. (and he won't be the first one, either). And before somebody gets all huffy at me, this is just an observation, plain and simple. Keep your knickers on.
I was at this show. This was the 3rd of 3 nights at Lincoln Financial Field in Philly. Home of the Eagles. These concerts were played before the Eagles had their 1st home game there.
Great, rough vocal there. Can't remember where I first heard Springsteen himself do this song, but it was terrific to finally get access to an "official" release of it, even if it was on the "Essential" set.
I heard he wrote this for Dave Edmunds and ended up playing it himself because he liked Dave's version so much.... am i close to the truth?

i was thinking the same thing alan. . .of course if his voice starts to give he can always lower the key. might be a "step" in the right direction ;)

This is a song I'd live to see live! He did this the day AFTER we saw him in Philly. Thanks for posting this!
