"Evergreen" by Roy O. is certainly an overlooked classic. Been a favorite of mine 4 decades.
Check it out on Youtube.
I've never seen Madmen, I have been familar with this title (Shahdaroba) 4 a long time, I just checked it out. Well, I don't have 2 tell U that i discovered a classic. A B-side? Unbelievable! I read here that Cindy Walker wrote this. And I think that she wrote "You Don't Know Me"
Great talent obviously, not 2 well known. I love this.
I was also introduced to this song after seeing the last episode of Mad Men in Season 3. Tremendous song and well worth listening to over and over again.
NO ONE, and I truly mean Absolutely No One ELSE other than our boy Roy can ever do this GREAT Cindy Walker song JUSTICE. DEFINE the word "Shahdaroba" and it means so much more than just a physical relationship ... it can be your job, your car, a political stance, a belief, so many things ...
@chyman in the song it says, shadaroba-- means the future will be much better than the past. wiki. com says the word is of arabic origin and roughly translates into keep moving forward
I was listening to this on the way to work today, thinking "This song would be really great closing credits music." When I get home, I turn on the latest onDemand episode of Mad Men. The rest is history.
I DID NOT KNOW THIS SONG EITHER ,I AM A GREAT FAN OF ROY ORBISON ,I FIRST HEARD ROY ORBISON SING WHEN I WAS A GIRL OF SIXTEEN AND BEEN A FAN EVER SINCE ,WHAT A GREAT SONG....THANK YOU
Had this song on a ROY LP when I was 15 (many moons ago). Played & replayed so MANY times all nite my Mom would 1st yell & then come in & shut record player down! Can't believe more people don't know of it?
I had never heard this before today while watching a rerun of Mad Men. LOVE IT!!!!

Fking Roy. Youre too good - how can we ever eclipse you? Gut wrenching utterly beautiful - a time machine a courtship a lost love a found friendship

If you were a kid in the early 60's this guy was a big part of your day. Always on the Top 40 on the radio - always in my heart.

Hi, this is strange, of all the performances of Roy Orbison that I have, I first heard this one on Mad Men (and I am a baby boomer).
Great song and very touching dedication at the beginning,
