If you don't want to invest that money in something that enriches society like infrastructure, education, health care or scientific research, then put it towards the national debt or give it back to the American people in the form of a tax break. An excessively large military just makes it too easy and tempting for us to engage in wasteful, immoral wars.

Obviously a flat tax rate is impossible because the poor pay a higher percentage of their income on necessities so some form of graduated income tax is needed. All that needs to be decided is where those extra tax breaks go and Obama wants to "spread" it to the poorer McCain wants to "spread" it to the wealthy.

McCain didn't help himself by using the word "liberal" as an insult from day one. It worked for Bush but times have changed. I guess, if anything it got his base out but he would never win a majority with that attitude. Not this year! Those days of red state vs. blue state, liberal vs. conversative are gone with last night's win. America spoke, they want unity. That's a good thing for America too. If McCain had won, fear & hate would have prevailed. It didn't. That's wonderful. :)

The overall worth of the company will drop as well & the stock in that company, so it will be a 2 fold loss to the investor. McCain wants to keep it at %15 & hopes to lower it to %7. He will see that the soldiers are given proper state of the art equipment and then take care of the returning veterans as they should be. And he promises to not send them into unnecessary harm but if so insure that a proper and thorough plan is in place beforehand.

I hope this is true. Throwing money at the military is one of the least productive uses of tax revenue that can be imagined. If you don't want to invest that money in something that enriches society like infrastructure, education, health care or scientific research, then put it towards the national debt or give it back to the American people in the form of a tax break. An excessively large military just makes it too easy and tempting for us to engage in wasteful, immoral wars.

Now, I can see why Obama is so much like Bill Ayers. Both would never admit their troubled past. When asked about the past terror acts, Bill Ayers said he hoped he would have done more. Like father like son. If asked about his past terrorists associations and broken promises, Obama would say he would like to continue those personal associations, and would make more promises that he has no intention to keep.

Beachman, the whole "spread the wealth around" thing is a dumb argument. Obama said and and he shouldn't have but his plan does not "spread the wealth around" any more than McCain's. Obviously a flat tax rate is impossible because the poor pay a higher percentage of their income on necessities so some form of graduated income tax is needed. All that needs to be decided is where those extra tax breaks go and Obama wants to "spread" it to the poorer McCain wants to "spread" it to the wealthy.

That's by definition a form of "spreading the wealth," not that I'm criticizing the concept of state-owned mineral rights. I'm only pointing out the hypocrisy of Palin refering to Obama's tax plan as "spreading the wealth" when her own state of Alaska redistributes its oil/natural gas wealth.

The man we elect to be our next president will also be our next commander in chief, in charge of all branches of the U.S. military--the Army, the Navy, the Marine Corps, the Air Force, and the Coast Guard.
Obama has never served in the military and does not have a close relationship to our military.
McCain has a heroic service record and maintains an excellent relationship to our military. He pushed for the surge, which has been working extremely well.
