Okay, hes good BUT he's got no soul...as technically proficient as he is, he needs to work on his note choices...I don't hear any melodic tension here that spices up the dynamics of the solo.those slow, screaming passages accompanied with killer bends ala Marty Friedman. It's just one-dimensional staccatto/legatto shredding with very few tonal/melodical variations. Great guitar players aren't made of that. SORRY. He deserved to lose

Good at shredding and fast - but it doesn't cut just being good at playing fast. As amazing as his skills are I got bored after watching about two minutes of this. Sounds like all the other shredders out there. To make it out there you need to stand out cause there are sooo many good players out there.
TURN UP THE GUITAR! This was a guitar competition, right? That guitar should dwarf the rest of the band. The bass guitar is too loud, it just sounds like the poor guitarist is just playing "stuff". I can't hear it, and i'm sure nobody there heard it either. I hate sound engineers!

I have heard the studio version earlier, the 'knackig' Tone from his strat sounds fantastic, but in this version, I guess, he has used a JS1000, sounds so plain...
maybe, the first impression is strongest... ;-) or maybe I should write: the strat sounds better for me:-)
anyway, Fernando ist a great player, no matter what guitar he plays, his music is beautiful.
@waschburn Yeah, I personally think I like how the treble and sustain sounds on this Ibanez a lot. It probably plays better and faster though, which is why he's using it live; it's easier to not make mistakes on a skinny neck like that.
It's still really hard to tell just from this video, the sound is so off. That was the point I was trying to make, I don't think we're hearing the way the guitar really sounds.
I have a JS1000 too;-) a good guitar to play, but I still like the 'Strat Tone' more;-)
Tone is a tast just like hot dog and chips... everyone has his own favorite, for a 'no wong' comment, I think, I should write, the strat sounds better for me;-)

Good at shredding and fast - but it doesn't cut just being good at playing fast. As amazing as his skills are I got bored after watching about two minutes of this. Sounds like all the other shredders out there. To make it out there you need to stand out cause there are sooo many good players out there.

TURN UP THE GUITAR! This was a guitar competition, right? That guitar should dwarf the rest of the band. The bass guitar is too loud, it just sounds like the poor guitarist is just playing "stuff". I can't hear it, and i'm sure nobody there heard it either. I hate sound engineers!

hi bromang, no problem, cuz tone is a very subjective thing for everyone, right? ;-)
I have heard the studio version earlier, the 'knackig' Tone from his strat sounds fantastic, but in this version, I guess, he has used a JS1000, sounds so plain...
maybe, the first impression is strongest... ;-) or maybe I should write: the strat sounds better for me:-)
anyway, Fernando ist a great player, no matter what guitar he plays, his music is beautiful.

@waschburn Yeah, I personally think I like how the treble and sustain sounds on this Ibanez a lot. It probably plays better and faster though, which is why he's using it live; it's easier to not make mistakes on a skinny neck like that.
It's still really hard to tell just from this video, the sound is so off. That was the point I was trying to make, I don't think we're hearing the way the guitar really sounds.

I have a JS1000 too;-) a good guitar to play, but I still like the 'Strat Tone' more;-)
Tone is a tast just like hot dog and chips... everyone has his own favorite, for a 'no wong' comment, I think, I should write, the strat sounds better for me;-)

I can hear all the instruments fine(4, happy broski), and yes the bass is a little loud..in some parts . Anyone can tell you that. Maybe Fernando intended for that? I don't know, its not either of our pieces. However, it shouldn't be enough to distract the listener from the great playing from Fernando. Once again, get a hearing check brah.
