Part2: I think it's because German TV "remastered" the sound (upped the volume level or even used a compressor) on the one hand and, on the other, because fuckin' eyeTV always overamlifies the volume level (and there is no way to change it; neither at eyeTV-GUI nor there is a command line hack). I used 192kbps mp4-Audio - so I don't think it's my fault, but if you listen (e.g.) to track 2 (=Peanuts) you will hear Sting's bass is buzzing 2 times or more.
Part1: Regrettably I have to say: "I don't think so" about the sound quality. You might be toughened by the "loudness war" (see wikipedia), but IMO it's rather overamplified.
