I guess if Ryu would've been the main character in the movie then JCVD wouldn't had been in the movie. JCVD is very arrogant even today, he turned down the role for the movie The Expendibles for 2 reasons. One he wasn't the lead actor (he should face the fact he's a has-been) and two he had to do a fight scene with Jet Li (Dolph Lundgren took the role and the character he plays doesn't get along with Li's character) . By the way Jet Li could've played as Ryu in this movie back in the day.

Well, if Ryu had been the main character and a few more changes made to the film, like Blanka being a friend of Ryu's called "Jimmy" (like his name in the games), and Bison being leader of the Shadaloo organisation, Chun-Li being an Interpol agent, the mafia boss' name being Zochi (like in SFII V), and Bison's top fighters being Sagat, Balrog, Vega, Zangief, Dee Jay and Cammy (Guile's assistant being someone else), etc.

Who knows? Maybe an American actor better known for supporting roles would have done a better job as Guile. RJ was the main attraction, true, but still, they should have been more faithful to the games, and maybe they could have brought up a sequel with Akuma as the villain.
Songs like these make my heart go wild 'n brings me tears of joy to remember those good ol times... Do some of you get these feelings too?

The Game and the Movie: both SEVERELY underrated. If Ryu had been the main character in the film, I think it would have been much more popular.
