  • The iron city. The horror of living in post enlightenment liberal urban hell. Now I turn to Rome for salvation and truth.

  • @samynonthegreen - Yes, I remember the decay of graffitti back in the early 70s. I'm glad things are much cleaner now. Rome? I hope you don't mean the vatican.

  • @ACLTony Yes of course Rome, the Vatican center of Christianity which built western civilization.

  • amazing, love this doc. Thanks for posting.

the best of music and visual arts come together into

    a technological meltdown.

That last shot of this part 1, of the billboard, sums up what the corporate world

wants you to focus on..and graf is the liberating - self - focus but you do it externally, like they spend all those resources to get you to eat cattle.

    all city 1983

    style wars 1983

  • HELLO

  • Graffiti in it's prime. I was pretty a kid when graffiti was artistic. These guys spent a lot of time and effort to make their mark. The "taggers" of my high school days up until present just scrawl their names everywhere like a dog peeing on things to claim it's territory. There is a big difference.

  • @Pkgsound Yep, first it was effort and art, now its just fancy signatures like I'm going to know who Ice-T or some random graffiti artist is.

  • who fucken cares just paint it over or put security in the yards

  • its art ... its rare like the monalisa ^^

  • I <3 GRAFFITI

  • you negroes are the true jews

  • Can't we all just get along brothers !!!' amen!!

  • @Ericdz302

we should all get baked so we don't get mad at eachother..

  • amazing footage.

    tanks~

  • nicee its impossible to tag trains these days :(

  • like it!

  • omfg y r u such a fag bich

  • Well thought out, good sceen changes but juniville

  • @Kbaydoc yes juniville thats it... like your typing maybe?

  • Great art is in the street

  • It's a shame to see public transportation trashed with graffiti. We live in a country blessed enough with the resources to provide for us. The nigger loves to shit where he sleeps. The graffiti might as well say..."Nigger was here!" Get an education, read, develop a conscience, work towards something productive and you will see in hindsight how stupid this is. Quit blaming 'the Man' for your stupidity.

  • @dmgcat We are trying to talk art here, if you are so eager about expressing your political ideas in an online videos website at least go to one of them political videos to do it!

  • @Krataios20 this isn't art as much as golf is a sport. When you are defacing someone else's property it isn't art. Would a video of your mom banging 5 guys be considered art???? Trash, for trashy people. For hard luck cases who have no desire to do anything with their basic talents.

  • Why are you calling me ignorant? Am I the one defacing public property with my junk? If you read my statement I have a problem with niggers not black people. I voted for Obama. Do you see Obama spray painting graffiti? If you niggers were like Obama I wouldn't have a problem with you. Chris Rock even said he hates niggers. Some blacks move out of the city to get away from niggers! Niggers are idiots with no class, thugs. Most blacks are niggers.

  • @dmgcat You're a pussy cracker bitch who doesn't have the balls to call a black guy a nigger to his face so you can do it on youtube. yeah you are ignorant and your nothing but an infantile piece of garbage.

  • @simpsons2170 how about you stop mouthin off you guilty white punk ass- how about you bring your guilty white azz over to my neighborhood harlem usa, bend over and let the niggahs tear you apart? that's what you want right? go stick your head back up your guilty ass shithead

  • @philosopher1976 hey dude, i'm not sure you're getting mad at the right guy here...i was calling dmgcat on his racist bullshit. in any case i'm not white, and i have no racial bias or whatever to be guilty of.

  • @simpsons2170 ok but just to get something clear, white guilt is guilt over having been aggressive and dominant, which is related indirectly related to racial bias. if i call another white guy a guilty white motherfucker, it means that he's a slimy pussy for feeling guilty (and now becoming masochistic) over having been aggressive. still, you can go fuck yourself

  • @philosopher1976 yeah, i'm not white, i'm not guilty of anything. nor are most white people, nor should they be for something that happened a 100 years before they were born. your telling me to go fuck myself when i'm calling racist trolls on their bullshit? well then you're just an asshole, fuck you.

  • Great short film. Ima Graf artist from back in 1980 and I'm black and you assholes out there need to kick rocks.

  • @garyce Are you proud of being an jerk and defacing property with your spray paint. You are the scum of america

  • F*ckin' Awesome sh!t...I'm speechless!

  • That was really beautiful. I was hypnotized by it.

  • Trashy.

  • I farted

  • You know the difference between a nigger and a black person? It's simple, it's class! Most of blacks are niggers because they have no class! You can be poor and still have class. The smart blacks will know what I'm saying but you dumb niggers will never get it.

  • @dmgcat i hope every female in your family gets raped you cocksucka. your a pussy ole venting hate where its safe... go tell some black people how you feel about them.

  • Screw you too and take responsibility for your actions. If you don't like European culture and its amenities like drinking water, education, buildings and art then go back to Africa. Blacks spent about 100 years as slaves (not all) and the other 200 years complaining and assing up the place. What do you have to complain about? What's with trashing up our cities? Is that how you 'roll yo'?

  • ppl should start doin that shit now, at least to give the mta a purpose for another fare hike

  • Graffiti is an element of Hip-Hop. Its only good when used in Hip-Hop form, not when its used by stupid-ass gang members.

  • @XxEAZYxExX too true

  • If you want to do art, get a canvas, don't deface public transportation. Then this isn't "art", it's vandalism. Funny that the height of graffitti in NYC coincided with the highest murder/crime rate in the city's history. And that the decline in graffitti on trains coincided with the decline in the same. Rational people finally said enough of this bull#%it.

  • Dumbass idiots spray painting everything. If you spent as much time painting your house as you do graffiti on trains etc. you might have a nice house. How does section 8 afford paint anyways...Two things I hate about cities today are trashy graffiti and loud bass music from woofers...thank you black culture for the inspiration to ruin everything you touch.

  • @dmgcat You're an idiot. "...to ruin everything you..." That's more of a description of European culture, asshat. Or even better...religion.

  • @dmgcat Graffitti is beautiful, NYC is beautiful, black people are beautiful...you are ugly and ignorant. Furthermore if you have a problem with black people I suggest you move to a country without a black president.

  • @simpsons2170 the president is half black, he was raised by his white mother and grandmother, his black father left him when he was 2...what a surprise

  • @simpsons2170 he is half black remember

  • @ridesdeepsnow thats why all the racists in the country call him a nigger, yes I am aware.

  • mad love for uploading this!!!! =D

  • im from the bay but much respect to nyc.

  • These people that say graffiti isn't about making money BLAH BLAH BLAH, are fucking retarded & have obviously never been through shit. You ever starved before, it ain't fun so fuck you. If you can make $ doing something, than why not?

  • @KILLFIGHTA dude ur the retarded one, graff isnt about making money its about getting ur name up and demanding respect.

  • @SikeSikeSike333 SCREW YOU, BITCH

  • @SikeSikeSike333 getting respect like getting a job, not committing crimes. Respect from who?, other dumbfucks that have nothing better to do then play like children with spray paint.. What a respect to get, King of the dumbasses!!!

  • @ridesdeepsnow NYC4EVA!

  • @KILLFIGHTA you are the type of person who's daughter is a porn star

  • @ridesdeepsnow and your the type of redneck who fucks their daughter.

  • @simpsons2170 Hell yeah, MAN!!

  • @KILLFIGHTA I meant that saying good for you for backing me up! ROCK ON!

  • @simpsons2170 redneck?? Bitch I am born and raised Los Angeles. I am a redneck because I believe scumbag city rat kids spray painting dumb nicknames for respect is a complete waste of time? Well then you truly are as stupid as your last comment mentioning incest sex. Only perverted assholes like yourself who mention stuff like that are the ones who really want that type of sex.

  • @ridesdeepsnow clearly you don't like to be lumped in with stereotypes yourself, so how about you voice your disagreements and arguments without spewing some racist bullshit and engaging in a civil discourse. new york city graffiti was artwork which reflected the urban decay new york was in during the 70's and 80's...and all kids tagged blacks, hispanics, and white kids..that's just fact.

  • @ridesdeepsnow Damn' straight, BITCH!

  • I think underground art like this is beautiful. too bad you hardly see this anymore.

  • that is just so sick! masterpiece of art

  • @v0LExN you don't see art like that anymore.

  • thats funny how it doesn't happen in white neighborhoods

  • @TheProfessionalloser theres graffiti everywhere, albeit less than there was in the 70's and 80's if you want to stay in your safe WASP neighborhoods, i suggest you move to/stay in Connecticut

  • @simpsons2170 I dont think you understand, any place that has a majority of whites, is safer than a black neighborhood its a fact. The blacks in these neighborhoods dont have regard for anything. And it is fact that one is safer in any white neighborhood over a black neighborhood. And why would act as if it better to live in a black neighborhood over a wasp neighborhood. Its way better to know that the worst that will happen is a neighbor borrowing your rake and not returning it than mayB dieing

  • LMAO, have u ever been to a black neighborhood?, trust me, u not gon get killed

  • @TheProfessionalloser yeah I live in a largely black neighborhood in a Long Island suburb it is the epitome of the middle class wet dream, before that I lives in queens where there's a lot of every race and I never had a problem, I did however have a problem in high school when dumb racist assholes gave me shit for being indian...so fuck you guy, you're just a racist cunt.

  • @simpsons2170 its fact that more murders are in black neighborhoods

  • @TheProfessionalloser Is that why NYC with it's high population of blacks and other minorities is the safest city in the country? The fact is you are at best, prejudiced and at worst just a racist troll. As I said, I live in a largely black/ mixed neighborhood for about 15 years now and the worst thing that's happened in all that time is people speeding or some kids doing some dumb shit at the park. You probably don't know any black people, well get used to em buddy the president is black.

  • @simpsons2170 just like that other dude said the pres is half black and the parent that took responsibility was his white mother. And i have a black friend who lived in cabrini green chicago his father was murdered and his mom was addicted to crack and now lives in a wealthy white neighborhood with white parents who adopted him. And for future reference stick with the facts NYC is not the safest city in the country it is number 8 actually. Look at Gary Indiana.

  • @simpsons2170 NYC is not the safest city by far. I would like to know what neighborbooh you live in do do some research on ow safe it really is cause you are BULLSHIT

  • @ridesdeepsnow I got tired of arguing with a bunch of racists on this comments section but you need to be taken down a peg. NYC is in fact the safest major city in the US.

  • @simpsons2170 I agree! There are many places that are unsafe like Baltimore or certain parts of LA. I don't feel unsafe anywhere in NY.

  • @TheProfessionalloser no that's wrong. Who commits murders, chopping off heads, disembowlling, etc..? African men and women ain't that wound up and crazy. They go in for mostly petty little crimes. The most dangerous thing they do is a little gun fire....

  • @manoljo may i suggerst you look up "black serial killers", and then you will realize how ridiculous and ill informed you are

  • @discovery781 well I'm not ill informed. I wasn't talking about specific areas. I was talking about North America in general. And lists of black serial killers are dated as being decades ago. Many of them at least a quater to half century back. The only reported serial killer in U.S.A. over the past 27 years or so is just ONE.

  • @TheProfessionalloser i agree with you 100%

  • @simpsons2170 Wasp neighbor hoods. Does that mean neighborhoods with educated non trashy people in hood speak? Graffiti is only in poor neighborhood with hoodrat kids looking nothing better to do than do that crap. I feel bad for you daddy can;t afford you real art products that you have to dram on the property of others.

  • @ridesdeepsnow Art is subjective to the viewer. Your views on the lower class are obnoxious. The topic of if it should be done on private property can be a subject of debate, one which I would probably be against, but graffiti itself is an artistic expression. If you don't realize/appreciate that that's your loss. Graffiti was an expression of the state the city was in the 70's and 80's As for your comments about "my daddy" you don't know shit about me or my family or anything else, so fuck you

  • @simpsons2170 Yeah, even though I find graffiti obnoxious and pretencious, I don't dis-enfrachise it as an art. graffiti expressed anger, frustration, stress, attitude, and mundane emotions in a relatively tame way compared to how others do. There is even something sort of admirable about a man trying to live on on the rails, in order to subvert a death in the streets. A sort of immortality that can be accessed by the common man. Graffiti makes a man stuck in one situation, into a nomad.

  • If only they the artist would put their work on paper or Canvas instead of trains and walls although some walls have great paintings with the permission of owners. The public really enjoys this; but It takes many hours to clean the trains I know many guys that work in TA and complain of lung and nose problems steming from this cleanup. Your work will go further if it was Exhibited in gallory they can make a lot of money

  • Making money is not the purpose of graffiti. It's a form of underground art, thus making money from it would be opposite to EVERY artist's ideas or beliefs. If graffiti was painted on a canvas it would be similar to ANY other form of painting. The fact that it can be done almost ANYWHERE is what makes it stand out. Now as far as the TA guys. Honestly I don't really care, because I don't see any reasons why shouldn't graffiti be left on trains... Peace from a 15 year old graffiti artist...

  • @Krataios20 not respecting the workers of the TA your work sould be elsewhere I guess you wear a mask when you work have

  • @Krataios20 15 does not make it right you have talent Peter Max has displaid his work everywhere his ":Graffiti " is well appreciated and respected and he is older than you much older and more sense. I like your work be responsible I am sure you wear a face mask when you work or paint.

  • @nickyjukebox43 Graffiti is not meant to be displayed, it is meant to be discovered. I don't care if Max's graffiti is appreciated and respected by the public. Graffiti is not meant for the public. It is meant for those who are willing to even try understanding it's ideology and purpose. To my eyes Peter Max is an artist doing graffiti, not a graffiti artist and to me and others like me, being an (underground) graffiti artist means alot more than being just an artist doing graffiti...

  • @Krataios20 If you live in NY myrtle ave and woodhaven blvd.check out his "graffiti"

  • @Krataios20 Who says where graffiti is ment to be..? Btw when gangs did and does graffitis they want(ed) to show that it's their place ..So of course it's in some public place where everyone notices it ..but not in train what moves long distances because then it's not in one place :D Today peoples make graffitis because they want to do something illegal (at least if their graffitis are ugly)

  • @isokessu ..toki?

  • jesus is in the building 5:57

  • Great nostalgic images of the city.

  • All we need now is a guy in tight jeans with a dangling earring who chews toothpicks and pulls a switchblade on you.

  • @AggressiveAtheist yes to some on here that guy is their hero. They will go far in life

  • i like how people say graf only shows up in slum areas these days although last i checked some of the most respected, modern day artists were at one time graf artists or street artists. remember the obama campaign and the obey "change" poster? yeah, that what shepard and he started with stencils and wheat paste. give respect where respect is due. oh and wether it comes from a paint brush or an aerosol paint can it is still a tool for expressive art.

  • Jesus Trains @ 5:57

  • It's like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder how I keep from going under, uh huh huh uh huh huh.

  • @SLUTtristiaanimi hell yea

  • Looks like the same shit that's thrown around today, except for the ridiculously high-quality photoshop-like tags that pros today do.

  • iMiss seeing graffiti like that in NY. Now iJust see penises drawn in the C train

  • yes the world is changing

  • man some of those trains belong on the smithonian museom, thats one in not the biggest art movemant world wide(that evolved in short time)

  • This is early...like '73 '74. I used to see 'Blade' up all the time in the BX.

  • Trash. Not art. Created by trash. Not humans.

  • I bombed a train 2 days ago and they wiped off right away after the train left the statioin

  • i liked it when ppl had purpose vs just DEFACING things

  • @soulcalibur22for some people, things like this will be the highlight of their lives.

  • @soulcalibur22 who's defacing things?

  • @zeta070831 lets not pretend to be stupid it looks bad on you.

  • Pure art!!!!!

  • Dope!!!!

  • before style wars... wowooow

  • Sell CCV, dumps(track1,2) banklogin

    Contact my yahoo: mouse_ccv

  • I miss the 80's in new york. that's when everything was authentic and real.

  • THis is the NYCMTA I grew up on LOL! The 80's was dope N funky fresh!

  • Nothing like dirtbag kids defacing property with their bullshit tags. Poor kids with nothing better to do than ruin other people's property with their childish painting. It was a FAD, thats why it isn't around anymore cause it's GAY. Hood rat kids thinking they were cool.. Too funny.

  • @ridesdeepsnow thats why its not around anymore????

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

    ITS WORLD WIDE FOOL!!!!!!!

  • @thisizhegznogz its not around like it used to be is what I meant. I am 36 and remember the 80's very well. NYC its just in some of the worst areas. The trains are clean of graffiti and so are major cities around the globe. I think you are the fool. Only a true fool would be wrapped up in something so ridiculous. I live in LA, go to NYC, Philly, San Fran, Tokyo, Paris a lot for work, I go everywhere in those towns. Only slum area have it still

  • @ridesdeepsnow its not around any more only on the trains, its everywere in the street still.

trains get hit in all major us cities they just get cleaned by the next day.

dont say that its the same all over the globe buddy cause your wrong, some transit systems still dont clean the graffiti off.

only a TRUE FOOL would spend time watching videos and commenting on SOMETHING SO RIDICULOUS.

    HAHAHA.

  • @ridesdeepsnow is still is popular thats why u see alot in almost every city. And tags are gay but im sure people would rather see a nice piece rather than looking at a dull train/wall.

  • @GamexReviewx Honestly no, I think you and people like yourself would like to see graffiti instead of a wall. see you stare at walls while others read books, newspapers, listening to music while waiting for trains. People like you stare at things, that says a lot

  • so Ramones graffiti?

  • Absolutely dope!

  • Brass Tax

  • Great cinematography, camera angles. Art.

  • I wonder if the MTA has saved any of these cars for their transit museum. These are indeed brilliant works of art!

  • MY BLACKANGEL VIDEO GO MY CHANNAL!

  • ART?

  • @tryithere why not?

  • @RHYMePRIMe Some of it is art but most of it was just scibbling

  • @tryithere the essence of the art of graffiti is based on leaving a mark of what you represent even if its just ''scribling''.. it depends on the writer how he wants to leave that mark. thats how i see it anyway ..

  • BYB, GO, TC!

  • It's illegal to paint cars. But I consider it art.

  • @rickster348 then anything is art in your mind. what if someone tied you to a bench at night and painted you up, would that be art??? c'mon dont make dumb comments

  • @ridesdeepsnow that's what I said. It's illegal.

  • I love how no one is talking on here, just showing the beauty of art.
