  • I am still ashamed about what happened when RN commandos (?) Were arrested by the Iranians. I am a 57 year old man, and yet I would truly wish to die rather than experience what happened there. My dad died last year . He was 93 . He was wounded in Holland in 1945. Personally would rather die than shame my country. My country was shamed that day. What answer does the RN have? We have not yet heard. How do I contact the people at the top? My mum went through WW!!. We talk. She is ashamed.

  • @pogmathon100 Unfortunately they were an armed party in Iranian national waters and as such were open to arrest, and legally so, according to international law. To have resisted would have constituted a beligerant act. That is why they gave themselves over.

  • astute can detect ships leaving new york harbour from the english channel

  • @UKCallum1 Apparently so, and that is insane! I'm hoping to serve on the Astute class sometime!

  • @dbrz I know what you mean, the conservatives are supposed to be the party of patriotism but with political correctness even they would rather syphon money off to the black hole thag is the nhs and so called 'incentive' schemes. This period of time will be just like the 1930s when almosg no money will be given to the forces due to complasantsy, theyle realise soon enough what a massive mistake theyve made.

  • @jamiejohnson1611 The black hole you need to worry about is not the NHS, it's Afghanistan, which is supposed to be the key to everything even remotely connected with the UK's defence, and which is sucking the life blood out of the entire armed forces budget. The key danger from that part of the world is the inspiration that it offers to home-grown extremists - as we saw five years ago. Chasing bad guys around the Afghan-Pakistan border will never put that particular genie back in the bottle.

  • I hope to god we get a sensible govt in this year! It will be a sad day if the royal navy is not given its carriers, subs and frigates! Rule brittania!

  • @jamiejohnson1611 : Get ready for another Falklands War what with all that Oil they've found and, let's face it, Cameron's lot are already threatening to pull the plug on the planned Queen Elizabeth class carriers the RN desperately needs. ANOTHER short sighted, 1st term Conservative Govt. is *all* we need. But what's the alternative?

  • The Royal Navy is shit now, no offence intended there.

In 1960, there were 404 Vessels, now there are a merely 117 or so.... dissapointing...

  • @2k8FARNHILL2k8 And ofcourse the capability of those vessels have absolutely no bearing on the quality of the navy. Much better to have 404 shit vessels than 117 good ones right? Seriously, fuck off and don't come back until you have even the slightest clue what you're talking about. In the Cold War, the US had 600 ships, now they have 280 and it will probably fall to about 240 by 2025. But by your logic that must make the US Navy shit too right? Every navy on Earth has shrunk, not just the UK.

  • @2k8FARNHILL2k8 no you have it all wrong mate back in the day we have over 600 we still have 336 the reason why we have less is because we upgraded every vessel and has the worlds best technology built onto them thats why mate

  • ive herd the ratings are just used to do the risky jobs and are used to be sent into dnagerous areas whilst the officers are all safely tucked away inside the ship

  • I think you'll find US ships are antiquated. Our new carriers and destroyers are stealth. That means we can destroy yours.

  • I don't think so, US Navy has way longer range weaponry than those of the the RN.

  • no, the RN nuclear sub astute class can fire missies over 1,040 miles away acurately. and can here a ship over 3,000 miles away (if siting just of the coast of the UK it would be able to hear a ship in new york)

escorts such as destroyers and frigates have range simular to the US navy though the new T 45 class destroyer(most advanced in the world) has range almost twice as much.

  • Average age of a US warship is 26 years old average age of a british warship is just 11 years our type 42's are being replaced with type45's yes they are about 25 years old we have newer mine warfare vessels our frigates were built in the 90's unlike the american perrys 70's in all its fairly even age wise, its not about how old the vessel is anyways is more to do with the training and the british are best in the buisness.

  • dude, Britain has way more updated warships than the U.S navy, when it comes to capabilities

  • Between 0.43 to 0.48 is HMAS Ballarat (FFH 155) an Anzac class frigate of the Royal Australian Navy.

  • Dead on.....looks American because of the Gun-housing of the 5-inch gun (L-54).

  • No Thats A British Warship Mate

  • Great video, although im not sure about the ship at 0:42 looked more like an american warship to me but i might be wrong.

Anyway thanks for uploading, good choice of music :)
