Human beings uses the last tecnology to the same objective like our forbears, the monkeys, used sticks of wood and stones: fight between us. We have experienced an enormous evolution ... but we aren't human yet.
I don't quite believe in them either, but if we're not human, then what is? People and all animals will always share in common a need to love and a need to hate, and I believe that love is a much more personal experience that is usually harder to notice or appreciate for third parties, while violence is bold and visible, therefore very prone to being exploited by the media to paint a much more startling and morbid overview of the human experience. Things aren't perfect but we could do worse.
violence bold? Expecialy the soldier children of the countrys of center Africa... Could be worse? not in Palestina or Irak. Our specie is the only that sistematized and industrialized de violence, this can't be a human comportament.
To be human complete, we need found a social evolution that encage with our evolution as specie, if it isn't like that; our differences with the monkeys will continue being minims.

Also you seem to agree with me that violence is bold. If I lash out and punch someone in the face, people are going to remember that much more than if I once went to take care of dying old people.
