Ron Paul wants to get rid of the department of education and many other important federal departments. He's a libertarian running as a republican. He's fine on foreign relations, but TERRIBLE on domestic issues. Our only hope is in a democratic candidate.

isomind, what you need to realize is that the current government policy of corporate welfare and big business favoritism is what helps the corporations while hurting the consumers. Deregulating corporations forces them to compete more aggressively with other corporations, lowering prices and raising quality, thus benefiting the consumer who purchases their products.

The reason we support him is not just because of his message. As you said, politicians lie. Ron Paul has proven not to be a politician because in 20 years he has NEVER voted against his stated principles. Government controls are appropriate; gov't creates corp's, after all, so is responsible for its creations. BUT, that doesn't require all the massive federal bureaucracies we have today, unless the controls are expanded into essentially running the corp's, which gets us into FASCISM (merger of corp and gov't).

The Constitution is not changed by time, by judges, or by conventional wisdom, only by AMENDMENT -- by changing the TEXT itself, according to the lawful procedures for doing so.

No no, I don't mean to ignore the things which lead to amendments! I'm simply saying that the Constitution only changes when it is amended. Of course the process takes time and there is always first at least a debate, and sometimes more vigorous conflict. But those things without a ratified amendment don't change the Constitution.

isomind, what you need to realize is that the current government policy of corporate welfare and big business favoritism is what helps the corporations while hurting the consumers. Deregulating corporations forces them to compete more aggressively with other corporations, lowering prices and raising quality, thus benefiting the consumer who purchases their products.
