@dirtsleeper714 "They" are nit truly explained in the movie. But from what is revealed, they are some type of creature that live in a shadow realm. They implant devices in the heads of certain handfuls of children, which causes them to have night terrors. Once they grow up, the monsters come back to take them into the shadow realm and literally eat them. Only the people who had the device implanted in them can see them. They are very disturbing looking too... like giant spider-people-bats. D:

@dirtsleeper714 Yeah, of course to get the best look at the things you'll have to watch the whole movie. But make sure its somewhat dark. Because i've watched the movie under lighter setting before so you can see the monsters better and it makes them alot less scary. I mean, they're still freaky as hell. But the darkness obscuring them makes them a bit more frightening and mysterious, and i like it that way ;)

Saw this with a friend... We were both so scared (we both have a fear of spiders, and the creatures kinda looked like spiders) so we heard like cracking noises and spent the whole night freaking out and sneaking around. The next morning a few more people came over and we were STILL scared. But, we eventually laughed when it all of a sudden showed a guy having a seizure and peeing green on TV. yep.... :D

I watched some fake Silent Hill 2 trailer and decided to see this movie yesterday. Suprisingly, it's kind of cool. People don't act that stupid here like in most horror movies these days. Ending was bad but what can you do. The best part though was that two minutes after the movie ended, the power went off in our entire block. And that was like - thanks, I didn't need to sleep tonight. I seriously didn't go to bathroom till they turned it back on. Funny

I guess They and Silent Hill do have a few things in common: the fear of the mysterious unknown theme, the feeling of helplessness at a series seemingly random and terrifying situations, a blonde female lead searching for answers, and they both feature the same child actress.  But they feel different enough, especially in setting, not to seem like one was copying another imo.

This was nothing like Silent Hill, I don't see the comparison :/ it's like night and day, plus Silent Hill didn't come out till 4 years later :P I thought this movie was good, uniquely scary.
