I was really little when this movie first came out and when my parents went to see it in the theatres, so I don't remember any of what was happening back in the day. But I later saw it when it first came on television and then the uncut version when we first got a Beta VCR. I heard the story over and over of how much it terrified my mom when she first saw it and how she had to leave the theatre a few times. She then came home and sat by the beds of my sister and I, terrified for us.

Within the genre of diabolical possession the film is unquestionably the best of its kind. It's also a great film period. They probably couldn't have known it when they were making it but they wound up with something that's beyond compare, & for what it's worth, very faithful to what could happen if a demon were to inhabit a person's body & take over their will. It would be an extreme case & I know the non-believer can't be convinced, but something like this could happen though it rarely does.
