  • Grosse arnaque le xt 9500 est une véritable merde j'en ai fait les frais!!

Depuis février 2011 lors du retour à l'envoyeur toujours aucun remboursement malgré de nombreux appels. Ne vous faites pas avoir comme moi.

  • If I were a cop, I would set myself up in a location that had a false signal, just to catch RD users who think they're so smart :)

  • Why don't these work in europe? i took the 9500i to Europe with me and it's so useless u r gonna want to throw it out of the window (as i did) 'coz it detects absolutely everything from gas stations by the road to shops and everything in between, u just get so fed up with the false alarms

  • I agree with many that this might be a set up or a faulty detector. I have the 9500 ix and have not had this problem. Several times I have been alerted to police K radar within a false K zone because it picked up 2 frequencies. I like auto learn but I leave it off and perform manual lockouts.

  • is this in wolf point or glasgow mt?

  • OMG people are buttholes. The were just showing how the detector will not show a given band if you program it not to. And as for setting up a radar next to a shopping center, the cop's radar will be on a different frequency and the 9500 will alert you to both. (Unless you have an ix and it memorizes the store door's frequency like mine does. Radar does not have one frequency and there are rarely two together with the same frequency. Now who is the IDIOT?

  • this is so stupid!!! you guysoflidar must think people are complete morons. of course if you set up an area as a false positive and then have a radar gun aiming at you 5 seconds later it's going to consider that part of the false alert!!! pointless!!!!

so if you're concerned about that... DONT SET ANY ALERTS AS FALSE!!!! IT'S AN OPTION DUH!!!!!!

  • Secondly, even if this wasn't the case, the video was shot in April 2007, which means that this has to be a very early production unit of the original 9500i. As a result, software issues & glitches were still likely prevalent. But, I honestly think this video was set up to make the Escort appear to be malfunctioning in AutoLearn mode by hovering right around the minimum speed while near the known false alert. I'd take this video very lightly...

  • This video should be ignored for numerous reasons. First off, the 9500i, while in AUTO mode & near a known false alert with AutoLearn active, will only alert to other new threats if above speeds of 35 mph. As the radar gun in the video proved, the vehicle targeted was hovering right around 35, meaning that the radar detector was likely staying silent intentionally since the vehicle was moving too slow in the false alert zone. Despite that, who's gonna get a speeding ticket doing sub-35 mph? Sec

  • Smells of V1 Fanbois pissed their once good detector is now completely OBSOLETE ;) lol

  • just had this happened to my 2 days ago.

    yeah, got flashed!!!

sending 9500ix back and get the v1 instead.

  • This test could have been setup

All you have to do is find the range of the false and adjust the Radar gun that that freq

Then it would lock it out

easily a way to be Biased

I just got this RD and will test it out I will also post video if it does or does not lock out the leo

  • can cops tell if you have a radar in your car??

its illegal wehre i live, i just want allerts when a cop is close by

do NOT want them to have a clue that i have it in my car

  • It depends on if you get a discrete one or not. They're normally more expensive, but cops wont be able to see them easily. The Windshield mounted versions are easily seen.

  • @marcmazz IF U WANT TO STAY AWAY FROM TICKETS HERE IS SOME GOOD ADVICE , BUY A BLACK SLANTED CAR ( I HAVE A VETT ) THE BLACK AND RED VETTS ARE HARD TO CLOCK IN TIME BECAUSE THEY ABSORB A LOT OF THE RADAR ENERGY SO THAT IT CANT BEAM BACK TO THE GUN . AND GET A GOOD RADAR DETECTOR . THEY CAN STILL GET YOU BUT AS LONG AS YOU KEEP YOUR EYES PEALED AND KNOW THE AREA YOU ARE IN ITS HARD . I SPEED EVERYWHERE I GO JUST ABOUT AND HAVE NOT HAD A TICKET IN CLOSE TO 3 YEARS

  • well, thats a hard one.. if this detector is doing a gps based lockout and the "cop" and the "false" are within 100ft of each other... there's no way the radar detector would be able to discriminate between the two. For this lock out feature to work correctly, the detector needs to store 1) gps location, 2) radar source and signature, 3) number of sources detected. That way if your in the same area and there should be only one false and it now sees two. It should warn radar trap.

  • this RD sooks!!

  • This video is doing disservice to this detector. There **may** have been problems with some of the very first production models, but I suspect that is now a thing of the past.

I've owned this detector over a year and have never had this happen. Whenever I've encountered police radar in a location I've previously locked out, I'm always alerted.

I previously owned a Valentine 1 and although I loved it, the features/performance of this detector are incredible and hard to beat.

  • This is the problem with detectors "locking out" anything.. You should never have anything locked out. Pay attention to what the detector is saying or don't use it at all... Locking out is not the answer.

  • You just need to know how to properly use your 9500i, you can accidentally lock out signals in the area as well as the false. Other then that i say the 9500i passport is by far the best detector out of them all i have used.

  • thats really unfortunate, i will think twice about getting this now

  • It would have to be the exact same frequency radar, and need to be with a certain area for this to happen.

So chances are it would never happen, and besides being a 9500i they had to manually lock that signal out.

  • Why would the signal be locked out?

  • old video and im sure they have updated quite a bit on the new 9500's for the truelock feature, but i will never ever ever trust that feature for anything for this reason wether they have updates on it or not cuz it could probably still happen..

  • This is what happens when they use GPS to try to get too fancy with detectors. The X50, V1, or RX-65 are all you really need.

  • Just because someone has a radar detector doesn't mean they speed, i bought mine because of a little thing called situational awareness.

  • drug dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The few times I have gotten a radar ticket it was not because I was out to be speeding.

I was relaxing, I though I was doing the speed limit. I just drove into a speed trap.

  • zbeast: same here :)

  • The truelock feature works fine. as you have to drive at least 1 mile from the area after you press truelock. If you don't any subsequent radar will also be locked out

  • I will shoot you in the head with my A K band gun!

  • You must of abused yours lol idk Mines works just fine

  • This was a brand new detector, a week old. Escort didn't even want Guys Of Lidar testing the 9500i cause they knew it had problems....Too bad 2 GOL members purchased their own 9500i's before the test

  • I've never gotten a ticket using my very old Passport and the 9500i :)

  • if the cobra alerts every 5 seconds youll always be driving slow

  • You mean always at the speed limit ;)

  • Going to get a V1 instead

  • Valentine 1 is the best ! nuff said you dumb fuckers.

  • Not sure if this guys RD is faulty or not but on my way to work I pass a bank that sets off a K band. I've had that location locked out for a couple weeks now. A couple days ago, right in front of the bank my 9500i alerted me to a full K band blast. The cop was in the parking lot zapping people. So, I know for a fact that the 9500i does not have a design flaw. I belive this guys vid is for real and he just got a faulty 9500i.

  • I had my 8500 X50 for a while, and I was tempted to buy the new 9500i which turned out to be a huge mistake. Returned the 9500i and got a V1. Never looked back.

  • No idiot, he doesn't work for V1.

GOL is an independent group of testers.

  • so this vid is pretty confusing.

  • It should come as no surprise that the Escort 9500i doesn't work as advertised and is a piece of crap compared to the Valentine One. Craig Peterson is the loser who runs RadarTestdotcom and he works for Bel and Escort by bashing the V1 but he was caught because he is a dumbass. Check the GuysofLidardotcom to read about this immature idiot.

  • def leppard in the background....hey man where was that shot i love the mountains in the front, where you driving on a highway or road...what's the name of the strip you were driving.....o yea shitty radar

  • we will be testing this feature using a real police radar unit by Kustom, we are testing this on the weekend...check my videos for the footage

  • Wow more clear facts that the gays of lidar love to give people the wrong idea about Escort radar detectors. '

Lets see a real video of a cop using K band radar not GOL. Car and driver can use this video for there next radar detector shootout and send a copy to Mr Valentine so he can post it on his website.

  • Sorry lol radarboy, gay name, but the V1 kicks the hell out of any other radar detector. The 9500i doesn't have the bogey counter, which he is proving in this video.

  • ^ There is expert mode which will show multiple signals escort has had that feature for a while now. RTFM

  • The 9500i does have this problem of locking out the whole band (but i'm not sure if it also locks out the other bands, Ka and Laser).

And yep, all you gatta do is use the expert mode, this will show fix this problem.

  • Clear evidence !!! I hope Escort step up and rectify this issue! Good Vid

  • True lock does not lock out whole band and locks out approximately 30MHz blocks (at least now it does).. I made a video proving it!

  • I will shoot you in the head with my A K band gun!

  • I use this and I think it's great. I think this video mis-represents how great a product this really is.

  • The video shows that it locks out real radar sources/threats along with the flase ones. So if a cop was in a area where you locked out a false source/threat, you will not be warned about the Cop shooting radar and getting your speed

  • the truth is right in front of your face. you just choose not to believe it. so let the blind lead the blind.

  • the truth is right in front of your face. true lock does not work. so shall we let the blind lead the blind? or request that Escort steps up and fixes the problem?

  • Love that Def Leppard song! Foolin !!!!

  • Great concept but really needs a whole lot of work. I'd rather deal with false alarms and receive all of the real threats. K band automuting on the V1 is nearly as effective when running in logic mode

  • Why wont Belscort just take responsibility for this and address it instead of ignoring it? I hear that many customers try to call in but Escort wont do anything about it

  • Because by law, if a company admits to having a problem with a product, they MUST have a fix, or risk legal action. You can tell them about it all day long, but until they figure out how to address the problem, they have to deny that it exists to protect themselves.

  • Agree! It is a lot like that in the I.T. world!

  • Whats the frequency of the two sources?

If they're the same, of course its going to block them both!

If you dont know the answer, the test is useless.

  • One thing I stress most of all is unless you drive exactly the speed limit on long distance road trips, GET A RADAR DETECTOR! I just drove from Vegas to Texas and from Texas to Colorado then Portland. Had to be well over 20 times that it saved me. Driving 85/90 on a 75 mph highway on a 700 mile trip will shave off 2/3 hours from your ETA, so I don't know how people DON'T feel the need to speed especially on wide open highway where safety really isn't as much an issue as urban streets.

  • Owned! Until this is fixed (if it is ever fixed) its really not worth an extra $150. X50 is just as good just a little more noisy, and that's only in certain areas that if you drive every day your used too anyways, and know to take caution around. (BTW, the blue display offered on X50 is hella stylish!)

  • My favorite run in was i was on a country road and i was with a buddy and i was going 80 in a 55 and there starts the ka band couldn't see a cop or a car anywhere. one bar two bars three bars four bars and i knew it was a cop coming up...i was telling my buddy here comes the pig were is he at up to 4bars and a mile later there he was passing me. I had all the time in the world to slow down. 9500i does have it's flaws with gps but use it wisely and it is the best radar detector out there.

  • oh yea ive had great sensitivity going up curvy hills and on a sraight away it usaully been picking up the radar about 5 miles away with great sensitivity. The bars go up smoothly-five miles away up to usally two bars-3 miles away three or four bars-2 to 1 mile away five to six bars and get really close 7th bar going off like crazy.

  • I own a 9500i. It has worked great for me. Yea if you lockout a location it will block all radar in that area. So if you know what locations you have locked out just drive the speed limit around them until the satalite icon stops spinning...it still keeps it more quit in your car. If you really want to do some serious speeding turn off gps put expert mode on and highway or Auto on...so your excepting everthing and it's works great.

  • This is a serious issue in a $450 detector. Have you contacted Escort to see if they can remedy the defect?

  • The point is, the 9500i is supposed to be able to lockout the frequency of the false alert but still alert to real police radar.

  • so are you suggesting that i not buy the 9500i? I also noticed that the reaction time wasnt good at all.....it was only like a few seconds .........i've been hearing alot of complaints that the 9500i detection time is not very good, and the 8500x50 is better, plus i like the blue led display better. I've heard about the national database for the 9500i so you can share speedtraps nationwide. Do you think i should buy the 9500i or the 8500x50?

  • If it's on the same frequency, how in the world would that be possible? It's doing exactly what it's supposed to do, block out that frequency in that area. Because it works, that's a problem? Come on.

  • Well generally radar is not the exact frequency as the gun next to they vary alot. and unfortunately Escort says it can tell the variences but it can't

  • and the point is???
