He was trying to figure out his newly formed faith from people who seemed like they may be willing and able to explain these things in a serious manner. And as for 24 hours, the word yom that denotes time has several different meanings. Given other things in Genesis, I take it to denote an unspecified amount of time.
Shane was just being curious & trying to figure things out. These guys are just bad examples of Christians who didn't like not having an answer. @jacktala1 Why can't dinosaurs live together with man? You do realize that most all beasties are frightened by humans, unless they are really hungry. We are way smarter to know how to kill them. They are not as big as Jurassic Park depicted. We have many creatures today that are dinosaur-esque. Their population in small numbers would be no real threat. We typically move when there is a large enough threat to us to where the beasties are not dwelling, etc. I ask you again, why not?
In Genesis 1:11-13 plants and veg were created on day 3 and in Genesis 1:27-31, Adam is created on day 6. In Genesis 2:4-7, Adam is created BEFORE the plants and veg.

Scripture does not speak on science bro. Moses was a prophet, not a biologist or astrophysicist; Genesis is a theological work, not a science textbook. We need to stop imposing a 19th century debate on a document from ca. 1400 B.C.

By science I mean the natural sciences, i.e., astronomy, biology.
Genesis is historical in that it speaks of historical people (Abraham, Issac, etc). But it is not giving you a literal history of creation. It is giving you a theological explanation of creation, namely with regard to God's authority and power over it. That is why we see God merely speaking things and they are so (vs. the other "gods" who labored to create) and how he names things (a sign of authority in the ANE).
If I may recommend a resource, see "An Old Testament Theology" by Dr. Bruce Waltke. He's a Reformed scholar of the Old Testament and offers a look at Genesis in its original literary and cultural context. It's a must read work to have any kind of good grasp on Old Testament/Genesis exegesis/interpretation.

I don't do that. The bible (66 books) fits hand in hand with human experience in reality. He made the galaxies for marking the calendar year and for His glory and power to be known. There could be other reasons that we don't know about also. Matter is contingent and cannot be eternal (1st and 2nd laws, etc).
@1tmoch Good and evil are just made up by humans, we're all taught what is good and evil from a young age religious or not, so actually, I do have a basis to declare something good or evil. I have thought a lot about what I don't believe, I don't need faith to decide religion doesn't have enough evidence to convince me it's real, it's just how I think I can't change that. You can't say what happened in the bible is reality and human experience because you don't know nor do I, your just told it.

@1tmoch Another thing I thought of, if the universe is only thousands of years old how come when we see Andromeda galaxy for example which is 2.5 million light years away we see it as it was 2.5 million years ago, wouldn't it of not existed? or are scientists making that up to? Einstein’s theory of relativity shows that time clocks are not the same everywhere in the universe. Matter bends space and we being more central in that equation, we have clocks that move much, much slower (physical processes moving slower) than that on the “edge” of the universe where most celestial bodies are.
@1tmoch The light would therefore zoom in much faster than 186,000 miles per second. There are 5 microseconds of difference in time from just 1 mile of altitude on earth at sea level to on top a mountain. Also, a lightyear is a distance, not a time, and the speed of light has not been proven to be consistent. It can be sped up and slowed down significantly. @1tmoch But they have measured the distance of it using lots of different techniques, you can't choose to believe only the scientific data that doesn't contradict the bible and deny any that does. Shane says cussing doesn't make you any less Christian and I couldn't disagree more! It is clearly stated in the Bible (James 3:10) that cursing should not be done. I love Shane and his videos but if he was a true Christian like he says he is, then he should know the Bible says cussing is a sin. To me, the language Shane uses and the things he does are not how a truly saved Christian would act.

@kaykillz11 I made a video series on profanity, and that was the least of my concerns with Shane. The bible says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. His channel shows what is most important to him. Having a "dirty mind" does make your profession of faith suspect. We are to be washed and renewed by the word of God, and to crucify the flesh. You are either dead to sin, or dead in sin, and Shane is dead in his sins. I am 99% sure of that. Sounds like you need to repent as well.
People are at all different levels with their faiths. One person being less knowledgeable or concrete in their faith hardly makes them not a christian. Christianity isn't a pill you pop in the morning before going on your daily lives.

In my opinion I think that what people are saying about Shane being an athiest is wrong to think. While although Shane uses profane language and is vulgar, you have no idea whats in his heart. Only him and God knows that. i also think this video was Shane trying to find real answers to these questions. @robinrene13 Wrong. I do not question God and His word. I have in the past, but it was very briefly and superficial. Drinking in moderation is ok. See my vid called "Devil's brew." Smoking is something you should quit, easier said than done though. Swearing in the proper context is not inherently wrong. The key here is repentance. If you have not repented of your sexual activity and continuous questioning, then you have reason to doubt your salvation. Shane is unrepentant (mark of an unbeliever)

Philipinos are usually no taller than 5'6" (men), and Samoans are usually very broad and tall. They are not as big as Jurassic Park depicted. We have many creatures today that are dinosaur-esque. Their population in small numbers would be no real threat. By science I mean the natural sciences, i.e., astronomy, biology.
Genesis is historical in that it speaks of historical people (Abraham, Issac, etc). But it is not giving you a literal history of creation. It is giving you a theological explanation of creation, namely with regard to God's authority and power over it. That is why we see God merely speaking things and they are so (vs. the other "gods" who labored to create) and how he names things (a sign of authority in the ANE).

He's a Reformed scholar of the Old Testament and offers a look at Genesis in its original literary and cultural context. It's a must read work to have any kind of good grasp on Old Testament/Genesis exegesis/interpretation.

Einstein’s theory of relativity shows that time clocks are not the same everywhere in the universe. Matter bends space and we being more central in that equation, we have clocks that move much, much slower (physical processes moving slower) than that on the “edge” of the universe where most celestial bodies are.

There are 5 microseconds of difference in time from just 1 mile of altitude on earth at sea level to on top a mountain. It calls people pigs, dogs, false prophets, and people with logs in eyes (all judgements). I judge because the bible COMMANDS me to make that fruit inspection judgment. See: John 7:24, 1 Corinthians 6:2,3, Luke 7:43, Luke 12:57, 1Cor.2:15-16, etc. BTW, no one from our ministry was mocking him.

It is not the word per se, but the meaning he intends to relay, and he promotes all sorts of base lusts of the flesh, every thing ungodly and degenerate. Read the bible and obey God. Shane says cussing doesn't make you any less Christian and I couldn't disagree more! It is clearly stated in the Bible (James 3:10) that cursing should not be done. I love Shane and his videos but if he was a true Christian like he says he is, then he should know the Bible says cussing is a sin. To me, the language Shane uses and the things he does are not how a truly saved Christian would act.

I've already shown you one video (first 5 and 1/2 minutes of it) that gives 7 or 8 very clear passages commanding us to make judgements. Okay, I watch shanes videos multiple times a day, I am a dedicated fan.. I am also a born again christian.. and I have been since I was 5 years old. Just because someone swears, and has a "dirty mind" doesn't make them any less a christian. It just means they would rather say it, than think it.. Everyone has those kind of thoughts, no matter if they want to admit it or not.. I believe shane is a christian.. and as long as he knows what he is doing, then get off his DICK. oh shit. @kaykillz11 I made a video series on profanity, and that was the least of my concerns with Shane. The bible says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. His channel shows what is most important to him. Having a "dirty mind" does make your profession of faith suspect. We are to be washed and renewed by the word of God, and to crucify the flesh. You are either dead to sin, or dead in sin, and Shane is dead in his sins. I am 99% sure of that. Sounds like you need to repent as well.

People are at all different levels with their faiths. One person being less knowledgeable or concrete in their faith hardly makes them not a christian. Christianity isn't a pill you pop in the morning before going on your daily lives.

I'm sure you've read about the parable of the soils, and about how a good tree bears good fruit. Now can i say 100% sure he isn't saved, no, but all indicators point the other way that he is not. It is a sad fact that most of the professing church will go to hell. That is what the bible says and what we see experience reflect.

In my opinion I think that what people are saying about Shane being an athiest is wrong to think. While although Shane uses profane language and is vulgar, you have no idea whats in his heart. Only him and God knows that. i also think this video was Shane trying to find real answers to these questions. But no one has the right to argue that he doesn't know God and maybe God his trying to teach him something through youtube video's who knows. All you can really do in these circumstances is pray.

He was talking about prophecy and how dominant a nation as the U.S. in all human history has been up to this point, and yet the bible didn't mention it. When you come across a word you don't understand (like "eschatology"), it is recommended that you look it up before posting comments.

He's being honest with his questions. Without wonder, there is no faith. I, as a born again, always wonder and question. I swear, drink, smoke, and did not save myself for marriage, but I still have faith, and I'm a good person. Shane is way better than me for saving himself, not smoking, no drugs or alcohol. @robinrene13 Wrong. I do not question God and His word. I have in the past, but it was very briefly and superficial. Drinking in moderation is ok. See my vid called "Devil's brew." Smoking is something you should quit, easier said than done though. Swearing in the proper context is not inherently wrong. The key here is repentance. If you have not repented of your sexual activity and continuous questioning, then you have reason to doubt your salvation. Shane is unrepentant (mark of an unbeliever)

Do you think in the last 100 years, humans evolved? I see evidence: @ museums of pioneers, the size of the average clothes shocked me. They were so small! And short! Plus the life expectancy has increased. Then there's technology. I was just wondering if that was evidence of evolution. I get confused on the subject. God bless.

Philipinos are usually no taller than 5'6" (men), and Samoans are usually very broad and tall. There are also with the industrial revolution different production of food, more growth hormones etc, but this says zero of evolution. There have even been found 12 foot tall human skeletons. Technology is advancing no doubt from centuries of collected data, but says nothing of evolution
