  • I am looking for just about any excuse to pick up the HG50...Brian's amps are the best!!!

  • I have a Sonny Jr 410 (4x10" speakers like the HG50) and a Sonny Jr. Cruncher (2 8's and a 12). The difference in sound between the two is very much like what I hear as the difference between these two amps. Can't go wrong with any of the above - all good amps from good guys.

  • Hey, Lindsey -

I appreciate your mentioning my BlowsMeAway volume control but to be precise we should clarify your control has a built-in impedance matching transformer as well.

Second - both are great amps to be sure. I am willing to bet that the primary difference in sound is the speaker configuration - and if you plug one head into the other's cab, it will sound more like the other than it sounds like itself. Would be an interesting test (hint, hint.)

    Cheers

    /Greg

  • Right on Greg...thank you. Switching the two would indeed be interesting. Have to try that out. Unfortunately, I think these camera mics do not really provide an accurate depiction - especially considering all the subtle intonations. However, this would definitely be a worth experiment.

  • Nice video, but like Jason said, the HG projects a fuller, rounder sound. I have both amps and also did a side by side comparison. Both are great, but the Meteor is a bit thinner sounding, though certainly

only a small step behind the sound of the HG.

    Stick with the HG.

  • Going with the HG 50. Both sounded good. HG. 50 sounded more organic and round.

  • What up Jason !!! Glad you made it back to the states - love the vids from Europe. Yea, I am currently using the HG full time now and use the Meteor as a practice amp at home. HG is definitely more round

  • As gay as it looks, we really didn't plan to wear the same colored shirt. How funny.

  • Nerds

  • Yes, the humming is indeed from the Meteor. Not sure what it is but its much more prominent when you turn up the mids. Its barely audible on stage, but yes, very noticeable when the camera is right there. There are alot of amps out there that hum and it never really bothered me that much

  • Like this clip! It was a lot of humming in the Meteor. Was it just in the camera or was it cause they stand so close to each other?
