  • Sgouros is still active and rock the crowd all over the world

  • the last part (coda) is amazing

ta teleutaia metra (konta) einai gamata XD

  • I love the way he shreds up the end of the coda. He makes the piece sound like it's tumbling down the stairs into oblivion :p

  • @JacobRudduck Yes, it's a very interesting "take" on the approach, and the coda itself, isn't it? I really like the little dynamic thing, fading down to p at 5:17. I'd never considered such a radical diminuendo at that moment, quite beautiful!

  • @JacobRudduck Truly stunning, isn't it! I actually came across a German virtuoso - many, many years ago - whose interpretation was virtually identical. I can't remember the pianist's name (I'm old and addled). It influenced me so much that I ended up emulating him (well, my pedestrian attempt to emulate him, as I felt it to be exactly what Beethoven would have felt to have done justice to the integrity). Lovely! I haven't heard the tempest rolling to off into the distance like that since.

  • So a serious beethoven expert KNOWS perfectly that this sonata is about furious pessimistic feelings. And SPEED is essential for this. So this is a HINT for you to start thinking what beethoven intended. There is no passion in this music and Sgouros made a big mistake to experiment at this slow speed.

  • this movement was not meant to be played at this slow speed. Sgouros is a great pianist but his choice to performe this music at this slow speed totally destroyed the feeling. Check Richters performance to see what beethoven intended.

  • @AkaMouTinn Never say WHAT BEETHOVEN intended..God..

  • @CSPlayerDamon it is possible to speculate what beethoven intended when you study his music very deep and accurately. Even in sheet music ALL the comments below the notes talk about what the maestro intended ...... So before you say a comment try to study more about HOW we come to a position to KNOW aproximately what a composer intended. And that is by studying every single note comparing it with each other working backwards to the composers mind. That is what all serious musicians do.

  • @AkaMouTinn In some pieces, the dynamics were written by the editors and not by Beethoven...And..still, never say what Beethoven intended..Otherwise, if Beethoven, Mozart, Liszt, Bach, Chopin and all those great composers would not have gone forward if they were "serious" musicians..All in all..this is a good interpretation..

  • @CSPlayerDamon your answer says nothing more than your previous comment. Read again and try to find some reasonable argument to answer to mine. I dont count on it thought as you proved 100% ignorant of what i said :) cya

  • @AkaMouTinn (The dynamics probably aren't from Beethoven..?) And...the way you think you seperate musicians into mostly two types.Performers, who must do the exact thing the composers asked and composers, who are free to do anything they like. This way of thinking concludes into Sgouros not being able to play differently, but Beethoven or any other composer for the matter can do anything freely. What if I said to jazz the Appassionata? Would I not do what Beethoven wanted? No, but why is it wrong

  • @AkaMouTinn It's a different way of approaching the piece..And..forget about the dynamics thing..I'm not sure about that..Although I doubt that the editors didn't mess up with them...

  • Comment removed

  • @AkaMouTinn You know that you didn't show any valuable argument..right? But, anyway, that is your opinion and I respect it..I just don't comply with it.
