Regarding the dew shield. Constructed using some camping bed matting. I added room to slot in a zippo hand warmer. You can get them on Amazon. These are fuelled with lighter fluid and once lit last well over 12 hours. The entire setup, when used, ensures the air surrounding the lens stays nicely above the dew point temperature. I have not encountered moisture since using this setup. Good luck.
can you tell me a little bit more about your dew shield? i just tried to shoot a time lapse sequence, but after about an hour the lens was completely covered with dew drops :(
@JogBird My initial star trails indeed suffered from ice (and water) on lens and I had to stack the only available shots without lens freeze. This limited my time frame so I invented a dew shield, which is great for preventing the dew/ice on the lens. For the purpose of this video, naturally the E5 had no dew shield. However, the E3 (which captured the E5 freezing) had the dew shield fitted.
I did the same for 3 hours at minus 25 degrees Celsius to capture a lunar eclipse two years ago, my buddies Rebel quit on him after 45 minutes, his was going into his jacket a bit too. E-3 on a tripod, really slowwww LCD, but other than that it worked flawlessly.

1'st off, big gratz on the star trail photos Mark, truly amazing. Most of the E-x users will probably never put the camera through such pain but it's very reassuring to know they can take it. Can't w8 for the price to go way down on the E-5, but it might take a while since everyone that picks one up just won't shut up about it and praise it. Makes it hard for the rest of us who (have to) wait for it to drop below 1,4-1,5k. Anyway, thnx for posting this and keep shooting, your photos are awesome
