  • lol everytime I go one this ride on the at the elevator part, there's always a little kid crying. XD

  • I am a huuuuuge haunted mansion fanatic, and i think this is way better, the old ghosts use to be a little hard to see, and it would take me a minute to see which hitch hiking ghost was sitting on my lap. these ones pop out at you and grab your attention. I think these look more fun and creative, which is really what disney is all about. if they dont update their rides with newer technology, it could be harder for them to keep new thrill seeking guests coming to disney in the future.

  • I like it yet I don't like it. The animation is great but it just looks TOO goofy. Maybe tone down the slapstick a bit.

  • I have 9 ghosts at home I dont need anymore thanks lol!

  • interesting

  • yea the new additions are cool and all, but theyre too cheery and lightspirited for the ride. same with the interactive queue. plus these look like cheap computer effects

  • @canadianbaconbro hehe light spirited hehe

  • i loved the new changes!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I loved the old mirror effect but from the looks of it, this is really cool!

  • Interesting. Glad I got to see the old ones when I went (Dec2009) before they went away.

  • I think the new Haunted Mansion is awesome. The "Esher Room" is excellent. There is little too much purple/violet tint to the ride which kind of bugs me but it's still very cool. The singing busts look great and the crystal ball is beautiful. The new mirrors are the bomb. Five stars from a local Orlando resident.

  • If they ever put this in My anahiem Mansion I think I'll lose my head.

  • @DerHatboxGhost That's my friend's Hatbox Ghost's job.

  • @PhineasTheGhost I see

*walks around corner and is gone*

  • I saw this just a week ago when riding and you won't believe how scared I was at first. I mean, I'm ashamed considering my age, but I've dealt with the "dead-looking" hitchhitchers since i was 3. Seeing the dwarf bang on my head like a drum made me fly up from my doom buggie!! :D

  • wow thats so cool when i went they just sat with you

  • Wow

  • Where the fuck is black ass eddy murphy???

  • @TheFunnysamnoob333 He isn't there because 2003 "The Haunted Mansion" movie starring Eddie Murphy was not as big a success as the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.

So there was no excuse to add stuff from the movie like they did with "Pirates" (However, IMHO, that's a good thing because I really hated the "Pirates" films, and I don't care for most of the movie-related changes to the attraction).

  • @disneyfan81 Very good points.

  • 2 funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!=)

  • can't wait=D

  • OMG! THAT IS SOOOOOOOOOO CREEPY COOLISH! LOL!

  • It Doesn't look bad at all.

I think its fine and good.

  • I don't see how anyone would prefer the same old limited animatronic effect over and over rather than the high tech, and random effect this offers. this gives guests a new experience every time. How is that a bad thing?

  • @Dragonrider1227 It's the nostalgia hitting them. I understand why they would prefer the older version, but you have to accept change sometimes! I prefer the new high-tech version of it as well.

  • @cdgunzz97 Yeah, they have their "safe zone" and freak out when it's tampered with. Kinda makes sense but I think too often they take it too far.

  • @Dragonrider1227 Its a bit of a down grade when it looks flat and unreal. It just does not fit with everything else. They tryed but failed. CG ghosts ruin it for me.

  • @TheGreenQuality2nd Okay, I can see that pet peeve but it doesn't bother me. I like the added variety

  • @Dragonrider1227 These are flat and cartoony. Not realistic in anyway. I wish WDI just gave me, Ezra, and Gus full blown AA. That would've been cooler and everything.

  • @PhineasTheGhost I can see flat but they were never realistic. Always designed to be cartoony

  • @Dragonrider1227 But much more "After"life like before. Still somewhat cartoony, but more detail was in them making them convincing.

  • @PhineasTheGhost Sorry, I'm not seeing it. Maybe I have to see it in person to make up my mind more but at the moment, I don't see a real issue

  • @Dragonrider1227 I think it's just the "nostalgia" element of it all. Ya know, those hard-core disney fans who knew it back when it first opened, and freak out any time they make a change to it? I dunno, just my thoughts.

  • @Xauric521 That's what I think too

  • Nice way to piss on WED's creation Disney. Instead of taking the expensive and more challenging route you took the easy way out and installed CG. What we should have been seeing is the latest in animatronic technology with interactive ability. Fans are being robbed and most don't even realize it.

  • @equilibrium1736 Yes, they could do SO much interaction with an animatronic that's on THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL! :D

  • @LaneCormier The Disney I knew was able to accomplish the impossible and invented new technology. Now we have a company that takes shortcuts and uses the least expensive technique to accomplish a task even though there are probably better ways of doing the effect. We should have interacting animatronics, not an interactive television, it's not impossible. Back in the day people would have laughed at Walt for suggesting the idea of an animatronic, instead they were proven wrong.

  • @equilibrium1736 Please explain how they could even accomplish an interactive animatronic when it's not even in the same room as the guests? I would sure like to know. And plus, if you are ever going to call any amusement park a "shortcut company", tell it to Universal Studios.

  • @LaneCormier The same way they did before, the animatronics were behind one way glass going in a circle. The only difference would be that the movements would be state of the art and would feature the same motion sensing technology they have now to trigger programmed movements. This is an idea that is very doable, just very expensive and more prone to breaking down. The benefits would outweigh the negatives though because the effect would be impressive.

  • @equilibrium1736 I guess you don't realize that Disney can't keep wasting money to keep fixing animatronics that break down all the time. Also, if I was an imagineer, common sense would tell me that wasting a good chunk of money on a bunch of expensive animatronics that can easily break down is a stupid idea. I'm done arguing.

  • @LaneCormier It's not wasting money, it's called being the premier leader in the entertainment industry, something Disney used to be famous for and proud of; the very attitude that made them famous in the first place. I didn't hear Walt complaining when they spared no expense to install the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean which both had well over 100 state of the art audio animatronics at the time.

  • @equilibrium1736 I didn't hear them saying to cut the number of audio animatronics because it was too "expensive" and too much trouble to deal with. Instead they used money efficiently in the construction process and made their dream a reality with no corners left untouched. If you look at the concept art for both of these attractions, they are almost identical to the real thing, unlike today where the actual execution is no where near as elaborate. It still pays off today after 40+ years.

  • @LaneCormier One more thing, if Disney isn't taking shortcuts and they haven't lost their way then why is the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean still the best two attractions at any resort? They are both over 40 years old and have never been surpassed in creativity or quality. Why did the original Epcot concept that Walt dreamed up get cancelled when he died? Why was California Adventure such an utter failure at launch? Why did Disneyland need a complete overhaul in 05?

  • @equilibrium1736

There is a city called I think Celebration Florida that houses the original Epcot ideas. It was designed by Disney Co.

CA was not an utter failure when it opened, but it did have some flaws which are being slowly dealt with, and don't forget that 9-11 had just happened which seriously hurt the travel industry.

05 was Disneyland's 50th anniversary! Disneyland was always meant to change and grow. They haven't lost their way!

  • @DisneyMagicDreamer85 You are looking at DCA's performance through a fan based point of view. It was a failure when it opened from a business standpoint because no one wanted to pay full admission for a 4 hour park. For years it was being bundled free with promotions like the 2fer. Not in the history of Disney has there ever been a complete demolition and redesign of a theme park entrance. Not only that but the entire park has been redone and rethought.

  • @equilibrium1736

Hmm, you certainly enjoy typing, or trying to make a point whichever.

Again, CA does have flaws, I am not pleased about the redesign of CA entrance and yes the hours were shorter. There was also a lack of shade, lack of transportation inside the park and fewer thrill rides to attract crowds. These are being addressed and modified.

Every Disney park has gone through the growing phase. It takes time and development to make these parks what they are today.

  • @DisneyMagicDreamer85 I would like for you to research Tokyo Disney Sea because this is an example of a theme park that exceeded expectations at launch. The reason why this park was amazing from the get go was due to its 4 billion dollar budget, the dedication to detail, quality, and service. The Oriental Land Company owned the rights to Disney and proved that Imagineering was capable of far more than the company allowed with DCA.

  • @equilibrium1736

    Ok, I shall do that.

Wait, 4 Billion??? Whoa! With that much money they probably could have a ride that sent people to the moon and back! If they dumped that much into a theme park from the onset, then they would have been bankrupt if the project was a failure! Not a very smart buisness move, but it sounds as though it worked. Good for them.

  • @DisneyMagicDreamer85 In order to be successful in the business world, you have to take risks, that's business 101. Walt understood this very well and nearly bankrupted the company for every new project he accomplished including Snow White and Disneyland. He knew that quality would always win out and pay off. Walt never cut corners and this is what made the company possible in the first place. I urge you to look at some documentaries on Walt Disney.

  • @DisneyMagicDreamer85 You are also side stepping the reason why Disneyland had to be restored so heavily for the 50th anniversary. It wasn't solely because they had a promotion going on, it was due to the under budgeting and profiteering of Disneyland's management for all those years in the 90's. They had let the park get into such disrepair that almost every single building needed heavy restoration. They never upgraded anything over this period of time and it showed.

  • @equilibrium1736

And so I don't "sidestep" Disneyland, I will add that there were some improvments in the 90s. 92 saw the addition of Fantasmic, 93 the opening of Toontown, 95 the Indiana Jones ride and 99 the redesign to Tarzan's treehouse. There were also about 4 years of problems, the New Tomorrowland, the Rocket rods, the closure of Electrical parade and the infamous Light Magic dud. So no the 90s was not the best decade for disneyland. I agree.

  • @DisneyMagicDreamer85 If you notice, all of the additions mentioned were in the early 90's; after 1995 the company took a nose dive, creating disasters like Tomorrowland 98. There was a period of 10 years where the company completely shredded their founding values. It wasn't until 2005 when the 50th came around that the company realized that they were losing their customer base. Soon as the restoration came, crowd levels spiked and have never reduced since.

  • @equilibrium1736

Can you please define what you mean by "shredding founding values" I agree that Disney was lacking a little in the late 90s and that CA did not start out strong. Like every park and every buisness, they have their ups and downs. Are you saying Disneyland should not have had the 50th restoration? I just would like to know where your point is.

  • 1/2 @DisneyMagicDreamer85 The company shredded their founding values by going from a family type business to a corporation where maximizing profit is attained at all costs. During the 90's Disneyland managers were encouraged to cut corners in order to increase revenues for the company. This compromised safety, aesthetics of the park, service quality, project quality, and insulted their devoted fan base.

  • 2/2 @DisneyMagicDreamer85 The 50th restoration was necessary to rectify this travesty they had committed all those years during the 90's and even today they still pay minimum wage to their employees and treat them terribly behind the scenes. They realized that their legendary status was in jeopardy of becoming irrelevant and this forced the company to respond. They responded well and have gained much of their respect back. They still have a long way to go though.

  • @DisneyMagicDreamer85 Using 9/11 is not an excuse since Disneyland was packed every single year while DCA continued to be empty. It wasn't until recently this past year that things started to pick up over there and it only took 1.4 billion dollars extra to accomplish this task... The original park only had a budget of 600 million dollars, the very same budget that they are using to construct carsland alone. DCA was a failure because of cutting corners and lack of passion.

  • @DisneyMagicDreamer85 I also can't believe that you would compare Celebration Florida with Walt Disney's idealized city of the future, they aren't even close in execution or stature.

  • is it a movie or a ride or a 4d? or what is it?

  • @dreamcaster221 ride

  • @dreamcaster221 It's a ride called The Haunted Mansion, and it's in Disney World. Last time I went on, the ghost switched my face and my dad's face, but I am seeing much cooler effects on here! The flashlight, the balloon head, trading heads with the ghost, and the ghost putting his beard on the rider!

  • i liked the more "dead looking" hitchhikers waaaaaay back in the day :)

  • @daveman247 DO you mean the temporary ones used in 1969 in Anaheim?

  • When i got stuck on their, the cast member scared me from behind and i sang Grim Grinning Ghosts. And everyone joined in untill we got evacuated.

  • So, they just remade the originals?

  • do you see the ghost on the ride? like do you see them next to you?

  • Man ! Ive never in my entire life ever been to Disney land my parents went when my 2 brothers were young and i wasn't even born yet

i get the feeling in the future 3d animation is going to replace the animatronics on every ride that Disney made problem is how are they going to pull it off ?

  • @Mrmotionette Those arn't real holograms. Its TV tech. The mirror is a T.V and theres a hidden video camra, witch motion tracks the carts. Then shows a animation on the cart where ever the tracker thinks the cart is. You can only see the ghosts when you look in the "mirror", its a TV.

  • @spellingerror2000 Hmm I didn't know that n here I thought they where holograms n when did Disney discover this new technology

oh n when is the hatbox ghost going to reappear in the haunted mansion or is that false advertising cause I read somewhere he'll be in the attic with the bride

  • @Mrmotionette No he wont. And that isnt false advertising because Disney never said that.

  • @Mrmotionette Eh I doubt that. They will probably just make the anamatronics more up to date.

  • How freakin fun would that be?? Is it only at Walt Disney World?

  • I Love Disney & 19 years old

got a problem with that people?

  • This is cool, but I honestly like how it use to be.

  • Oh. goody. more CGI tricks. Whoop.

  • And the mirror projection of ezra (the tall one) should be recreated again. i mean: does that guy in the mirror looks like ezra?! Seriuosly man!!

Anyway is still a great effect. Sorry for the english. I'm italian

  • The animatronics at the beginning are cool and better than the old figures. But there's a problem: they barely move!!!! The imagineer should replace the mechanics of this new animatronics with an A-100 version!!! They should move as well as the jack sparrow animatronic.

  • Please bring back the old ones this one is Stupid

  • U NEVER GET TO OLD FOR DISNEY!

  • I LIKE THE CHANGES I WAS ON THERE YESTERDAY ITS PRETTY FUN.........

  • little more childish than i like but thats what disneys for

  • It will be coming to disneyland. Don't know timeline though.

  • i hope they do that to the 1 in cal

  • i dont know about all you who grew up with disneyland or WDW but you shouldnt change stuff like this, though its new and cool. you dont change something thats been there for so long like this.

  • Do they have this at Disneyland too?

  • Looks damn cool! It's just too bad I'm going to DisneyLAND this summer...;(

I wonder when the Hatbox Ghost is arriving?

  • I hate this. Too much going on. Sorry Disney fans. It sucks.

  • Comment removed

  • @ccipollini1984 Did you actually ride it? Or are you basing your response on the video? It is much less busy in person, when you are experiencing the ghosts interacting directly with you.

  • That is awesome. Anyone know if they are going to incorporate this into the one at Disneyland?

  • Sweet! New animations with the hitchhiking ghosts! Can't wait to go! (:

  • @alvin4325 lol. Im going to disneyland tomorrow.

I would rather not pay for the trip to Orlando.

  • that is so amazing!!!!! @InsideTheMagic will this be coming to Disneyland soon?

  • thats cool and all..just..im sorry, it looks fake, i know its fake..but the original had a more organic look to it...

  • Please do this in Anahiem! I love it so very much! :D

  • SUPER!

  • @kamakazim kamakim, if you don't like the way disney world turned out, then don't go there! simple, by the way if you don't like the new hitchhiking ghost and the new attic bride you can always go to tokyo disney resort they have the old bride and the old ghosts there.

  • 0:20 FOUND RICKY!!! lol

  • This is freakin' amazing!!!! I hope they do it for anaheim soon!

  • Like the effects, don't like the style. Way to goofy and less creepy. It's kinda like the movie with Eddie Murphy.

  • @Lohiau1 only, you know... FUNNY! ;p

  • thats not new.

i rode that when i was little like 5 years ago and they had it!

  • @NoPunIntended00 No they did not... What they had was an effect of a (stationary) Hitchhiking Ghost sitting in your ride vehicle. I doubt they had the technology to scan your head and make the Ghosts appear to toss it around 5 years ago, so that's your imagination running wild :-)

  • Wow, one of the ghosts switched the heads of two of the visitors. Those are some awesome effects!

  • my fav part of that ride :D

  • It looks great---but I'm going to miss the days when, riding alone,I could put my arm over the ghost's shoulders.

  • I can't wait to go and see the new changes!!!

  • looks good to me. The ghost have a lot of detail and interaction, do they sense where the riders are?

  • looks good to me. The ghost have a lot of detail and interaction, do they sense where the riders are?

  • Do you know if they are going to do these changes to the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland?

  • That's great. Absolutely fantastic!

  • Thats Amazing! Cant wait!

  • Looks cool, cant wait to go to disney!

  • Guys stop with the offensive/nasty turtle talk, this being a disney video, there's kiddos watching. Show respect.

  • @agentj900 It's the internet, people can talk how they want, only the video uploader has the right to remove things, otherwise it's up to the parents to prevent kids from seeing something the parents don't want them to see. Not the community.

  • @kamakazim Not judging from what people are saying here they aren't. As someone whose favorite ride is the Haunted Mansion, I think this is an improvement upon something that wasn't so spectacular the way it was. It doesn't change the ride for the worst at all. It's all based on opinion. Walt's not in charge anymore...and there's NO way of knowing what he'd think if he were alive today. That's the way of life and moving things into the modern era.

  • LOL! thats hillarious! GREAT!

  • @kamakazim @vertigoboy1981 You're obviously not young. If you can find somewhere where it says that Walt said changing anything or updating anything is forbidden, feel free to pass that along. He wasn't even around for most of the Haunted Mansion's conception. You're basing your arguments on opinions and feelings. The new attic scene is the only scene a lot of people know...and I really don't hear anyone but the older generation complaining. It's a ride.

  • @kamakazim Actually Walt said that the park was never to be finished...it was to always be changing. Catering to the old people holding onto their 1976 DisneyWorld isn't going to please everyone. It's also a lot about today's kids...who could care less about what it was like 40 years ago. The essence of the ride is still there...and that's what matters.

  • @vertigoboy1981 My thoughts exactly!

The attraction has not been messed up in any way. They just made it better.

While I respect the talents of Marc & Alice Davis, even they weren't/aren't always right. Their reasons for hating Big Thunder Mountain, Splah Mountain and Phantom Manor, for instance, are stupid, wrong and unfair.

The new Hitchhikiers are an "imrprovement". A MAJOR improvement.

Change is a natural part of life, nihilists. Get used to it!

  • @disneynut06

Pfft. It just comes down to subjective opinion. And my subjective opinion is that Disney imagineering has gone way downhill since the 60's. Every alteration to one of these classic creations only serves to highlight that fact.

This new effect is totally schlocky and soulless, and it's going to look mighty outdated in a couple years.

  • Comment removed

  • They changed it right after we left!!! FRICK!!!! :(

  • @MotorCityKitty79 i was there april 2nd , i get home and find this out????? I WANT TO GO BACK!!!

  • @regularshow99 Let's go! Party at the Haunted Mansion! :)

  • what does Gus do?

  • im sad, i went a month before this released and missed these things

  • the haunted mansion in Euro Disney is far better.

a lot more eery and sinister. for example, during this part of the ride in disneyland paris, it's skeletons/skulls not goofy looking ghosts.

it's still exactly the same it was when i first went there-which was about 12 years ago. nothing's been changed.

still freaks me out to this day and I'm 18!

i don't understand why american's feel the need to cater to the children's tolerance towards scary things.

    it sucks

  • Comment removed

  • @kamakazim Indeed. In more enlightened circles, it's considered unacceptable when someone's work is pissed upon by latecomers to the game. When a work is completed, it's completed. Addtional brush strokes from someone else's hand are most unwelcome, at least by people who are paying attention. Alice Davis, who ought to know better than any "yes man" posting here, has gone on record as saying that much of the work of Marc Davis has either been ruined or replaced by the current Disney staff.

  • @rlm7in It was Walt Disney who envisioned that his park, his creation, Disneyland, including Disney World as well, would never be completed and that it keep enhancing and growing. He said Disneyland will never be completed as long as there is still imagination left in the world. This enhancing is his dream at work, and I am sure that Marc Davis is not upset, but proud that his work is still moving forward. I definitely have to disagree with you.

  • @MrBAM1991 I just said the same thing! The essence of the ride is still in tact. They are making updates to fit the times...not changing it for the sake of making it different. The park was meant to always be changing and bettering itself. They can't cater to the 60 year olds that were there when the park opened. They need to think about today's kids too. I agree with you 100%.

  • @vertigoboy1981 Thank you very much.

  • @bobbysuger Walt Disney created the original Disneyland to be fun for all ages, not just kids. He didn't like how amusement parks at the time were only fun for children while parents had to sit by on a bench and watch. Today, Disney's many theme parks are still enjoyed by the kid inside everyone!

  • @InsideTheMagic I rode that ride during spring break March 11-15, and I didn't see any of these new features! It was actually disappointing, just like a ghost floating away, no interaction or mirror effects, I'm sad to see I missed this feature!

  • @bobbysuger Disneyland is AWSOME, no matter how old you are!!!

  • @bobbysuger are u kidding me....

  • @bobbysuger= At Disney, anyone can be a kid again. Even if it's just for a few hours. If you don't take a break and have some fun once in a while, the adult world will drive you crazy. I've seen it happen.

  • @bobbysuger Haven't you heard the quote "Your never too old for disney"?????? idiot XD

  • @luchdim13 1) just becoz it's a quote doesnt make it true.... 2) dont call ppl u dont know "idiot"... just makes YOU look like an idiot

  • @bobbysuger time to stop trolling maybe?

  • @hu4LJ4T just becoz someone doesn't have the same preferences as you, doesn't mean they are trolling. get off your high horse maybe?

  • @bobbysuger i agree but then again...writing that on a video where they will obviously get a reaction?

  • @bobbysuger Yeah. How dare adults have fun and do things they like! They should be boring and stuffy and not want to have any fun, like a real adult should!

  • @bobbysuger Disneyland isn't for kids, it's where you get to be a kid again :)

  • @bobbysuger NEEVVVEEEERRR!! >(

  • WOW! THOSE ARE AMAZING!!!! :O

  • I've always loved the Haunted Mansion and this just makes it better. What a terrific addition to the illusion. Still the best Haunted House in the world. No blood, no gore, all fun.

  • I wonder how it interacts if 3 riders are in the doom buggy.

  • These new ghosts are awesome.

  • It's cool...but I'm a little sad. I love moving around the old ghosts, so that I could make a funny look with my arm around them or something of the like. I don't mind that new technology is making it's way to the forefront, or that new artists are being employed in this aspect. But I'm afraid we're going to lose the old arts to this 'latest and greatest' updating. I knew Star Tours was changing, but I didn't expect this... Rest in Peace my childhood memories of Disney rides.

  • @YoungBowieLover It's fine if new technology is applied as a tool to seamlessly maintain what has already been established, not to alter it. It's a poor substitute for proper design principles & the artitstry of hands-on work. It's only a tool, like a dinner fork. Good chefs don't screw up perfect, established dinner courses just to showcase a shiny new fork. You don't hear people going "oh, wow. look at the awesome FORK! That's so much better than the dessert we had last time we were here!"

  • Mouais bof....

  • I really wish they haddn't revamped the basement area where you initially walked through the hallway into the staging area. That was my favorite part; you actually felt like you were walking through a haunted mansion. :(

  • Now, what happens when the technology doesn't recognize anybody in the Doombuggy?

Overall, I'm really impressed with the technology and I'd love to see it in-person.

  • @kamakazim

    That is a bad idea.

Last thing I want is the younger kids actually interested in art museums and paintings.

  • Does magic exist ?? wow !!!

  • I liked the temporary projections better! now this is looney and stupid but who cares. disney is disney and they will always screw up on everything now days

  • Disney Imagineers, with this addition to the Haunted mansion you get back in the game of who is best at theme Parks, I can't wait to see what Mermaid will look like

  • More CG that doesn't match up to the source material, which did NOT require "enhancement" in order to remain effective. And it moves frenetically like something out of "Roger Rabbit". Feh. Enjoy your new interactive big screen video game, folks. I wouldn't wipe my butt with it.

  • @rlm7in

    Yeah, I know.

Screw cars, I'm riding my horse to work.
